I wouldn't have said a Chevy Volt was as much as this one was, but I guess it's a 3 strikes level car. Of course if the game was That's Too Much or Stack the Deck, the car would not likely have been won :)
I've never been a TPIR purist, but I hope they don't become all about post-production graphics, because they break the fourth wall and end the escapism. They create a private producer-to-viewer experience so that you're not transported to being part of the audience in the studio anymore, instead you're reminded that you're there alone at home watching a TV show. Why would you want to go be in the studio if you would experience less of the show? It would have been cooler if the game flashed red.
@pdxist Those fancy graphics, believe it or not, are rendered in real-time during recording. They use the Chryron HyperX graphics system, which has produced live graphics for the Super Bowl.
Ironic, huh? "Triple Play" is still winless, still continues on a 10 game losing streak, and was lost on the episode from March 22, while this game has been won twice this season (the episodes from February 18 and today) and is at 2-1. I wonder what'll happen to "Golden Road" next time they play that game.
Sweet. Suck that WOF didn't give away the Volt during "Going Green" week. I glad it was won on TPIR. But I don't know why she pick 2 or 3 as the first number, when in 3 Strikes the car is always worth at least $40,000.
Actually, "given away" means the contestant actually won it. But since the Roadster wasn't won, it was not "given away". The *attempted* to give it away, or "offered" it.
@TVLubber Well, they TRIED to give away a $112,000 Tesla Roadster -- which was the most expensive prize ever offered in TPIR history -- this time last year in Golden Road (renamed Green Road for Earth Day), but didn't.
But the most expensive prize WON on TPIR was a $105,000 cabin cruiser (also in Golden Road) during a Million Dollar Spectacular in 2005.
@greenday61892 First time actually. It's good to see DiPirro trying new things, I think this works well.
@carexpertandy Most people don't shop for electric cars, so I wasn't surprised this happened. A LFAT who knows 3X is a big-car game may have done a bit better. After all, the Volt is brand-new, and it isn't a classic "wow this is a big car" like a Caddy, Corvette, or Lincoln.
@GSNSmashFan3 Same here... this was one major comeback! Was cheering for Lesa after she got the first three digits, as at that point it was known what the price of the Volt was known.
I was very amazed! I knew a Chevy Volt costs around $40k, but it seemed like nobody here had any clue since maybe they've read other stuff about this car, but never payed any attention to price lol
For some reason I miss Fat Drew.

These 5 numbers are the lucky ones, the other 3 Strikes win used the same numbers but different order.

That's the first 3 strikes comeback since Willie when he won that Cadillac back in 1995?

I think those were the same digits when Jalessa when her car but the price was $45, 283.

i'm glad she won, i wouldn't have known either that an electrical car costs that much

that $40,000 + price tag is also why I dont see Volts on the road.

Cool new "NO" graphic. Looks like DiPirro has really been having fun with 3D lately.
She was a great player. Props to her for never thinking the last number was 5.

@simpsonsfan89 They did that this past Monday, actually. Check it out on pir.com

How long have they been using that "NO" graphic? Because IIRC, the last 3 Strikes video you had they used the old-fashioned "NO" under the numbers.

@WayoshiM Yeah I like that graphic a lot too. I also really like the bonus graphics they've been using lately during the SS's.
