tumba francesa is a cousin to bomba... there are similar and even identical melodies, rhythm names , etc but then again the same similarities are found in gwoka, bele, kaseko , the big drum of carricou among others. Bomba is on its own a unique genre like tumba and all the others mentioned. They all share a common root, but bomba did not come from tumba francesa.
