@jaelynnful message me the sounds he is making, try to describe them to me. ive had guinea pigs for the past 6years so i've grown quite familiar to their sounds haha (:
I had a guinea pig... He was an American silky, black with blonde highlights, longhaired. He was only a year an a half when he died a few weeks ago while I was on vacation. He was in the care of our, loving, expert pet sitter, who said he was acting quiet, but otherwise normal, until she found him dead in his cage. The only health problem that we know of is a previously chipped tooth and mites that were being treated by gel. The chipped tooth did not at all affect his eating, it healed prior to
You have to hold the rear end of any animal with a spine like that (which is most). A cat or dog would also hate to be held only under its shoulders - so think of small animals as having the same C-shaped spine. It is NOT made to bear weight vertically like ours. I think people forget that with smaller animals, because they are so light.
@berggoldberd619 OMG PLEASE TAKE HIM TO THE VET!!! if there seems to be nothing wrong with him, r u outting anything in his water like calsium that desolves in water? if ur using anything like that it can change the taste of water and therefor ur piggie dosent want to drink it.
@R4ND0MGUYG4M3R5 it is scared right now. At first, instead of picking it up, just talk softly and say things like "Who is a good piggy? You are the best piggy ever! You are so fluffy" Do that for a week. then, start petting it. If it runs away from your hand, wait a minute and try again. when it stays, give it a small peiece of lettuce. When it starts letting you pet it, then pick it up.
Ugh, I'll never forget going to a petstore once and one of the workers was asked by as customer if he would sex one of the guinea pigs---but when he did he ROUGH HANDLED the poor piggy, by roughly grabbing it by the shoulders and flipping it over while it kicked so its back got a nice twist...I was like "O___O OH MY GOD! DON'T DO IT LIKE THAT!!!" And he said "oh it wont' hurt them".
I know better. A friend of mine once mishandled one of my pigs and caused her to dislocate her hip...>=(
@FootballRevshawn Actually, you would be suprised how many people this helped. Guinea pigs are VERY fragile animals, one drop and they can break their back. This video is actually important.
@FootballRevshawn Actually, this is a needed vid, apparently, because I've seen idiots all over youtube holding G Pigs up in the air and all kinds of careless ways. One drop and you could end up with a dead G. Pig. They also tend to try to jump out of your hands when you go to put them down and if you don't have proper hold of them to begin with, they can land face first and break their teeth. They are not as easy to hold as a cat or a dog.
@dolphins816 just stroke him/her first so that he gets used to u, then try to pick up. don't give up too easily if they run away 'cause they'll learn if they do that then u will leave them alone
I always carried my guinea pigs around on a extra soft, heart-shaped pillow. It looked like they are kings and I'm their royal servant carrying them around. :3

@IsabellJustice This was a couple of years ago... But I would say it was one meter in lenght and about 30 - 40 cm's broad. It was a very small cage for two piggys but I simply couldent afford anything bigger at the time. I had to let them out on the floor a lot instead which often led to broken cables etc... :)
Ok, I'm from germany so I can only give you some german sites (with pictures) how you could make your own "cage".. one that is bigger than this bad cages from the stores.. if you want to, I'll send soem ideas.. And: It is very dangerous for the guinea pigs to mumble on cabels, so you should take them out of their ways. But to let them out on the floor is good.
@IsabellJustice Thats very nice of you but as I said this was a couple of years ago. I moved away from where I lived and therefore couldent take care of them anymore so I had to give them away. It sure was a sad day that day. But anyways thanks for the offer! :)
My guinea pig bear hates to be picked up like that . I think he's ticklish or something but he always bites me and idk any other way to pick him up ): also when I try to get him he runs around the cage like I'm gonna kill him ); he can be a jerk sometimes (:
@GRiM3TiNG its ok getting one on its own but from some days or months it would want a friend so if you have girl with girl boy with boy never girl with boy !!!!!!!! give you guinea pig cabage carrot guine pig food and some hay they love hay ! remember let it somtimes out the cage or it will bite da cage
if its starts bitting the cage put a blnket on the cage not the whole cage or it wont breath thx from Paulina
hey guys someone told that you're not suppost to have a female and a male guinea pig on the same "cage", is that true? and if so why? i need a answer ASAP please!!!!
@jayjayprincess So they wont breed... the female can get pregnant as soon as she gives birth (so you would have back to back babies). Plus if the female has babies for the first time after around 7 months it can kill her to give birth.
@jayjayprincess A female guinea pig can be sexually mature at only 4 weeks old. Of course it's not good to breed them that early. However after she has turned around 7-8 months old her pelvic bones can stiffen making it difficult for her to deliver babies after that age (for the first time). Let's say she had babies at 4 months old... then she will be fine having babies again in the future. But if she is having her first babies at say 1 year old it can be dangerous for her. Understand?
@jayjayprincess you never put a girl and a boy guinea pig ya ask me why becasue 1. you have more guinea pige need to have more food 2. more poop 3. female guinea pigs to peee more than poop 4. is da worst one if your guniea pig has babies the girl might die so i only buy or you buy girl with girl or boy with boy you pick
@Paulinad25 Too late! i got them on the same day. i asked the man in the petstore if it was ok and he said it wouldnt be a problem, i only saw that info later...i dont want Kikas to die! =(
@jayjayprincess well dont have one female with a boy you keep your guinea pigs like this boy+boy+boy=:) girl+girl+girl:) but ! girl+girl+girl+boy:( one of the girl dies its true its all over the internet+ i can help you if you want to keep you guinea pigs in good care plz get another cage and do this put you boys in one cage and girls in da other ;)and remember somtimes make you guinea pigs in your room noy only in the cage all time ;) from Paulina
I just got two guinea pigs today. They are still really scared and hate being picked up for right now. when i hold them they always shake and tremble.
Im wondering if you guys have any advice, I've had my guinea pig for more than three months but she still runs around in terror when I go to pick her up. Ive been bitten before as well.
@lyinglikelions wow. I just got my guinea pig. He absolutely loves me. At first he was scared but you just have to try. I you bought the igloo thing turn it upside down and chase him into the corned of his cage. he will climb in cause he might fell a bit trapped. Take him out still with the igloo then scoop him up in your hands. start petting and stroking him. also try handfeeding
@TimbasKid879 incense can cause really bad lung problems. Think of it this way, they are really small so what seems like a little stick of incense to you is a giant burning log to them. Try inhaling fire smoke, thats what it is like for them around burning candles and especially incense.
if you hold my piggies in 1 hand their fat falls over the edge O.o Can they die from being overfed? I give them breakfast lunch and dinner of fresh veggies and new dry food everyday (all day access)
my friend got a guniiy pig when i hold her liek that she just move into my arm and snuggles up to me soo cute
(she loves me alot beucse i pick her up right you should see the way my friend pick her up) she gets her hurt my friend is 8 and i am 12 so i can see why she pick her up wrong i am going to show her this vid
Thanks

@jayjayprincess So they wont breed... the female can get pregnant as soon as she gives birth (so you would have back to back babies). Plus if the female has babies for the first time after around 7 months it can kill her to give birth.
Flottastrympa 1 year ago
@Flottastrympa hey thanks for the info. But i dont get something: a female could die if she has babbies for the 1st time 7 months after what?
jayjayprincess 1 year ago
@jayjayprincess A female guinea pig can be sexually mature at only 4 weeks old. Of course it's not good to breed them that early. However after she has turned around 7-8 months old her pelvic bones can stiffen making it difficult for her to deliver babies after that age (for the first time). Let's say she had babies at 4 months old... then she will be fine having babies again in the future. But if she is having her first babies at say 1 year old it can be dangerous for her. Understand?

@Flottastrympa Hey... thank you soooo much!!!
jayjayprincess 1 year ago
@jayjayprincess you never put a girl and a boy guinea pig ya ask me why becasue 1. you have more guinea pige need to have more food 2. more poop 3. female guinea pigs to peee more than poop 4. is da worst one if your guniea pig has babies the girl might die so i only buy or you buy girl with girl or boy with boy you pick

Im wondering if you guys have any advice, I've had my guinea pig for more than three months but she still runs around in terror when I go to pick her up. Ive been bitten before as well.
lyinglikelions 1 year ago
@lyinglikelions wow. I just got my guinea pig. He absolutely loves me. At first he was scared but you just have to try. I you bought the igloo thing turn it upside down and chase him into the corned of his cage. he will climb in cause he might fell a bit trapped. Take him out still with the igloo then scoop him up in your hands. start petting and stroking him. also try handfeeding

gymnasticslover2465 2 years ago
is it alright if i burn incense in my room or can it harm them
TimbasKid879 2 years ago
@TimbasKid879 incense can cause really bad lung problems. Think of it this way, they are really small so what seems like a little stick of incense to you is a giant burning log to them. Try inhaling fire smoke, thats what it is like for them around burning candles and especially incense.

if you hold my piggies in 1 hand their fat falls over the edge O.o Can they die from being overfed? I give them breakfast lunch and dinner of fresh veggies and new dry food everyday (all day access)
Kirby4ever101 2 years ago 2
Kirby4ever:
The cause of your guinea pigs overweight may be the lunch. You should only be feeding them in the morning and in the evening.
Hope this helped! :)
