Don't throw away used lids...they are perfectly fine for use for non-canned items: like walnuts, beans, rice, etc. I have a wonderful glass pantry and items stay fresh longer in jars, and they look darn pretty too...

I used to love canning with my mother and early in my marriage. It *is* easy, as you say. Listening to the "pop pop pop" as you drift off to sleep after a lond day is very comforting - though those who've never canned wouldn't understand that. Thanks for the video. I really enjoyed it. And, ROFL - the tops can only be recycled if your local recycler takes that kind of metal. Our's didn't for a long time.

The lid tops could probably be put in your recycling bin, or brought to a recycling place to recycle the metal.
