I believe there is still a lot of racial tension and resentment from the civil rights era, as well as that underlying feeling that whites look at and treat you different because you are a different race. All stereo types have a grain of truth in them and though hip-hop has spread to other races is started in predominantly black areas, with black rappers. Its only recently caught on and spread. Go to my school, its about 70% black and the "sagging jeans hip-hop culture" dominates. Like it or not hip-hop is the music of black youths today, there was always the minority of people who didn't follow hip-hop culture but today they don't even compare to the following that hiphop culture has.

actually the way i see it, if i can show that even some white people speak in a dialect that is hard to understand and sounds uneducated then i can show that both groups have the likelyhood of being both good or bad. the best way, as i see it, to make people feel like they are equal is to show their similiarties and when people see that they are equal then they start to realize that being racist is stupid.

There are plenty of whites out there who hate other races. I'm not one of them, but if I encountered an African American on the street who who has preconceptions about ALL whites, where does that leave me?
