not to worry assemblyday, captain bill has not faded at all! he's in full plumage revving up the airways for his 10th nelsonica in york this year!!! a two-day event, friday/saturday fourth weekend of november... you should check it out to find out for what inspring musical gems and jewels sir nelson adorns us, including a few BBD kickbacks, so i have heard rumor!!!
I remember watching this when it was first shown on TV. I recorded it by putting a microphone near the TV. I had the flu at the time, it re4ally cheered me up. Thanks so much for sharing this. Bill Nelson was a hero of mine, but like all heroes he faded away. You have revived him!
From "Sight and Sound In Concert" series. It was broadcast on BBC2 TV (Mono Sound) & BBC Radio1 (Stereo Sound) in the UK. Most S&S in concerts were recorded in the BBC's North London theatre studio. (As this one was.) The idea was to only watch the pictures and have the sound turned down on your TV, while listening to the stereo sound from the radio! (UK TV only broadcast in mono at the time!!)
As good a guitarist as Bill was, he was a great poet also. I'm not a big lyric or singer guy, but his lyrics have always been a huge cut above everyone else's. The lyrics to Terminal Street make the hair on the back of my neck stand up to this day. Brilliant man.
Thanx for this. As a late teenager in the mid 70's I fell in love with Bebop Deluxe, and, even when it wasn't remotely fashionable I would walk proud with my Albums under my arm!! A truly unsung great of the British music scene. They and Mott were the torchbearers in very different ways.
one of the first things i did when first exploring youtube was search for be bop deluxe. to find such a treasure trove of material as well as so many other fans has been an eye-opening experience for me! thank you's to everyone on here who are bringing us these incomparable works from a true genius of 20th century art. thank you for keeping the spark alive!!
my favourite band, I bought all their albums at the time when there were no Vids or DVDs,I remember taping this off the TV with a cassette, ( I think it was a sight and sound in concert) so this is a real treat. Thanks so much
Fantastic! I recorded this BBC concert back in 1978 on cassette and was over the moon when it was released on CD. However, this track was omitted from the CD. Great to see the guys in their glory days. Thanks.
Thank you Mr Wing!

I heard a voice like Winter call my name
Said, very soon that I would join them there
And all the creatures born of ink and rage and lies
Crawled from my pen and ran across the page to die...

I remember that worked very well, if you could get your parents out for the night and the speaker cables were long enough

There's a double CD called Air Age Anthology - The Very Best Of Be Bop Deluxe released in '97. It's on there.

Wow. This was super! What album is it from? I saw them in 75' in Boston when they backed up Lynyrd Skynyrd. Strange, I know.
