It'd be good to see the fish :). Lookin at the rod I'd say your guess of cobia was probably right. Catchin big cobia on 30 lb is definately gives you a big rush. Very interesting seeing them caught on plastics as I've only ever had luck with floating pilchards.
always enjoyed watching your vids. Keep up the good work!!!
Keep jigging and good luck, we've been getting excellant results and quality fish in the deeper reefs and shoals, about 50m. Lee sent a photo today of an 84 cm Fingermark he got this morning and three monsters as well yesterday. The 7" Jerk Shads are an excellant jig, and the nuclear chicken is very popular. That's all we generally use. They should be deadly on coral trout around the reef edges, and cod, trevally etc.. We hooked three unstoppables on three drifts.
All the best, I've just had a spinal fusion operation myself and will be a month or so before I'm back out on the water, got a couple of videos left to upload over the next week or so,
So did we, we lost three really good fish in three drifts, Really big Cobia, or Big Golden trevally's? They can go hard, and Lee was only using 30lb braid, Recommend at least 50lb and heavier leader,
Work well, haven't had to much luck with coral trout yet, but would work well in the reef shallows, Mainly been using the jigs in the deeper reefs and shoals.
