  • I just started training my son on the bench press. He is in the 7th grade and benched 230lbs. He just turned 13 a few months ago. Is he on par with having good strength? Also, I do not mean to come off as being intrusive but are many of the athletes in these videos take performance enhancing drugs? Please, I am not being rude. I just want the truth. My son plays football and we want to do things the right way. He sees these videos and sets goals.  I just want them to be realistic.

  • im 18 and i beat your record i benched 225- 37x 355 8x and 445lbs for 1 rep. i only weigh 189 and i will prob set a record in my class in my upcoming bench contest

  • @cman152cman Dude, doing it on a chest press machine is not the same. Go to the gym, video tape your loud mouth actually doing work, upload it, and the I'll give you some props but you can't go bragging without proof.

    my personal best is 350 when i was 16, now i am at like 280 and i am 18 lol. and i got like 16 reps of 225 before

  • @EnjoyMarijuana no, i only max 440-450 tops, and i do 225x35. i got a 225x30 vid on my utube if u want to see. but it isnt as good as i could of done. cuz i was really sick with 102+ fever. but yeah the charts say it should be 500+ max. ever is diff tho. some ppl good at endurance and others at over all strength. hope that helps m8 :)

  • I GUARANTEE your not a natural lifter, even though it was a good, solid lift. Bench pressing 405 and over is very difficult for a natural lifter. For a guy in a gym who weighs 250 or less, and bench 405 or more WITHOUT ROIDS', thats the equivalent of a guy running a 4 minute mile - it can be done, just not likely ....

  • How 18yr old kids can bench over 400 while I'm at 300 without steroids is mind boggling. Almost too good to be true eh?

  • Yup I got 500 for two (touch and go) about three weeks ago. I've changed my workouts since then from 3x5 to 3x10. needless to say, I weighted 260lbs the day I hit it. I'll get a video up when I go to a different gym since I can't record videos on university property (WTF).

  • your bp is low for someone that squats 405,, deadlifts 330... i'm 5'7 156lbs and i bp-250, squat 335, and deadlift 355 at 10percent bf

  • yeah my numbers on squats and deadlifts are way up now, yet my barbell bench is still relatively weak. I recently swiched to dumbbells for chest I think I like dumbbells better.

  • you will probably hit 500lbs when you are in your early twenties. You are one hell of a strong 18 yr old. Pro football players can't even bench what you do. impressive !!

  • good lift. Would slow down your descent and even out your press. Keep lifting!

  • you should be careful lifting weights like that without wrapping your thumbs... i know its unlikely that you may lose your grip but still quite dangerous, especially if you dont use gloves

    I'm 220 lbs bench is 230 and squat is 300

  • dude..impressive lift...I'd say you could get 405LBS for a legal rep...still this rep was damn clean and controlled. As far as no foundation. No matter how skinny his legs are a 700LBS dead lift isn't 100% back LOL...his legs are definitely strong. No comment on the juice....18 is pretty damn young to be at this level but I don't jump the juice accusations like most. Some people are just very strong natural. keep the vids coming.

  • Perhaps you should watch his 700 raw deadlift. It wouldnt pass a meet since it had a hitch, but he definately has a solid foundation.

  • That can be true, there can be a number of factors however that play into the speed or lack thereof in which somebody gains, i saw his post where he said that he did 455 two weeks later. So maybe six months, mabey a year and six months, I was just throwning a time out there haha.

  • yeah it almost seems the higher you go the harder it is to gain, i hit 455 whenever that was you saw the post, maybe in like spring but i got my eyes set on 5 plates, last week i tried but after 455 i tried 475 and i couldnt put it up. give me a few more weeks, at the very least before i turn 19 in november.
