  • I cried at the last part :'(

  • hey its ellen page

  • "ignore her. she, she's a feminist" :D

  • that mom has problems

  • does anyone know what the name of the song thats played in the beginning called?

  • This made me cry. ;) Her mother just disgusts me. How can you do that to your children? That's just downright horrible.

  • that's so sad when yo child has to eat out of a trash can bcuz you want to spend all your money on drugs!!!!!!!smh

  • as i watch this movie tonight im laying down in bed on my portable computer i realize how lucky i am, i am my mons only child and she always puts my needs first my mom makes sure i have a roof over my head food on our table clean clothes and a place to come home to where i know ill be loved my mom and dad get on my case alot because of grades but noq i know why man i realize how lucky i am and im ginna start respecting my parents more

  • I just met Liz Murray, who this movie is based on.... She is one of the most inspirational and blessed people that i have had the pleasure of knowing. So incredible!

  • this is such an inspiring movie!

  • 1 Part and I want this movie on DVD can you get it in a vidoethek (?)? Sorry I am from Germany and great actors/tresses by the way. :D

  • the moms pretty why would she ruin her self with that garbage!!!

  • the beginning is scary!!!

  • read the book..it is amazing..i think that it fully describes liz better you get a better sense of who she really is..this movie makes the story a little more pg than it truly is...

  • im truly inspired by this movie, and yet..i am now at the best university in malaysia....:)

  • the social worker is yelling at the children because she is trying to scare them into cleaning up and everything so that they won't have to be taken to a home where they're life could be even more dangerous.

  • i remember seeing this on lifetime movies. it was so good i had to look up the liz girl on wikipedia

  • lmao the tags xD

the last part made me cry :3

  • Lol at the tags

  • this movie is sad

  • 6 People Have And Addiction With Kids

  • i watched that movie last year in health class (we were learning about drugs and AIDS etc..) but i thought it had a very powerfull message built into it ad i loved the movie so much!

  • did they just say he threw the cat out?......

  • @vabeach94 the window

  • does anyone know what the song is called that starts playing at the very begining??

  • this is my fav movie of all

  • what would you expect from western women?!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • my mother was like this. is STILL like this. i thank my lucky stars and realize how grateful i am everyday to be taken away from her. you can love your parents as much as you want, but only they can change themselves. i guess what i'm saying is be grateful for everything you have, because you never know when something terrible will happen

  • why doesn't the father get out of there and take the kids

  • I usto be a drug addict. I popped tylenal all the time because I had constant headaches :/

  • I hate cruel people. Smfdh.

  • The social worker is shouting at the children? Is she completely stupid? Since when are children responsible for they living conditions?

  • @Eufrozina85 The dad just is off in his own little world like dumde dumm dumm!

  • THE POOR GIRL REALLY WENT THROUGH ALOT BECAUSE OF HER OWN PARENTS SELFISH WAYS OF LIVING. I JUST LOVE HOW SHE STRIVED TO BE BETTER AND NOT ALLOWING HER POVERTY TO DEFINE HER FOREVER.

  • @libgurl01 not necessarily, she said herself in real life her parents never stopped loving her, I have seen first hand what drugs can do it is horrific, I have been homeless myself and desperate even, but Heroine and ice I never did, I saw desperate people come down from secure to desperate to beyond desperate and enslaved to addiction - it is scary, it is evil that dealers do this

  • LMFAO @ IGNORE HER SHE'S A FEMINIST!

    ahahhaahahahahahahahah

  • Valerie Solanas is the original homeless to College graduate.

  • selfish mom

  • I go to humanities prep and I hope she comes to speak to us sometime..

  • Gosh..I'm crying :"(

  • Love this. I came upon this movie by chance, so watching it again!!!

  • Drugs consume the very being that consumes them. it is tragic but what a remarkable young lady.

  • did u kno the social worker is the actually liz murrary so dont call her a bitch

  • @terroristmushroom Well I'm assuming that they mean the character and not the actress, and I agree about the character, she is a bitch...

  • Liz came and spoke to my school. Life changing, to say the least.

i understand all her actions now, as i am currently reading her book.

  • good movie, anyone know of a movie of a girl gets raped in high school and he never gets caught and runs to Italy ???

  • @sgmale90 are you sure you're not just thinking about your own life

  • Liz should've kept the money hidden. Her mother clearly could not be trusted because of her addiction.

  • He has book smarts but clearly no street smarts to end up in a situation like this!

  • The fact that parents can put their children through this is just horrible. If you have a addiction DON'T have children -.-

  • @chelsandiarebffs i have an alchaholic dad and a mum whos dying and im growing up to be a straight a student but i agree

  • @AABBCCDDEE199098 you should be really proud of yourself and I'm sorry for the situations you're going through.

  • @chelsandiarebffs If someone has an addiction that person often forgets to do something against getting pregnant, before, during or after sex. I once knew a very young girl with druggie parents that started doing it herself and then she was pregnant and didn't know when or how or with whom it happened. SHE thought she was still a virgin.

  • Oooh Ellen Page!

  • Sarah Briand is a good actress. It"s too bad that she never continued her acting career after this film was made.

  • This is so sad! Especially when it could be happening to anyone right now.

  • That social worker is the real Liz Murray.

  • sad when the ambulance took the mother out the apartments she called lizzy and no one else. thats so sad plus the music makes it even more sadder :[

  • This movie is so good. one of my favs. xD

  • my reading teacher showed this movie to my class last week and told us that Liz used to go to my school.Thx 4 uploading! its a really good movie

  • Only the first 9 minutes and I'm crying..

  • whats the name of the song at the beginning

btw: i've seen this movie more than 30times and i still love iit

  • @YouKnowMiii Just like you by Maren Ord

  • This movie ought to drive the young people of America to do better with their lives. And to not sit around and waste time....who wants to live like this?

  • 5:07, did liz just say "the niggers will break them again"?

  • @relimes No she said "the muggers will break them again."

  • that "all the time" bit was very effective to me and is the bit that made me want to waatch more and realise that this is a truly honest movie :)... very effective

  • the hell is with that social worker?

  • can u upload the whole movie somewhere so i can download..

  • it is so sad that this is actually happening around the world.

  • Harvard is nothing exceptional. No 4-year degree at any college or university is. I went to Carnegie-Mellon University, and it was a total waste of time and money. Only advanced degrees hold any specific purpose, and even then college is only useful if the job you want requires it. Better education at the public library for free.

  • this movie reminds smthng on my past..a girl wish 2 hav a happy fmily..i knw how was the feelng wen u knw it was wrong but juz wish to see they are happy..its worth it n u dun care..btw proud of u liz murray,..1 of the gud exmple 4 all people nwaday..God bless...

  • I was surprised to see the mom play in the L word as a woman wanting to be a man. She does really good acting on the L word.

  • wow her mom is selfish she needs to be sent to rehab. drugs does that to you

  • That social worker is a bitch...

  • @Mennismervice ik and its like its the kids fault their parents are so screwed up and they have to live in such filth

  • @Mennismervice it's how they make most of them seem. I can't help but feel sorry for them sometimes, they wrok maybe 50 cases a week... But that doesn't give them a reason to act like that.

  • @Mennismervice shes just being honest.

  • @Mennismervice I don't get why the social worker was saying "clean up, you'll work there if you don't work here". Isn't it her job to get those kids out of there? Why does she want them to stay? I know the foster care system is messed up but god

  • The real Liz Murray that the film is based on plays a social worker in the film. Try and find her.

  • She just didn't have anymore to give?! I've seen people with schizophrenia give it all and come out victorious... that's just an excuse...

  • this is an extremely poorly made movie with terrible acting and even worse dialogue. i literally have to stop watching it so that it wont turn me off of the book.

  • @jetbullit What!? Shut Up!!! this movie is good!

  • Peter: Always a big production!

  • Her hair drives me insane in this movie!

  • @dancersing03 thora's hair?

  • @dancersing03 yeah it's pretty messy and lank looking. I can only imagine that in real life, Liz's hair looked even worse when she was a kid not washing and having that awful lice infestation.

  • Ellen page!

  • i love this movie and Liz Murray actually came and spoke at my school once she is an amazing person.

  • damn tht bitch lady cop made it seem like it was tha kids fault

  • What the Heck the police are taking the mom and the dad is jjust sitting there like nothing is happening!

  • I kinda liked the father, he wasn't abusive or anything, he is damn smart he could have won jep.

  • Freaking stupid, giving her the damn money. She doesn't NEED it. She WANTS it.

  • This is really weird.

I'm watching 90210 right now while watching this video too. The actress for the mom is the same as an actress for a character in 90210.. ahaha

  • omg i watched this like 6years ago...i remember every part this movie is A+ thumbs up if you agree

  • thanks for the upload!

  • I think i would have made more sense for the real Liz Murray to narrate it.

  • @relimes I don't know if this youtuber uploaded it but the real Liz Murray had an extra scene at the end of the movie explaining how far she's gone and how this is a true story and everything.

  • @liliprincess717 The scene at the end isnt the real Liz Murray, its still Thora Birch concluding the story, the way the put it u'd think it would be the real Liz but it wasnt. Thora Birch looks NOTHING LIKE the real Liz Murray. The real Liz has brown hair, is taller and has brown eyes and even sounds different.

  • @relimes No it wasn't Thora Birch when I watched it on TV. They had an exclusive interview with her (and she did have dark brown hair) and she was just talking about the film and her life.

  • and couldnt her mother have at least have a clean supply of needles on hand so she wouldnt contract that aids virus?

  • Shit if the father was so smart and answered every damn question on jepordy then why the hell didnt he get on that show win the family some money and get them out of poverty?

  • @relimes HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA FURREALSZZZ,!

  • @relimes how often do you think they let a homeless guy come on the show?

  • @relimes Umm, because he is a strung out junkie and not pretty enough for afternoon T.V.?

  • @relimes lol its because people like that are incapable of seeing into the future. :)

  • @RussiangirlNY that is not true, It isnt that they are incapable of seeing into the future its that they were never given the chance. No one ever tought them how.

  • @relimes It cost money to get a ticket to be on the show. If you dont have money to begin with then thats not a option. though he is smart...;0

  • @relimes cuz if he did he waste it on drugs

  • @relimes he would have used it for drugs instead. . . .

  • @relimes Because he was a drug addict. That's why. Not to mention lazy.

  • Comment removed

  • @relimes thats what makes it so tragic

  • @relimes He was slow like his mind was smart but not right like kinda messed up.

  • @relimes ur a loser if u realized "HOLLYWOOD" makes things up he wasnt that smat, look up 4 facts.........

  • @relimes good question im thinking the same thing while im doing a report on him

  • @watcherguy7337 , Honestly think about it, do you think he'd have the social skills to actually get on it? And if he managed to get on and win money it would go straight to their addictions anyways

  • @relimes People with high IQ are usually very humble and often dont show-pff what they can, or even dont believe in it. Its actually typical :(

  • @relimes money doesn't change bad habits,He still would've spent it to feed the addictions.

  • @relimes when u have a drug problem like that you dont think of anything but the drugs!!! trust me i saw first hand what drugs can do to a family
