@Peelick How exactly do you define mistakes? This appears to me as an improvisation/composition by Chris. This might very well be the way it appeared in his mind, so how can you talk about mistakes? Music is about playing from your heart not about measuring what went right or wrong. What can seem like a mistake from one perspective can be an artistic choice from another. Have a nice day:-)
Hey Chris....AWESOME playin, man!!!!! I'd love to play bass, or trumpet, along side you!!! Your soul and feel was so cool, man!!!! Excelent playing, my friend!! If you are ever in the Franklin, Pa. area, send me a private msg.,and we'll jam!!!
This is a beautiful piece of guitar work, my friend! 1:30 to 1:48 is my favorite part. very emotional, and a great couple of phrases as well! You can't really judge great tone on a youtube vid, but I'm sure it was excellent live! You are a great player, and yes it is the blues! It's your blues, and it was pretty emotional to me! excellent job! forget the naysayers and please don't stop playing your music!
good lord, why are people hating on this video? i sense so much soul in this, and doing some good ol fast licks help you get your emotion out, u just get this great rush over your body. thats feeling. this guy has a masterey of feeling. u guys haitn probably cant even play nearly as good as this dude
I would like to thank everyone who's defended my playing on this video. Thanks from the bottom of my heart for the support you've shown for me. I truly intend on stepping up the anti in 2012. Thanks again ...~C.P
I've noticed a trend with these idiots who say there is no soul in what artists like John Petrucci, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani and others do... they need an excuse to cut other down. are you saying that because people like David Gilmoure milk every note for everything it's worth they put MORE emotion and passion into their music? I think this piece is FULL of soul and emotion. I can't stop listening to it. made my 12 hour shift much easier man thanks for putting out some fantastic tone!
@dougjwhalen They are usually people who heard one or two things they didn't like from shredding artists and as a result, automatically condemn anyone who even loosely fits into that category. I can't imagine ANYONE who considers themselves a guitar music fan being anything but blown away after listening to The Infinite Steve Vai: An Anthology.
You CERTAINLY wouldn't be able to play the "no soul" card, and you'd realize what a moron you'd been for saying so previously.
@TheBanyanEmperor I do not speak Spanish. I'm giving this man props for being a wonderful guitar player and just expressing my annoyance for anyone who bashes artists for simply being wonderfully skilled at their instrument
...how can these people not see the passion and feel this man has? Much respect Chris. I guarantee that you have inspired many and will continue to do so.
I don't know what some of these basement dwellers (you're mom said bring up the dishes) are hearing but this dude can just flat out play the guitar. His videos made me decide on Splawn amps and everything I see him play is just awesome. I work hard at the guitar and think Peelick kills it, killer job man
I also think because maybe you don't look like what folks think someone who sounds like this should look, they are hating...Big guys can throw down too! I know because I do too!
Man, I don't know what these haters are talking about. Only folks who can do this understand that he is milking so much feel out of this. Good job Babyboy
Just cause he doesn't make weird faces while hes playing doesn't mean hes not feeling it lol I've seen millions of professional players play the blues and you can tell this dude loves playing and is feeling it.
Awesome job man :) i know that feeling you get when you do those bends its like a bolt of energy, i love it myself.
technically this is blues, but it has almost no feeling. it could be good, but not to people listening to you who just want to feel your pain. i just hear your mastery of scales and technique. its ok though.
@rickthrust Well U can't please everybody, i notice it's always folks with no video's of their skills that post these kinda comments. I won't be losing any nap time behind it...
@Peelick lol please dont. i guess it reads harsher than intended. and i am at least as critical of my playing as i am of yours. like i said, technically, it was real, real good. i just know that the blues is not about technical playing. it's gotta hit you, move you, groove you. i just wasn't feeling it. it reads as a dig but its intended as an honest reaction. some people find that useful. peace
@Peelick By that logic, music critics can't critique music, because they can't play music? I actually like this video, so I only commented to point out the fallacy in your logic. - [Someone who appreciates music]
@rickthrust You can't tell he has no feeling just by watching. Every note somebody plays shows his feeling whatever he's playing, and any way he's doing it. I personnaly found that tasty.
Dude...when you're good you'll have haters. I've been following your vids for years and you are exceptionally talented man. If you're in Georgia can you give a lesson to a fan?

While shredding is not dead--what's the purpose of blasting scales at a dazzling speed other than pure flash? Who other than those with twelve year old Jimmy Page fascinated real speed metal freaks who don't care about anything other than flash. you in today's landscape are going to have to have complete songs and arrangement with a melodic line and hooks to stay in business. A whole concert of flash and solos alone with no strong songs to execute will have people walking out...

Not many Jimmy Page fans into speed metal. You make no sense. WTF are you even babbling about? Dude is playing what he wants. No harm in that. I'm sure he has a day job and is not expecting to be the next Joe Satriani. Do you even play an instrument other than Skin Flute? Otherwise shut your ass.
Peelicker--I already saw you do a very mediocre performance a few years back in Chicago at one of the Bluesfests and as a friend of Stan with whom I've recently been in touch with I going to ask you nicely one time only to stop commenting or trying to contact me unless we are on a three way with Skibby...It's sad you are wasting your talent on eighties Van Halinism that twelve year olds have long mastered. Look in the mirror and reflect your true self instead of wishing you were white...Peace!
