@2382224 you are right, in the 1980-84 era, the top 5 in no particular order were Playfair, Behn Wilson, Semenko, Cochrane, Fotiu. By about 85/86, there was a changing of the guard with Dave Brown, Nilan, Jim Kyte, McSorley, Probert, Kordic becoming the top guns.
"Nylon" did well in the first bout and got the decision, but in the 2nd bout he took an incredible upper cut from Playfair. It´s just amazing that he was still standing after taking that shot. Nilan was tough, but Playfair was the better fighter.
Like i've said before, in his prime, playfair may have been the best fighter of all time. I'm a big probert fan but playfair was up there. He DESTROYS nilan in the second fight and nilan was no slouch. I've never seen nilan take such a beating and nilan was in his prime at this time.
playfair was one of the best fighters ever

Round2=NARROW WIN Nilan as he was accurater of the two and landed more but Playfair kept the fight closely still.
Round3=CLEAR WIN L.Playfair as he outlanded Nilan and Nilan got beated to the ice well at the end.
Kudos to Nilan who wasn't in serious trouble in this one and threw back well of his own shots early and middle of the fight.

Playfair was tough and HIGHLY underrated, especially these days.
Second only to Behn Wilson in this
era.I think anyway.

I have to agree - there's a reason why Nilan still holds the record for the highest PIMS per game - he was always looking for a scrap
