  • INCREDIBLE cover...his voice amazes me, so clean. Ya gotta think that Peter Gabriel heard this version and said.."damn, that's the way I shoulda sung it" lol

  • aaron lewis flat out is the shit period!

  • Im not sure its possible for someone to be more talentless. What garbage.

  • If you have ever seen them live, you wouldn't have anything bad to say.

  • I love this song sooooo much. This was my wedding song!!! great song to dance slowly to with a little twmpo....I highly recomend this for people looking for a good wedding song

  • This is not Staind, its the Band J-Cat.

Aaron Lewis and John Wysocki played in this bevor they changed to Staind

but the song is fucking awesom!

PS: sry for my english :D

  • @khorneketzer woooow youre right... i never knew. ty.

  • @drpepper4413

yeahh, i was wondering to, Aaron plays in a other Band bevor Staind, i see that a few monts ago and was exalted.

The first Version of It`s been Awile and Outside from J-Cat it`s way better, and by Bonghits For Breakfast i piss oneself laughing!! :D

Your Video has the full length, thats nice brother! :D

    See your later!

  • @drpepper4413 aaron was in to bands at the time, this was played while dysfunction was being recorded

  • @khorneketzer

Chris Ballini is playing the guitar. J-CAT was awesome!

  • i'm not putting this version down, but i think the intent behind the original was to be uplifting....i still see john cusack holding that boom-box over his head, professing his love.....this is a bit dark sounding for that image. also i think peter gabriel dug a lot deeper when he sang it, perhaps because he wrote it... this sounds like...staind doing a cover, but i noticed no errors or anything overtly displeasing.

  • too gloomy.......

  • Epic

  • Aaron's talent seems never ending!

  • Who the fuck is Jeffrey Gaines? I keep reading about him and not good things. This is Aaron Lewis for sure singing.... Its gottta be. Hes got a unique and very distinct amazing voice period. Please let me know if im wrong

  • @tkurtenbach84

Aaron is singing; Chris Ballini is playing guitar;Jon Wysocki is playing drums; Tori Sands is playing bass (J-CAT - first name initials give the band their name)

  • this is an amazing cover i love everythng about itt anyone that says different well thats fine its still an awsome cover

  • Aaron Lewis is always awesome !!!! I'll be seeing in Atla. on March 25th , I am so excited !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Original is so much better.

  • @Danklin24 How about you go fuck yourself. K? You know nothing therefore don't say anything you ignorant fuck.

  • ok first off I would like to see you sing half the songs he sings and second he has 7 or 8 albums out with at least 100 songs on there all original so suck it

  • it's just not the same... :(

  • aaron lewis is the greatest singer to ever pick up the mic

  • @aplus531....Yes... When you cover a song, it's never gonna sound like the original. But here we have an interpretation that is(to say the least) very different!..I myself love hearing covers carried out in a different way...

  • Ugh, i gave it a shot. But this is just not a good cover.

  • i like the last comment gazhaulr. I'm not particularly a big fan , though I do like his voice. This is artistry . It ain't easy covering PG anyway.

  • is very hard covering a wonderful song like this being original... this is nice!

  • it's incredible to think how songs can mean so much to us for certain parts of our lives.

  • @TebooTedMarshall have you even listened to them?

  • Amazing. The guitar work is so crisp and perfect too.

  • Molto bene !

  • boooooo!!!

  • Hmmm...interesting,,,Several people hate it, several people love it...as for me..I'm a big Aaron Lewis fan. I love it !!! He brings out the dark side of the song.

  • ummm, this was before Staind was even together, this was his first band JCAT (after the initials of the members), Old School was a member. So this was like 1994 or possibly earlier. Cut him some slack, he has got an amazing voice. And I happen to think this some is absolutely beautiful because it's very raw Aaron Lewis.

  • I think this cover is better than the original. In fact, I think almost all of his cover songs are better than the originals.

He should just put out a cover album after they release his solo album.

  • Huge fan of Gabriel, heard everything from "The Silent Son" to "That'll Do" to "The Tower That Ate People", and I have to say, it's surprising how

    good this is.

It's not supposed to be a direct cover.

This guy has an amazing voice.

  • Silent Sun, even.

  • Fantastic cover. The people who are talking crap about this clip obviously have never been to a live show, or played music themselves.

Playing live is never perfect. It's as simple as that.

  • this sounds much darker then the original but i absolutely love it<3

  • it does, doesn't it.....I never noticed it.....

  • dude if you don't like this cover you are a shitlicker

  • Staind is one of my favorite bands, and they usually do awesome covers, but this just isn't one of them.

  • Wow! I love love this song by Peter Gabriel, but this is an amazing rendition also.

  • i really wasn't feelin this cover at all up until the chorus then it was alright. im a huge staind fan but i just wasn't diggin this one too much. for those of you who haven't heard it already...check out the ben harper cover. it's my favorite. other than tim reynolds. :)

  • It may say Ben Harper, but it's actually Jeffery Gaines.

  • i realized that. lol. thanks! i felt like a jackass!

  • I've heard many different covers of this song this is the first to actually show us what the emotion of the song should be

  • This is JCAT, not just Aaron Lewis.

JCAT were his and Jon Wysocki's side project band during the early years of Staind.

I got more of their stuff on my channel :)

  • PG's version was - Happi happi happi.

AL's Version matches the lyrics, his vocal brings the right melancholy atmosphere.

  • An Aaron Lewis fan but not a great cover IMO. Jeffrey Gaines does a much better cover of this song.

Oh well....sometimes it's good, others not so much.

  • Yes sir. Amen

  • What's with all the shit talking on this page? Keep you opinions to yourself. Let's enjoy fucking good music. After all, that's we navigated towards this video

  • Lighten up Francis. Opinions don't make em right.

  • @riplayne99 Hell yeah!

  • i am a huge staind fan and a much bigger PG fan but i agree staind shouldn't have done this song!!!! it is a trade mark PG song and everyone has failed trying to do justice to the song and i was hoping that staind can pull it off but i must agree with a heavy heart that they didn't and mind i am a HUGE staind fan!!!

  • Peter Gabriel is way more talented then these guys they butchered it

  • I feel like I'm in a terrible karaoke bar. A very, very bad one..

  • while ur dumb ass sits at home with no musical talent? dont judge

  • F..ing suberb

  • listen to jeff gaines or ben harper version

  • What the fuck ever!!!!

  • ur a fucking idiot

  • what are you? a member of their fan club?

    it's my opinion asshole.

  • ur still a fucking retard

lets see u do it and not "butcher" it

  • because you have less talent than staind, so u have no room to say they did not do it good enough for you.

  • Stop being a fuckin fanboy just because you like something doesn't mean everyone else has to like it.

    grow the fuck up.

  • ur a fag

  • to anyone who wastes their time knocking Aaron:

He likes your jokes, in fact, while you are here posting trash, he is laughing all the way to the bank. Talent or no talent, he has made more in one year than most of you will make in your entire lifetime.

    Unless you can step up...

  • Applause to you!

  • why mess with perfection? ... i personally hate it

  • I agree, Gabriel sings where this guy whines

  • You have no idea what you are saying.

  • Whatever!!

  • mattandre01 you have no idea what your talkin about, i think your just a jealous one that probably doesnt have a talented bone what so ever in your body, go pose a comment where someone actually gives a shit what you have to say, thanx

  • i'm so sorry you feel that way. maybe i'll get all mopey about it and write an original one hit wonder song about it, followed up by a bunch more shit that nobody cares to hear, then i'll start ripping off ballads by talented artists and have a bunch of lame-ass goofball fans that think i'm soooo cool. oh wait, it's been done. LADY'S AND GENTLEMEN, SKIDMARKS, I MEAN STAIND!

  • you better chech your ears to a hospital...

you're damn wrong about aaron, he is the most talented musician ever!!

  • It takes talent to do covers

  • tim reynolds acoustic cover is insane.. its instrumental only..

  • Unbelievable...

  • Crazy, I have a version of this claiming to be by a band called The Gekoes, that's who I always thought did this version. Stupid mislabelled mp3s...

  • Beautiful

  • i love this song, nice cover...

  • way better then p. gab. so much better.

  • Aaron Lewis is a GOD!

  • yeah! q buena rolla y staind es el mejor grupo exelente cover

  • no comparison with Peter, good job though!

  • a valiant effort, but NOBODY can compare with peter gabriel's original version

  • try geffery gaines hes awsome and he also covers sam cook a change is gonna come
