This is my favourite track from Braid. Though to try and dissect my reasoning behind this would be futile, Braid is a complete experience, far superior to the sum of its parts. It should be respected as such.

A metaphorical rescue for escaping the standard and boring.

A reverse world war 1 scenario.

Mario if it was made by an even bigger genius.

A combination of all these things?

I love braid, and this song really gets you thinking.

This is not the version that is found in the game, its the original album version.

Wonder if anyone has the in-game version because i havent been able to find it anywhere.

The in-game version is without piano, its only strings.

@segaroh That's actually the other track by Jami Sieber in the game, "Tell it by Heart". "Long Past Gone" is also used in several levels of the game. They're ...sister tracks if you will. Tell it by Heart is EVER so slightly above Long Past Gone on my list - they're practically neck and neck; both unbelievably heartrending.
