  • what type of speakers our those on ur tv there awsome!!!!!!!!!

  • @hunterbryant835 Thanks... they sound great as well. They are LS6s from AV123... although AV123 is no longer around.

  • U got a goon set up

  • I just got the dm6 and im pritty sure you need the ion rocker drum brain and cables to connect the Dm6 to ps3 rockband tree.

  • what kind of speakers are those by your tv?

  • so do you need the gh wt drum set to make it work?

  • 1 dislike, my fault D:

  • Does this work on yamaha dtk500

  • Hi. I have the same electronic roland set as you. I don't however, have rock band or guitar hero. I see there are World Tour drum set modules on ebay for a sweet price. If i buy the module, should this technique work? Or would i need the whole World Tour drum set?

    Thanks

  • how the hell du get a GHWT drum kit to work on RB mine doesn't work?

  • and ow yeah can i use a td-4 module for this?

  • please make a video for wii please!~~~

  • are those mesh pads? like the roland td 4kx?

  • would it work for the Alesis DM6?

  • @btsax2 I'm not sure. Does the DM6 have a MIDI out and can you modify the MIDI notes?

  • @0shadyshadow0 No, it dont, i have the Alesis DM6.

  • Thanks for posting, unfortunately for Wii users this may not work. According to the compatibility matrix on Wired the Guitar Hero World Tour drum won't work with Rock Band on Wii. Love to hear if anyone was able to get it to work.

  • @jonapril011 I was able to get this to work with the Wii GHWT kit. It is triggering my TD-6 and working perfect in RB 2, 3, Band Hero and all GH games that support the drums. Just wanted to let everyone know.

  • Can you edit MIDI notes and the THRESHOLD setting with the TD-4k2 (TD-4 Module)?

and I've only ever played rock band drums (using the kit that came with the game). Which is more realistic/fun/hard: Rock band or guitar hero?

    Thanks so much!

  • Can you use Tge yamaha DTXpress iv special for this??

  • what about guitar hero

  • very nice drum

  • Does it work with a Roland TD-6V??

  • @TORNADOfromHELL According to the Roland TD-6V manual on page 64, you can modify the MIDI note numbers for each pad, so this will work.

  • do you have to have a guitar hero drum set or can i use a rock band 1 kit?

  • @ethanbrochill Unfortunately, the RB 1 kit does not come with a MIDI input, so you cannot use the RB 1 kit for this.

  • i have a roland td 4 and a guitar hero warriors of rock detachable module. i follow all the directions but when i hit the pads the notes dont register i dont understand plz help

  • @unknown9528 I believe the module has to be attached to the Guitar Hero drums at all times for it to work. Did you detach it?

  • @StileIsSpeshal No, I didn't detach it. I just have the GH drums sitting next to my drum set when I play Rock Band.

  • can i do this with my ion ied 05 drum kit with a digital pacific drum brain

  • hey i hav a question:

i hav a casio midi drum set LD-80, and the drums hav 7 pads in total. is there a way to play pro drums in RB3 using the 7 pads? (ex: assign 1 pad for blue tom and another pad for blue cymbal)

  • the ion drum rocker module does it so much eaiser. just unplug the cables from the back of the roland module, and plug em into the ion module. clean. done. no lag. no extra kit. nothing. with a multi clamp and an l arm you can even add the ion module to the rack of the roland kit. my cousin and i did it with the td-12.

  • will it work with a midi to USB cable straight to the Xbox 360? (:

  • does it work with millenium mps-100?

  • Does it work with DD502?

  • @CityRuler1 I quickly looked at the DD502 manual and I didn't see any way to change the MIDI notes for each of the pads. Sorry.

  • @0shadyshadow0 Damn, I might get ION Module

  • @0shadyshadow0 how bout a DD908

  • @callmethepunisher01 I looked at the Pintech manual for the DD908s. Unfortunately, the manual is a little confusing and I'm not certain if it's possible. On page 15 of the manual it talks about setting the Drum Voice and then on page 16 it describes how to change the 'Note value'. It says, "Change the note value of each pad's MIDI out." I think this means it's possible, but I'm not 100% sure. Good luck!

  • can i do it with a rockband drum ? because you are using a guitar hero

  • @iglb23 The RockBand drum sets do not come with a MIDI out connection so you cannot use them unfortunately.

  • @iglb23 The only way you could do that for rockband drums is if you have the MadCatz Portable drums.

  • what size midi cable

  • @killerbot360 What do you mean by size? It's a standard MIDI connection on both the Roland and GH drum set. If you are referring to length... I think I have a 12 foot cable... but this doesn't matter either.

  • is the midi were the drumpedal goes???

  • @zadakbkadaz Nope. There is a MIDI out connection on the TD-9 module.

  • You forgot ORANGE = 49

  • Nice job I am also a visual person and I have both the rockband drums and the td9. Again thanks!

  • @0shadyshadow0 i have the exact same xbox type (elite), drum model (TD9-KX), and same brand amplifier (simmons) but mine is a DA 50. i also use dual chain driven iron cobra bass pedals

  • holy shit, nice speakers

  • Is it possible to use the rock band 2-3 drums as an electric drum set?!

  • Does it work with a TD-4?

    nice vid btw (:

  • @RoJoproductions123 Yes, it should work. See page 41 of the TD-4 manual for instructions on configuring MIDI notes for each pad.

  • Motherchicken! Those speakers! Where do you live ^^

  • @SaulRisteTV Unfortunately, the RB 2 drum set does not have a MIDI in connection, so no you cannot.

  • I want to use my electric drums for rock band and guitar hero instead of buying a drumset for one of those games. (i dont have a drum controller for the game)

is there anyway to do this without the drum conroller

if not, theres a way with a midi controller thing, does anyone know where to buy those

  • @oween5 There will be an option available at the end of November 2010. The Mad Catz Rock Band 3 MIDI Pro adapter will be ~$30. Do a search for this. I can't wait.

  • @0shadyshadow0 isnt this only for xbox though.... cuz i have a ps3

  • @oween5 This accessory will be available for XBOX, PS3, and Wii.

  • @0shadyshadow0 it says its exclusively for Rb3 and for now i want it for my guitar hero 5 and my green day rock band.

  • @oween5 Yeah, we'll see if truly is exclusive for RB3 or not. Still... RB3 is a great upgrade if you like rhythm games.

  • @0shadyshadow0 ya im really into them, started with gh3, then i got gh2, now i have gh5 and green day RB, never was really into RB before they started getting Way better then GH

  • @0shadyshadow0 You can also use the Midi Rocker LX from bytearts.com

  • Comment removed

  • Hey, got it all assigned and connected, it works, but there's like a 30ms delay in what i play and what i hear from the tv.. is it correctable?

  • @kubavitasek This should be. Just go through the Calibration program on RB.

  • So I have my GH drums hooked up to my Roland TD-12 electronic drums and all of the pad numbers are assigned correctly. However, it seems that while I play the Roland kit, the GH game doesn't seem to recognize the hits as the "success meter" goes to red and then the game dies. Do you know how I can fix this? Is it a sensitivity problem? Help and thanks for your video!

  • @Karenroma Did you remap the MIDI notes for each of the toms? This is key. Also, is the cable plugged in correctly from the TD-12 to the GH drums?

Go into freestyle mode on the game. Are the notes being registered correctly?

    HTH

  • In order to work on a Roland HD-1 and Guitar Hero 5 PS3, may I just buy a MIDI>USB adapter for Guitar Hero Drums and plug?

  • does the electric kit have to be a roland? or can it be any electric set that has a midi out port?

  • @phx13balla Yes, this will work on many electronic sets with a MIDI out. The most important thing is the ability to modify the MIDI notes to correspond with what RB is expecting.

  • @0shadyshadow0 ok i have a midi out on my alesis kit, what do i have to set my pads to for them to work with guitar hero?

  • Does it work on PS3 ?

  • @Stalnex Yes, it should work just fine.

  • @0shadyshadow0 Thanks.

  • Can it be rock band drums or does it have to be guitar hero?

  • @CunananBanana The Rock Band 2 drum set does not have a MIDI port, only the Guitar Hero ones do. When Rock Band 3 comes out, I will purchase the Mad Catz MIDI PRO-Adapter and no longer need the GH drumset.

  • Totally unrelated to the drums, but those look like some ballin ass speakers.

  • can you connect a Electronic drum kit to a PS3 with midi to USB cable or do you need to hook up a Midi controller?

  • when rock band 3 comes out those electronic drum sets will totally come alive, since rock band 3 will allow for a 7 piece kit.

  • I have a question. When you connect the Roland drumset to the GH drumset can you then be sure that the 4 pads on screen matches the location of your 4 toms? Or do you maybe have to fiddle with the wires a little bit? :)

  • @pelledenzeje You do not need to fiddle with the wires. You are configuring each tom to correspond with the correct colored pad via the MIDI numbers. This is why they line up.

  • what about the cymbal?... and why the bass drum are setted on a cymbal?

  • @EMGXX84 Since RB doesn't really have knowledge about cymbals within it songs, I've configured the green tom and the green cymbal to be the same MIDI note. When I play, I try to hit what was played in the song. This is definitely more challenging cause you need to listen closely. ;-)

  • will this work for wii?

  • omg i have the same drum set!

  • does it work with rock band 2 drum set.

  • Dude you must have spent sooooo much money on that audio set that is useless, sorry for telling ya

  • @skiingfreestyle

    A) Do you actually have any idea how much he spent? How do you know he didn't get it free?

    B) How do you know it's useless? Did you go to his house to try it or something?

    C) "Sorry for telling ya"? You clearly aren't since you're comment was apparently made with the intention of being a dick. I suppose you reckon you know more about it than the guy who actually owns it and uses it, otherwise you wouldn't offer this "advice".

  • @93cian Actually I make/build speakers. Yeah, that thing is gonna sound loud, loud but not right.

  • Does this work on PS3?

  • Good job on the vid! Very straightforward and covered all the steps. One piece of constructive video criticism...when you zoomed in to show the settings on the controller or your notes, they were a little blurry. Was your autofocus off?

    Anyway thanks again!

  • will this work for the wii?

  • Hello, I have an ion and I want to buy a modulator to connect with my battery gh know if this works with the Modulator DTXPLORER yamaha or upgrade kit that brings the ion?

  • I'm not sure. The DTXPL manual doesn't describe a method for changing the MIDI notes. All the MIDI notes are listed on page 31 of the manual and they don't include all the ones I have listed in the 'Info' of this video. A quick Internet search shows modifications you might be able to do to accomplish this. Good luck!

  • will this work for guitar hero 4 wii using yamaha dtxplorer?

  • What if you don't have a Guitar Hero drum kit?

  • @YouHaveMetYourMaker If you don't have a GH drum kit there are other mods available on the Internet. Last time I checked, they weren't cheap though.

  • So, if I want to play Rock Band with an E-kit, and I already have a (Insert adjective for new/broken) set of Rock Band (1 or 2) drums, I have to buy another drum peripheral so that I can play Rock Band?

  • @Pizzapie7738 Unfortunately, this is true. Hopefully when new RB drums come out (whenever that is) they will have a MIDI out.

  • does this work for band hero?

  • Will this work with an Alesis DM6 Kit? It only has a USB port.

  • i new this would work i have a roland TD-10 very cool thank you.

  • so why would i need to hook it up to the gh set if i already no the numbers?

  • The MIDI notes need to be converted to a format the Xbox understands. The GH drum set does this... and there are other devices available as well. Good luck!

  • i know the alesis DM5 has a mmidi out but can I edit the midi numbers on it to match the rock band colors?

  • Good question. Check the DM5 manual to see if this is possible.

  • I got Yamaha DTX there is no "Midi" button..

  • Without a MIDI out on the drum module, you won't be able to use this method to connect to Rock Band.

  • It still recognize the hit TWO TIMES! That setting with Thresold didn't work! :(

    HELP!!!

  • tighten the wingnut on the cymbal.

  • or alternatively, make the re trig cancel a little higher

  • @twgoldwood

I didn't work. I'm not 100% sure I found the right option. Any other advice?

  • @SephN6 do you have palystation 2 GHWT drum kit? if so it won't work on rock band, as the GHWT P2 drums doesen't work on rock band

  • how could i do this with the roland hd-1 kit? please help

  • If the drum kit uses 1/4" plugs (guitar plugs) to connect to the pads, you can purchase an Ion drum rocker module from ion online. If the cables are separate and connected altogether by a cable snake, you don't have to buy the extra cables. The module cost 90 bucks for the Xbox 360 and 100 for the PS3 (xbox one is refurbished) and the cables will cost you around 30 bucks. It'll be a loss of 130 bucks but that is my best suggestion. Hope I helped.

  • Just plug in the drumset with a Midi Cable. Since the HD-1 is on Midi Lockdown, you can't change the configuration of the pads. So your gonna be stuch with red as snare, High hat as yellow, tom 1 as blue, tom 2 as green, kick as kick, crash as orange. There is no way to change it unless you get a diffrent type of Midi adapter such as the Sethbox or the Midi Rocker LX.

  • is this only for a roland kit , i have a arbiter xtd 102 kit..

  • @NsNBobbysto basically any electronic drums as long as you can change the midi channel notes on each pad

  • Can you get midi cables what work with the Wii cause my rock band kit broke and im getting electric drums. Can i just plug it in and change the midi?

  • @Magnesiur No. You need a GH:WT kit to interpret the MIDI signals for the console.

  • @tarponsalltheway Is there any way to connect the electronic drums without a GH:WT kit?

  • nice vid but thts guitar hero not rock band

  • dude nice setup

  • I use a Ion Rockband drumset and when I hit cymbals in drum fills, I actually hear the appropriate cymbal. I was just wondering if there was an easier way than to buy an expensive control box.

I found one online for around $500 that will work with any drum set and do the whole thing right - I really don't like hearing a tom when I am playing realistic drum fills... but I guess for a cheap solution this is 'okay' :)

    Thanks for sharing!

    Shea

  • Would this work with the ION Drum Rocker?

  • The only problem I see with what you've done is evident in your video. When you hit the cymbal, you hear the game play a tom sound.

I use a set of IONs, and when I play the cymbals in freestyle mode, I hear a crash instead. I can play green tom and get the floor-tom sound, but hit my green cymbal and get a crash cymbal.

This is important in RB2 because you can play them in drum fills for a better sound.

Have you figured a way to make the cymbals work correctly in the game?

    THX!

  • You can't since the game recognizes the signal input from the GH:WT kit.

  • try "abetteropinion"'s video

  • can you shows how to connect it using a rock band kit plz :D i dont wanna spend an extra 150 bucks

  • I had the same problem with double hit cymbal. You just have to make it less shaky.

  • u can use many kinds of MIDI instrument on this if u connect to GH:WT our school got electroic drums whit MIDI-port

  • Does this work with the Yamaha DTXplorer?

  • I was wondering the same thing.

  • If it has a MIDI-OUT

  • do you have to have a World tour set or can you use a rockband Drum SEt? and do you have to have that type of module or can you use any module that the Electronic drumset comes with Plz comment back

  • The RockBand drum set does not have a MIDI port so this type of connection doesn't work with just the RB kit. You do not need the specific module I have. You just need to ensure you can customize the MIDI notes on the module.

  • and actually...there's a guitar hero drum fix updater that you need to use to lower the settings down to avoid double triggering and sensitivity issues...so you won't need to touch the settings of ur Roland...not sure how the TD9 works with that but i would bet that it changes the parameters for ALL of your presets universally...not just one # of the preset...so that would be a pain to change all the time to play for real and switch to Rock Band....

  • do the cymbal and pads match up to the same midi number? aren't they a little different?

  • Remember, Rock Band only has four possible notes. So I setup the cymbals and the pads to be the same MIDI numbers. I can play either all toms, or play a combination of toms and cymbals.

  • hehe...i already figured this much...just was clearing up...to my knowledge...the actual game module regarding the cymbals sends out the same not as the corresponding toms but with an extra directional pad up or down in conjunction with pressing the button to acquire the cymbal sounds on free mode or fill ins....thanks tho

  • awesome work, must be fun 2 play!!!!!

  • wow, nice work, thanks for the post!

  • Is there any way to make the yellow sound like a tom not a hi hat

  • can you do this with a rock band kit?

  • Unfortunately, the RockBand kit drums do not have a MIDI port. Which means you won't be able to do this with their equipment.

  • no you cant

  • so basically, any drumkit that has a MIDI out can be configured this way?

  • Not quite. The drumkit needs to have the ability to reconfigure the MIDI notes as mentioned in the video. By default, most drumkits don't have all the notes configured this way.

  • ok great, thanks for the reply. i'll be sure to check on this, i really want to have a setup like yours!

  • um yes yo can take the cord lets say the yellow is the hi hat cymbal take the cord from the hi hat cymbal and plug it in to the tom works just as fine

  • ...or you could just buy an ION module from EBay. :\

  • that thing is a piece of crap.

  • No, I mean the module, the brain. Not the set itself, that's entry level. If you have good e-drums, though, you don't need the GHWT kit, just the Ion module/brain.

  • Comment removed

  • where do u get the cable?

  • What Bass pedal you got?

  • I believe the bass pedal is a DW7002PT.

  • Anyone know if a Simmons SD5K Electric Kit works like this and how much it costs overall? Because I have one, and I'm thinking of getting an Ion Kit and a Destroyer Pedal, if this costs less than about $275 [which is the cost of the Ion and the Destroyer] because I wanna save money. :)

If this costs less than $100, I can get a Tritton AXPro too! :D

    PLEASE HELP!

  • MIDI cable length is not relevant. It should work regardless of length (assuming the MIDI cable is functional).

  • Where did you plug the USB into?

  • Nvm, turns out the M-Audio Uno doesn't work with this. >.>

  • This is probably a really stupid question but do u just hook up the ghwt drumset to your ps3 and then run the cable from midi out to edrums and that's how it all recognizes everything?

  • can i connect my e-drum direct to my pc?

  • yeah u just need a midi to usb cable. plug into ur computer, buy ezdrummer or addictive drums. U can get amazing sounds out of a crap module

  • Does this work with a Hayman DD-03-Plus?

  • Dude the module alone is about 100$ dollars. I have a midi in my drum set but I can't figure out how to set it.

  • its not $100, its $1000 lol

  • Is that rock band 1 or 2? I have roland td9-s. The game always thought that i was the microphone so don`t know what to do!! please help!!

  • I have only tried this with RockBand 2. The TD9 will work. Good luck!

  • hey i have a few questions.

I am getting a DTX explorer, would that work with that? and say i set it up to play rock band, do i have to set anything to play real drums again? like everytime i want to play rock band or real drums do i have to do something with the settings? and how do i plug it in and all?

    thank you.

  • Is there a way to use any edrum set (with a MIDI In/Out and USB connectors) in Rock Band Without having GHWT drum kit?

    Something like adapters, cables, ecc.?

  • I was wondering if I can plug the MIDI cable into the Rockband drumset because I don't have the GHWT drumset.
