Hi I was wondering what kind of paints you use I've been using acrylic paint I just started doing some customs and I'm trying to find out what's the best paint to use and if I should use primer like I would use if I was painting a car. My friend told me to mix a drop of peroxide to the paint it makes it last longer and go on the figure smoother I also use a spray on sealer is it better to use a brush on sealer. I'm pretty good with a dremel and making stuff I just want my paint to look smoother
@doubble80 there are tons of different paints out there, and really each brand is best for CERTAIN colors for example I mainly use Citadel because thats what im used to, but the yellow color reaally REALLY sucks (unless you want to actually put extra work into it). It's totally up to you. Prime ing your figure sis always a good idea, and I make it easy on myself by using mainly black, or whatever colors suits that character best. I still have not found my fav sealer, so you tell me :D
@MegaBlackbelt123 ..do you really mean APOXIE? cause then i still dont know what your question was. Can you give me an example of what you are asking?
@TheCookiinCompany I think it's just a natural thing to look at what someone's getting and think something about them based on what they have, don't you look at what people in a line in front of you or in back of you have in their carts? It's the same as looking at what someone has in their cart, but you're actually grabbing each item and scanning it. "NEXT: hmm apples, celery, bran cereal, yogurt, grapefruits, skim milk, diet tea, rice, tomatoes, lettuce, twinkies, laxative, ...bouncy ball?
@xINVISIGOTHx ..idk..whenever i look into peoples carts its just "omg look how many [item] they have!!..OMG IS IT ON SALE!?!?" or "They better not have any figures.."
Would You recomond customing a marvel universe figure and if you say yes would it be a good idea to use a black widow marvel universe action figure for a emma frost this would be my first custom to pelese help:0?
@sammyandbear16 you can customize any figure you want. if this figure isn't worth anything to you (in case you completely destroy it) , than yeah go right ahead and customize it ^_^ yeah go ahead and try ..prolly any of the female figures are good. thing is that some customizers think working on the little MUs is harder, but that's personal preference.
@TheCookiinCompany have work on a smaller scale action figure oh and are oyu in the uk because you said you get alot of stuff from the uk and do yuo have to use the certain apoxie or is ther another cheaper kind to use that is available to buy at stores in the us?sorry that ibug you alot!;]
@sammyandbear16 no, i'm not in the UK but I do order my apoxie from there, that's where the company is based. You can actually find Apoxie brand in the US, but im sure anything is good, like i said in my video. different customizers use different stuff. but i don't know price comparisons since i just stick with good ol' apoxie. All you gotta do is read lables and experiment to see what results you get.
@MrEJR26 ok! good luck! But you it kinda sounds like you wanted to rip the head off a hard-to-find figure...uh, please don't do that. :D don't ruin good figures....
@MrEJR26 no, im saying the question you asked me earlier didn't make sense and sounded like thats what you were trying to do, get a rare figure just to rip the head off and use in a custom of the rare figure. which is kinda..redundant...*cough* lol see what I mean?
@TheCookiinCompany Sorry though this was a different comment. I ment I was wanting to make a 6" joker cuz he's hard to find but I can't find the perfect head. I meant to say what if oyu have a rare figure you want make but dont have teh right head and your 13 + your mom dont want you screwin around with paint and sand paper/ dremil. We dont even own a dremil :P.
@MrEJR26 lol then uh...buy a head! there are tons of people who sell heads on ebay and other websites just make sure they are the right size, a 6" figure would be 1/12 scale i believe
you SHOULD be molding these heads and stuff of the figures your buying and casting your OWN parts you can sand down and shit.. your ruining all these older figures when there is no need for that, sure the silicone costs a little extra but you save SO many parts this way!
@Toyman1982 ^_^ yeah, i feel the same way. But no, this is cheaper for me. Besides, at least half the figures i used are bait/fodder, as in, you should see my newer video and see that Storm body I painted. That was baity as heck and no one would use that as storm. perfect to customize.
@TheCookiinCompany ok i purchaes the apoxie but on a small part of the leg im customizing its not hard and ive blow dryed it boiled it no luck should i just try mixing it again?
@YokaiOokami omg..yeah don't do that stuff! It will Air dry OVERNIGHT. It's not clay that you can just bake hard! Just leave it alone and it'll be fine. If you HAVE to be in a hurry, i think you can paint it after about 4-5 hours ( but test it first). PLEASE go back and watch my video and read all the warnings and tips in the annotations. If you don't follow directions you will have problems with it. You must mix EQUAL amounts of Part A and Part B together THOROUGHLY
First off - your vids are a lot of help- so thx! I was wondering where you got that Apoxie Sculpt from- i went to Michaels Craft store & they ONLY had Sculpey you mention & they also had some light weight stone clay- not sure if that works. I'm really trying to get my Vintage He man figure going!
@TheCookiinCompany kool! thanx for tutorials, their really helpful. btw, hav u made a tutorial on the painting of a custom figure? one more thing, how would u get really straight lines when painting? are there masking tape involved?
@pangGo yeah i have made a really crappy video about painting, it just went up a few days ago. You could try the tape method, jsut do whatever works for you. I usually just stick to deleting any mistakes with the black paint. (as i show you in the video) it's not perfect, i guess...but i dont have any tape XD
@josephjojo411 O_O did u already buy and use apoxie since watching one of my videos? wow that was fast..make a video of your custom and make it into a video response on my Part 1 video :D

how durable would you say the apoxie is? and do you need to bake it to get it really hard?
