hey bodhran fans, i am a working with the waltons bodhrans and got them sounding real good, please check my video out and leave a comment letting me know what you honestly think. thanks in advance!!!
Maybe someone here can help me. Forever ago I remember hearing this irish song and the music was slow almost ssad in places, and it had this AMAZING female singer. It seemed to be a really popular song at the time and I can't remember the lyrics artist or the name. Does anyone have ANY idea what I'm talking about?
@exibitions Might it be Greensleeves? - I had that song stuck in my head for years trying to remember the song name - thanks to YouTube I finally found it again by accident (actually the story is a bit longer... but nvm)
I'd love to go to them bars in Ireland where they have live bands playing this kind of music all the time while everyone just gets wasted. I wish they had those kind of bands and atmosphere in English pubs :(
Is this the same guy that I worked with in Nashville Tennesse U.S.A? He had a band that played in an Irish pub at Opryland Hotel. They were called Nosey Flynn I think....
@vitalrocker no it is culture not genetic .However how you self identify has bugger all to do with rationality or there would be no white Rastas now . Good luck and fair fucks to you
@1lightheaded holy shit...someones in a bad mood. It's a fucking joke. Now calm down. And really? "fair fucks". I will give you credit for being creative but that was by far the worst insult i have ever seen. Next time, prepare yourself more before looking like an asshole. Now, good day, and have a wondeful Easter, asshole
I love the Irish I've got a tiny bit of it in me but i'm not sure how much wish i knew how much. 25% German and 75% somethin else lol. Amazing song anyway same as Johnny Tarr.
Alguien pudiera decirme que tiene que ver esta pieza con la melodia el "tunel de las delicias" del grupo celtas cortos,la seccion del violin al final es muy parecida
If anyone is interesting, the story of this song is as follows:
In Cork, there was a strike in the Murphy's factory (they don't drink Guinness there,) so the government imported emergency supplies of cider. However, it was shipped half-finished in old brandy barrels, so the alcohol content went through the roof during the voyage from England. As a result, a 3 month supply of cider was drunk in 3 weeks.
One of my favorite songs by Gaelic Storm. Seen 'em in concert four times, but they only played this in one of those. Love to get my hands on the exact cider from this song.... mmmmhhh, alchohol.....
I found this song by sheer accident and what a happy accident it was. Makes me wish I was at the pub, singing this aloud with all the other inhebriates like me!
I normally listen to heavy or symphonic metal, but I have a weird tendency toward Irish folk music. This song is perfect when I feel the effects of the spirits I am imbibing!
Please understand that I mean absolutely no disrespect. There is enough of that going around comment sections. But please don't call a thing dead if it is not. There are dedicated people and orginizations devoted to Irish's continued use and development into the future. For a bit of stats. Take Icelandic which has approx. 320,000 speakers, you could'nt call that a dead language, Irish has 355,000 native/fluent. It may be old but it is like tempered steel, It will outlive us for sure.
I was fortunate to discover this group only with a CD from a public library-FREE--I never even ripped and burned the songs. I live in Honolulu, so our exposure to good Celitc music is pretty limited. Saw them in concert at Milwaukee's Irishfest in August 2009--WONDERFUL-- hundreds of people standing on the picnic tables singing along !! What a fun night!
God I Love Gaelic Storm... Johnny Jump Up Is An Amazing Song As Well As The Chemical Workers Song... I'll Tell Me Ma.... Johnny Tarr... Kiss me i'm irish
A humorous drink song. There's also another nice beer song sung by by Tom T Hall - I like Beer. Just check this one out, and you all might like it as well !!!
I used to listen to this song in college. Got a lot of compliments...cos I'm Irish, and have fuckin' good taste. Carbombs were on me back then. Ah, the glory days. No one could chase me.
@Daithiwolf LIkely the stuff from big breweries. I know of a small brewery that does a up a fine one that is so dark it sucks in like like the galactic black hole and a head that'll hold a quarter...until the pitcher is done. 8^) I've IPA's available that are so hopped you'll swear the rat bastards stuffed two whole hop plants per pint and didn't trim the roots or wash the dirt away...oh and FYI Moose Drool makes new castle brown ale looke and taste like water.
its cider kept in whiskey barrels, once you do that it goes from 5% to 15-20%. It still tastes like cider though. Hence himself not noticing why hes gettin wasted off a few pints of it.
