Rin is a girl who have grown up in an orphanage, and she really cheerful. Miku was an orphan and of samurai stock. She is shy and lonely girl. They are courtesans of houses in licensed quarters. They belong to the different houses and the top courtesan of each house. They used to be friends but now they're rivals. Len is known as a playboy around there. (He has a long hair.) Len promises Miku that he will buy her and asks her to wait for him, but he doesn't come back and Miku dies of a disease

From my understanding (without looking at any translations) It seems that Rin and Miku where abandoned as children, and where Geishas? Or Prostitutes? To Len when they where older. Rin really loved Miku, however Miku started to fall for Len, Len falling for Miku. Then, maybe the two of them got into the fight (Explains the broken hair accessory?) Then Len takes Miku away and Rin is left there, waiting for Miku to come back.

Then Len move on to Miku and Rin sees this. She cries and felt used. Len does the same thing to Miku and promises her "Wait here as I'll come back, buy you and marry you." Miku then waits, then die's cause of something, and Rin says in the end "I wish everything was just as it was when I pledged and everything was a dream"

Hmm, in my opinion, I think the other comments are going in the right directions to reveal the story of this song. Rin and Miku were best friends as they grew up as orphans. They made a promise to stay together no matter what. But as the time passes when they are currently working as prostitutes, Len, a customer of some sort falls in love with Miku. At the time, Miku had forgotten the promise of her best friend and fled off with Len. Rin happens to come and see this and hopes Miku could remember
