I'm not a pro, but I can sing in tune. I sing soprano/2nd soprano. I would like to have a big strong voice like Jennifer Hudson and Pattie Labelle, how can I accomplish that? Also, as I start to sing higher notes, my tones start to sound a little fuzzy/crackling. How can I get rid of the fuzz/crack.. sound? I Really enjoyed the demo, thanks for posting.
Great work, most teachers are real serious but you make me feel at ease, I'm hoping to be able to sing as well as play the guitar to a decent level so cheers
@blackmelon1 its all about how your voice changes when you age, im sure you can practice enough to hit high notes but your voice will still sing more comfortably as a alto

thanks for the video i tried out for a traveling singing thing and i got in i want to sound the best i can so the instructor knows that picking me was not a mistake and your lessons are helping me A LOT!!!!!!! tahnks again
Hey Erik. Really enjoy your videos. I am relatively new to singing, and recently participated in my church's mass choir practice. I don't ever think I worked my voice so hard as I did that day! During and after practice my thoat felt like it was burning, and the next day my throat was still soar. Does that mean I overdid it at practice? Do you think this pain had to do with improper technique?
When you do this and if your throat starts hurting, stop doing this, because you're straining your throat and you're damaging your vocal chord. Make sure your throat is open when you do this kind of exercise. :)
HEY THANKS FOR THISS LESSONS FOR FREE EHEH :) GOD BLESS YOU ...THANKSSSSSSSSS EHEH IM A CUBAN GIRL THAT WANTS TO BE A SINGER ANS IS STARTING SINGING BUT IM WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS HEHE
Thank you so much for uploading these videos, you're an angel!
I'm far from tone deaf and have played instruments my whole life but I have a really hard time holding my notes..because I haven't even thought about breathing lol.
fantastic starter tips, i'm a guitar player in a band, we've been struggling so much with singers, they can either sing ok, but dont learn the songs properly, like when to come in, or just plain cant sing i'm starting to consider doing it myself, was wondering if you had any tips for singing and playing at the same time, since vocal lines, and guitar parts rarely start together, i'm kinda finding it really difficult to do both together
I never thought about being a singer, until the Holy Spirit hit me; I want to sing gospel, so I starting trying to sing the “Lord’s Prayer” and the “23 Psalm.” Therefore, I go to my laptop and typed in singing lessons…God be the glory!!!! You came alive on YouTube. I just want to thank for all you lessons of excellence, I practice your lessons faithfully, and your instruction are impeccable. Oh! I sounded awful.
May God bless U and I appreciate U with all my heart,
Thnx so Much ur a great teacher because i am a major in music performance because singing is my dream and i want vocal training before i post me singing on youtube.
I am having a hard time reaching my high notes when I'm singing, when I'm there it doesn't sound as smooth as my lower notes... I tried getting air from my diaphragm and sing from there but it seems like I never get enough air... Is it still possible to reach a high note smooth and clear for a person that had a nodule operation 2-3years ago? I don't know what to do..I am very eager to learn..But I lose hope sometimes.. Hope you can help me...
@PfirsichPrinzessin94 Hey there. Thanks for watching! From a physical perspective, one can make their voice sound more "feminine" by using their falsetto more than their natural voice. From a medical perspective, there are estrogen-based perscriptions that you can take that will lessen your testosterone which can possibly result in a higher vocal timbre. I would discuss the latter with a medical physician.
Hey man, I just started singing for my church and after watching your videos my voice has become exponentially better in the matter of a few weeks! People have asked me what I did to get better so fast and I threw them your way :) You are truly blessed my friend! God bless you!
Thanks soo much! your videos really help for those of us who cant afford in person lessons! What would you recommend for someone who is tone deaf (as they say) such as myself?
I must say that you sound very professional. And that's a very good thing... I'm struggling to be a better singer and will see what your exercises etc etc can teach me. If i get the right equipment and so on i'll see if i can put up a video-response on my progress ^^... Great vid!
God bless you man...im from Australia.. Greek backgound,,,i love the fact that your a so pure ,, in the sense.... u dont ask for anything and u do all these lessons on here for free....now that is LOVE......pure..not self seeking,,, God bless you again...:)
@Agapimou6868 Thank you so much, my friend! It's comments like yours that show me that people in this world do care! I appreciate your support very much!! =)
Thanks man this is was great friendly and informative! Ive been watching loads on youtube and yours was the only one that actually taught me anything!
Man you hit the hammer on the nail cuz thats what my band leader told me i have the talent but not the technique:( i've just recently came out of my shell as a soloist i'm more of a background/ choir person.. how do i get out of the habit of singig with my throat how do i know i'm singing with my throat if i cant see or feel sumthing and is it a bad thing when you cant sing a song in the same key as the artist???
You shouldn't just breathe in a way that only results in your stomach moving in and out. You should use your diaphragm but allow your whole upper body to react to your breathing to maximise your lung efficiency, but remain relaxed at all times.
yooo Eric your lessons are really helping me alot , and i can hear my voice changing day by day , I wanna thank you for al your lessons here on youtube.
i have a question! So like when I sing without any recording or anything I seem to sound okay (to myself)
but when I record myself on anything I actually sound like im droning on and on and mumbling...it sounds very bad and i was hoping you could give me some tips on getting rid of that droning/mumbling sounds. PLEASE AND THANK YOU! (:
btw do you know tim mcilrath of rise against? they are punk and have sum great vocals! n i'd love to sing like that one day. (:
hii, quick question! do i just practice this or could i do something else like
go on the piano and hum/sing the notes c,d,e,f,g and backwards and continue on from there to f,g,a,Bb,c? and so on? because i find ur lessons alot harder and this other thing much easier. thanks and great lesson either way! (:
@alixcho Using a piano in your practices is one of the BEST things you can do b/c it promotes vocal accuracy! I definitely second that! =) Keep it up and keep me posted!
I have a question: I have heard a couple of your lesson while singing particularly songs. Those songs are recorded by women. Do you have any tutorials singing songs recorded by male artistes? Thanks!
In this case (it's not about having a stupid voice =)), but instead it's more about helping this person gain "tonal recall" which is the ability to repeat notes that are played/sung to them. This is a great first step in developing a more skilled voice.
Any advice on how to do this? Is the only option to get with a singing teacher? I've been practicing on my own for years to do a mixture of rap/hard rock/metal, and only recently started trying to learn proper technique. Can be a lil discouraging at times to know I'm a little off, but not be able to figure out why.
Either way, thank you for the video. And yes, you do look like Turk from Scrubs, but he's awesome anyway.
@onemotivatedmoment A teacher is always a good thing to provide insight and direction, but to be honest with you...as long as you are a diligent student...that does wonders in itself! Keep it up!
Ha! So I don't know if anyone else will find this helpful, but after all that I finally got with my sister (who knew she was so talented?) and a piano, and it took her all of 5 minutes to discover I was trying to sing way above my natural range. If you're like me and can't afford a teacher, these youtube lessons, a friend with a piano, and hours will make a world of difference!
would advice would you give to a 15 yr old who has a noticeable vocal break. I sing low notes in my speaking voice then when i go too high i break into high falsetto and it doesn't sound strong but i can sing very high ranges in it.
Hey there, the most effective technique I teach for this is my "Siren Drill". Check out my video entitled "Vocal Range". This should help! =) Thanks for watching!
sir im not sure if im right but.. werent you suppose to transfer from ur chest to your mix then to your head voice? cus you were using chest voice alone ..
actually the MILK THING IS True,! so thanks no more milk at lunch , BECAUSE OF THE FACT I DRINK MILK EVERYDAY BUT NOW WHEN I TRY TO SING OR NOT IT BE ALL THIS LIL' DRIPS OF MUCIS* IN MA Thoat
How much dairy is the maximum you could have? I don't have the most varied diet so it's hard not to eat dairy sometimes. I drink plenty of water though.

You have to be a very wonderful person to do all this for free ;D !!!

hey i have a question i always get hungry before a performance any ideas what i can eat (snack or meal) without it effecting my singing?
funko92 1 year ago
When you do this and if your throat starts hurting, stop doing this, because you're straining your throat and you're damaging your vocal chord. Make sure your throat is open when you do this kind of exercise. :)

fantastic starter tips, i'm a guitar player in a band, we've been struggling so much with singers, they can either sing ok, but dont learn the songs properly, like when to come in, or just plain cant sing i'm starting to consider doing it myself, was wondering if you had any tips for singing and playing at the same time, since vocal lines, and guitar parts rarely start together, i'm kinda finding it really difficult to do both together

I am having a hard time reaching my high notes when I'm singing, when I'm there it doesn't sound as smooth as my lower notes... I tried getting air from my diaphragm and sing from there but it seems like I never get enough air... Is it still possible to reach a high note smooth and clear for a person that had a nodule operation 2-3years ago? I don't know what to do..I am very eager to learn..But I lose hope sometimes.. Hope you can help me...

I am transsexual, do you have tips for me to make my voice sound more female?
PfirsichPrinzessin94 1 year ago 33
@PfirsichPrinzessin94 Hey there. Thanks for watching! From a physical perspective, one can make their voice sound more "feminine" by using their falsetto more than their natural voice. From a medical perspective, there are estrogen-based perscriptions that you can take that will lessen your testosterone which can possibly result in a higher vocal timbre. I would discuss the latter with a medical physician.

86cmoore 1 year ago
You shouldn't just breathe in a way that only results in your stomach moving in and out. You should use your diaphragm but allow your whole upper body to react to your breathing to maximise your lung efficiency, but remain relaxed at all times.

hii, quick question! do i just practice this or could i do something else like
go on the piano and hum/sing the notes c,d,e,f,g and backwards and continue on from there to f,g,a,Bb,c? and so on? because i find ur lessons alot harder and this other thing much easier. thanks and great lesson either way! (:
alixcho 1 year ago
@alixcho Using a piano in your practices is one of the BEST things you can do b/c it promotes vocal accuracy! I definitely second that! =) Keep it up and keep me posted!

@etanielyehuda Hey there! Oh yes. If you go down the list there are an equal amount of male artists, if not more. Let me know how it works out.

What if someone is completly deaf and has stupid voice?
Ilamarea 1 year ago
Hey there,
In this case (it's not about having a stupid voice =)), but instead it's more about helping this person gain "tonal recall" which is the ability to repeat notes that are played/sung to them. This is a great first step in developing a more skilled voice.

@lloyd614
And yes, you do look like Turk from Scrubs, but he's awesome anyway.
onemotivatedmoment 1 year ago
@onemotivatedmoment A teacher is always a good thing to provide insight and direction, but to be honest with you...as long as you are a diligent student...that does wonders in itself! Keep it up!

@lloyd614
Thanks man! Keep it up.
onemotivatedmoment 1 year ago
would advice would you give to a 15 yr old who has a noticeable vocal break. I sing low notes in my speaking voice then when i go too high i break into high falsetto and it doesn't sound strong but i can sing very high ranges in it.
LJ43094H 1 year ago
Hey there, the most effective technique I teach for this is my "Siren Drill". Check out my video entitled "Vocal Range". This should help! =) Thanks for watching!
