  • Fuckin' awesome.

  • That is one amazing beatboxer!

  • I totally have a feeling she's singing at me. Nobody knows who this is WAHAHHAA

  • Yeah this girl is right......(YOU HAD YOUR CHANCE YOU BLEW IT!!) but hey you gave it a shot!! MAD PROPS!! STAY BLESSED x

  • Your soloist screams the whole time. I think a better choice of soloist would fix several problems within the arrangement

  • The "tone deafness" and "unfocused pitch" that were mentioned below are probably a combination of a soprano singing a part that is lower than the stuff she normally sings and bad monitoring equipment.

That being said, whoever she is Good Fookin' Job at the high chest note. :)

  • shes so out!

  • so she's kinda really super tone deaf WTF.. ew

  • If you're serious, you have NO idea what the meaning of tone deaf is... and no she's not at all

  • If you want to hear some more great collegiate a cappella, check out Undeclared from Luther College! Let us know what you think! Just search for "Undeclared Luther College."

  • Regardless of the lead singer's unfocused pitch, this is the best acapella version I've found.

  • lol the beatboxer sick dude

  • I secretly love this song :D

    It's not a secret anymore :/

  • This is good! good a-capella!

the girl is really good, her voice is sharp and clear, she's a real Broadway voice.

There is no argue about the fact she sung it how it should be sung. period.

  • yeah; she has a good voice. the parts were also on point. 4 stars.

  • that was pretty good. i like how the singers for the background helped the soloist.

  • y everyone dissing the solest she was amazing

  • Rule number one of a cappella arranging. . .arrange to your group's strengths, not just the songs you want to sing. Gotta consider if you've got a soloist who can handle the WHOLE song before you decide to perform it. Arrangement is nice.

  • anyone who has heard this song knows this girl sang it the way it was meant to be sung.

  • she did until she screamed.

  • This needs some better accuracy from the soloist. It was okay, but it didn't ahve that extra spark.

  • F#...

    nice...

  • That was really good, I enjoyed the music and screaming lol

  • I have the pleasure to sing with Katrina and all that needs to be said is that her skill is of the highest level. I cannot imagine many groups have someone like her. And btw she is very much a soprano. Listen to her go wild in our rendition of "Move" for proof.

  • word

  • Maybe that part of the song was meant to be a "scream".The Scattertones are a group of not just singers but musicians and the way she sang the bridge and the confidence she looked like she had while she sang it shows that maybe it was meant to be a "scream". It's like when writers break grammar rules while writing a novel; they do so for an affect or to create a tone and can KNOWINGLY break the rules to do so. I'm not discrediting anyone else's opinion, but put another perspective out there.

  • You can't call screaming a "amazing job".

But nevertheless, not seeing the bridge, good job :)

  • amazing !!! and leave the girl alone it was an amazing job !

  • She sounds amazing until the bridge- but yeah, during the bridge, she's screaming.

  • She screamed. The higher octives were too high for her.

Other than that, she has an amazing voice - as long as she sticks to the lower ranges. Otherwise she's just going to strain her voice.

guitarguy, shut up. Shichan wasn't attacking her.

  • She screamed....

but other than that I like it...

    but still...she screamed.

  • wtf thats a frikken high note to hit

shichan i wanna see you sing that high

    in chest voice

  • Sorry. Im an alto and so is she. Her voice fits the song but that note wasn't a note. That was a scream. It is just my opinion. A very honest opinion. I would love to SING that note but if youd like to hear me SCREAM i can't because the first thing you learn in vocal lessons is not to scream. or talk for long periods of time. or cough. Those kinds of things. So quit being an ass. It's just my opinion. I have mine. and you have yours.

  • an ass?

    dang what a good comeback

the way you pointed out that she screamed really sounded like you think she is inferior to you.

    that's all

and thats not the first thing you learn in voice instruction

  • She is not inferior. And that's the first thing I learned.

  • whats wrong with you..shichan11 was just stating that she screamed..which in fact she did..thats not saying ne wrong..he/she was just stating a fact..and personally im a soprano and i think that if people cant sing that high then they shouldnt strain themselves..but she does have a wonerful voice..:)

  • That is supposed to be a chest G and it was in KC's version and it is in this. The traditional voice instruction is out the window here. Katrina did fine, no need to be pissy.

  • @ShiChan11 what you're saying is analogous to saying a guitar shouldn't be played with distortion. Just because classical voice training tells you to do it one way does not make it universally correct. Human creativity should not be limited by fixed rules and styles.

  • No I agree, she's sounds much more comfortable in the lower register. It's very hard to sing that high in her chest voice, which is what she's trying to do, or at least it sounds like that. It wouldn't sound that strained if she was in her head voice, that's not hard for women.

  • Well really she should mix, if she sang in head voice it would ruin the song.

  • true. those notes are best left to head voice. the end with the low notes sounded so sweet, but compare that to the straining at "again", which just sounded...not good.

  • cool!

  • wow!!, increíble!!! lo mejor!!

  • a couple intches to close to the microphone from perfect. -very nice

  • very very good, just like kelly clarkson :)xx

  • the solo person goes just a bit to high

but apart from that a commendable effort

    =)

  • Nah, I don't think so. If you heart the original, Kelly Clarkson hits the register pretty high ;-)

  • too my it just sounds a bit too high

    like she's struggling

but that's just my opinion and preference

i'm not a music teacher or anything so i don't know if it was 'right'

apart from that a great song

  • nope, she wasn't sharp, she strained, differences.

  • Never said she was, I just said I would have preferred it without the high notes

  • Um, yeah she is sharp at certain moments, especially on the first "gooooone"

  • i agree - on "gone" she strains so it has an unfocused tone. her high notes are definitely not as good as her low notes

  • She probably doesn't have a monitor on, so she has trouble finding notes...

  • psh,. she found the note, sure. what she didn't do was SING.

  • sounded like she was straining on the lower notes in the verses.

  • the soloist is very good. I love this!!! this takes talent and all of you performing have it. great job and keep up the awesome work :)

  • This is good!

  • this is amazing . this is so clever & insanely unique . the soloist is very good , & the entire group is incredibly talented . :]

  • best acapella performance on youtube.

  • i meant underappreciated

  • great panning. a very unappreciated technique in these acapella vids.

  • Panning? I don't mean to be rough but how can you hear panning on a mono track? :-)

  • amazing, thats all i have to say!!!

  • what a rubbish song. you guys made it sound really good though. nice one.

  • Soloist started out a bit show tune-y, but made up for it w/ the chest voice belting high F#! I here you chick! I really like this interpretation. It's hard to vocally reproduce the already synthesized sounds in pop music. Great Job! Keep singing and Having Fun!!!

  • Damn!is this what they learn in college now? I'm in the wrong generation, lol

  • UCLA is a tragedy. An island of brilliant people in a sea off celebrity-blowing camera whores.

  • Well, somebody needs to keep Hollywood slightly grounded in reality? What use are missionaries in a perfect society? Consider our contribution to truth, justice, and the American way.

    =)

I, personally, love the Scatts this year. Search for "Nameless Song" ICCA 2008 Semis.

  • The lead singer loses some

    Depth in her voice when

    She starts the chorus...

    But the backup did great.

  • this song screwed kelly clarksons voice up. screaming is bad! even if it's just for a measure or two :( then again, i think there's a way to scream and not hurt your throat, well any ways, i liked it a lot!

  • anyone who "screams" while singing clearly isn't that experienced. Adding volume, and screaming are two different things.

  • Omg that was awesome! You guys are sick!

  • omg this si awesome!!! i got goosebumps...lol

  • rox

  • ...........wow

  • both UCLA and berkeley have excellent acapella groups!

  • i love this video! you guys are one of the best a cappella groups i've ever heard, and the girl singing has an incredible voice. rock on!!

  • omg she is screaming not singing........:S

  • yeah i know ehh..

  • omg

    thats hella awsome

    lol!

    its cool

    sounds like it

  • that was sweet!!! that singer kicked ass! great job!

  • wow... nobody can hit the high notes of kelly clarkson's, but she did it.

  • i think so too. well. she should go on american idol and get famous. yay!

  • i hate kelly clarkson but love this rendition--crazy good soloist, and nice arrangement.

  • my throat hurts after listening to her....but the song is great

  • i hear you! my throat aches as if I'd screamed my way through "again" after listening to that. EVERYWHERE else the girl was amazing...

  • thats cool

  • fantastic voice =]

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i like it--- fun

  • niceeee!!:)

  • love it.

  • people, chill, she's great - sound recording may let her down - it's an art, catching vocals - compare live to album etc...

  • Do they have inter-college a cappella comps? If not, they should! (I'm not from the US...a cappella's not big over here but I wish it was.)

  • yes they do. It's the ICCA. It is actually an international competition as well as a United States one i believe. There are a lot of the ICCA performances on here.

  • not as good as the achordants

  • yeah, I put in my "two cents" a lot, but you don't need to be so blatant. constructive criticism has its place...but really, a cappella is a lot like sports, on "any given sunday" one group can out perform another.

  • damm you guys are great!

  • agreed, just had to copy ;]

  • She didn't do a bad job...but there is a difference between belting and screaming..And she definitely screamed it. Sounded fine, but horrendous to your voice.

  • Hell with arguing over weather she can sing as good as Kelly Clarkson..

She is pretty pretty damn hot, and like hell any of you arguing about it can beat her voice.

  • agreed.

  • agreed.

  • agreed

  • look, i'm not saying she's bad, she's actually really good. i'm just saying it would have sounded better if she actually just sang it, not screamed it.

  • maybe it is her voice, who knows. whatever, it's not healthy to belt like that. you think that honestly sounds good, her screaming at the end? yeah. lemme tell you, that's quality.

  • love it, but she should try to just be herself and not copy kelly's voice. i'm sure it would have been the same but better if she didn't try to belt it all.

  • ever thought it was her voice?

  • ok she dosent sing it better than kelly.

but she dose sing it well. besides to be honest. to hit certain parts in the song, i dont see how you cannot scream lol.

  • lead singer is pretty hot

  • This is way better than the original. She doesn't yell the high notes like Kelly Clarkson

  • Nice work, love it!

  • amazing WELL DONE!!!

  • WOAH!!

HOW THE FUCK DID YOU DO THAT?

  • I was at this concert! I love katrina! and becca tang! =)

  • All I could say is...WOW!!!

  • sounds like they lowered it a bit to match her range, and she still seemed off at the higher end

  • Keep in mind that this is a live performance and hasn't been fixed up in a studio...

  • you guys a INCREDIBLE so so so so great!

  • nice

  • good job

  • word i love kelly but dayam shes hot...amazing whats hiding in colleges these days

  • A zoomba banana oomba nanna?

    Very nice. Not.

  • I love them! They're the best a capella group I've seen...

  • Very tight! Diggin that beat boxing with the inventive rhythms :D Notes were in tune but overall the chords were a little unusual in some places O__o Still awesome :D Lovely dynamics ^__^

  • lol this is great

  • She sings it better than kelly, all kelly ever does is scream to hit hard notes

  • whos your dealer? i havent had good crack in a long time.

  • Nah. No personal style. Really good karaoke and it kinda goes a little off key when she enters the high notes.

She's a great singer but...eh...definitely not better than kelly clarkson

  • i totally agree,

but it was pretty sweet =].

  • Definitely =]

  • Who is : )

  • Katrina is my cousin. she acts like my sister sometimes, so it's like i have 5 sisters instead of 4. personally, she is an awesome song, especially when she sings solo.. I just felt like sharing that..

  • lead is screaming :x

The one from the bellatones [i think] is much better! Sorry :(

  • Awesome! I love the lead singer! Totally hot! You could definitely be the next American Idol!

  • the last part's rather screechy but yeah its great (: !

  • Wow, fantastic. The soloist is amazing :O

  • shes forcing it a little bit. well a lot. and i hate that. id rather u not do it then force it. but other than some spots. shes very talented. just stop screaming

  • this is really cool

she does kinda sound like kelly clarkson

  • i don't know if its the sound quality of the video or what, but that lead singer is way too high pitch...its like screeching.

  • agh i loveee this !

  • very very nice...

  • oh..thats amazing..their voices are fantstic...

  • wow tht was amazing

  • Flabbergastedly Brilliant!

  • soloist was amazing, she really sounded like kelly clarkson... a little...

  • wow!! vry good!! i didnt think this song could be dun A Capella!!

  • holy shit that was good expecially the soloist

  • Better than I expected... :)

  • Kelly Clarkson is barely better than she is, on the belting thing at the very least. This Katrina girl is one helluva singer. Brava! And the group as a whole rocked too!

  • Darlings, she's trying to belt. She needs more work with her belting range, I'm sure her normal range is fine. Hell, she can belt a lot better than I can, and I'm sure she can belt a lot better than most of the people talking badly about this.

  • she was like screaming at 1:45 or so!!!! ouchie ears

  • You can say what you like about the lead singer. Buts shes HOTT and did a pretty good job i thought.

  • Great job!!

  • Ah, she was screaming simply because she was reaching for notes out of her range... a bit more practice with that range & she'll be at home there. She's got a beautiful voice!

  • it was ok..the lead singer was trying to hard though.

  • Why was she screaming that from 1:45-1:55??

  • could been grweat but the soloist was shouting

  • it was o k. but i think it could have been better. 4/5 for idea missing one becuase they didnt do it good enough (she had no microphone made it worse by a lot.)

  • good job

  • oh my gosh you people!

shutup they probably have to work really hard on their beatboxing and stuff and i bet none of you can do as good or even better then them.

and yeah it didn't sound like the real background music but still. a cappella is something natural, not electronic. so shutup.

and i thought she was pretty good. she still needs to work on some pitches but, whatever.

  • POOR LEAD? She had NO MICROPHONE.

  • Cant believe anyone would pan the lead. It's impossible to outsing K. Clarkson plus technical wizardry. Lead is strong.

  • yeah.. could be a better lead

  • i have to agree with lucky2xia

  • poor lead..

  • =O wow... xDD i like the tmnt one the most :B

  • waaa! amazing!!

  • amazing voice!

  • gooooooooooood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!^^^^^^

  • I hate kelly clarkson but this is cool. damn screamin bitch...

  • That guy is a good beat boxer.

  • The solo mic is too flippin loud, i can barely hear the rest of the group.

Freakin awesome though. Props to you.

  • out of all the kelly clarkson acapella's ive search on YouTube of this song...your group is by FAR the best! loving the beats, loving the voals, loving the arragement...very well done on capturing the Rockness of the song...amazing!...great job...thumbs up!

  • why the screaming?!?!

  • because kelly clarkson screams exactly like that---this girl is amazing

  • COOL~~! voice is the best instrument~!

  • sweet job

  • Very well done! Big news! It was announced on 04/26/07 that Kelly is going to tour North America in the Summer of 2007!
