  • can you re-upload all the files cause megaupload's gone ):

  • FYI...after several attempts to SBF my screen and phone was locked. After several SBF attempts to Froyo, I remembered something in one of the forums.

How to boot into stock recovery

Hold power button and and home hard key. When M screen appears, release home key. A screen with a small green Droid and an ! will appear. Push search hard key. Use volume rocker to select wipe data/cache then factory reset.

All is well in Droid land. Now that I'm in Froyo do I root before loading part 1 & 2?

  • hey great video, but when i did it i still somehow messed it up. after d/l rsd lite and the drivers n connecting to my phone for bootloader mode, when i click on rsd lite it doesn't recognize anything. all the fields are blank. what did i do wrong n what should i do?

  • everything is working right but the rsdlite does not find the sbf file or any other file when i click a file folder all the files are empty how do i fix that

  • Comment removed

  • I'll be making a video on how to get version .602 on your phone and how to root it tonight.

  • @Adrianl623 i see my phone in rsd lite and then i select the sbf file but i do not see anything in the "file properties" box

  • Hey thanks for tutorial it worked after i cleared the data & cache to stop it from boot loop freezing. Only thing that changed is when i re-programmed to verizon and added my email address the email notification icon in the status bar is now grey instead of red like it use to be. Is there a way to change it back to red or is it stuck? - Thanks

  • Also viewing your video again Phone info did not appear in the left. Why. Not right drivers. There were drivers that came with the sd lite. Wrong ones?

  • Not understanding why. Installed rsd lite no problem. Installed moto drivers, no problem. Set phone to pc mode connto pc, recognition. Clicked sbf file and then start. Phone went to bootload. Then ...... flash failed! Any thoughts?

  • @tpaege1

i am getting the same problem what did you you do to fix it

  • I keep getting this error when trying to SBF "Chipset type 43 not supported"

  • Do make sure you have at least 80% battery, I tried flashing my brother's with a 15% battery and his phone went corrupt. I had to use my dad's battery and re-flash to fix it.

  • Thanks for the tutorial. I did an SBF back to Froyo so I could root and flash Cyanogenmod 7 for my DX. After using RSD to flash Froyo, it got stuck in a bootloop.

I pulled the battery and went into recover mode. I only chose the factory reset/wipe data option. I did not clear/format the cache (the 4th option).

I rebooted and was back to froyo and flashed cyanogen after rooting. Does it matter if I did not clear/format the cache? Since I did not clear cache, is it taking up space now?

  • @dart1214 I believe you should be OK. Not 100% though because I've always cleared cache so I'm not 100% sure

  • My Droid x never showed up in any of the ports on rsd lite. what should i do?

  • @mattmcs2 use another USB port on your computer. Try another computer if you have one

  • Do you lose all of your data and apps if I change my droid x from Gingerbread 2.3.3 to Froyo? Thanks

  • @mattmcs2 Yes you will lose apps and data

  • @Adrianl623 Is there anyway that I dont have to lose it all? Thanks

  • When I open rsd lite, my phone isn't showing up.

  • I downloaded the SBF files, RSDLite and followed your instructions. The process was easy, but now in the RSDLite status said: Failed flashing process. Phone[0000]: Phone did not re-enumd\erate after RAM downloader was sent. Device API error 0xE00300009.

Not sure what to do next. Can you advise me? Thnks..

  • @makana1023 Re-download the SBF file and try again sometimes it doesn't download fully and it causes an error

  • Worked for me, thanks alot!

  • The links do not work on the megaupload site. I keep getting a message that windows can't recognize the file that created the link.

  • @elishabey I'm at work now I'll reup when I come back at home. Check back later tonight.

  • Oops...continuing...

It did get stuck in bootloop, but I followed your instructions and this time was allowed to get to the wipe/format window...rebooted perfectly..

    Installed z4..rooted, barnacle tethered.

Now im gonna go GB preroot...and Apex!

    Word.

    Thanks man your awesome!

  • @SirMillz Glad everything worked out. Just knowing how to SBF gives you a piece of mind knowing you pretty much always can restore your phone no matter how bad you mess it up for the most part.

  • I followed your instructions to the letter..everything was a complete success!

Im back to froyo and rooted again...what a relief that it works and I did it all by my self, with your instruction of course, and it didn't take very much time to do really.

Not sure, but I did try to wipe the cache and data first just to test my abilities but for some it went to the droid prompt with triangle and never let me go to the next window. So I pressed forward and did the flash. After flashing it did get

  • Is Apex like Liberty? Can you run them together? Which is better?

  • What's Apex? An Os? Does that run on GB?

  • Also...if I was to buy a new DX and it came with GB 2.3.3, would is still be able to sbf to Froyo?

  • @SirMillz yes

  • @SirMillz it's like a software you can install on your phone that removes all that garbage that verison and motorola put on your phone that you don't really need to speed up your phone

  • Thanks again for the fast response! Last question; in your opinion, do you think its worth it to take my DX to GBrooted? Are you impressed enough with 2.3.3?

  • @SirMillz I have a rom called Apex on my phone and its def a very quick and fast phone. I personally like it alot.

  • Ok thanks..next question...I aim to run GB rooted on my X...buy installed the update w/root killer.

So should I follow your steps to sbf back to froyo 2.2 then root, then follow your other video to install GB 2.3.3 rooted?

  • @SirMillz Yes. Just SBF back to Froyo, there is may videos that you can watch on how to do that, then once your on froyo you can start with my video to root and upgrade to rooted GB.

  • I updated to GB 2.3.3 on my DROID x the other day and lost root...like everyone. My question is, if I sbf back to froyo stock settings I should be able to root again?

  • @SirMillz Yes you can.

  • your freaking awesome! excellent work. helped me fix my phone!

  • Adrian, Thanks for the great how to videos. I used your leaked rooted 4.5.596 lesson successfully but lost tether yesterday as I think everyone did even with Barnacle. Do you know if I go back to Froyo as show here will tether work again using Z4?

  • @johnnieyaz I think even if you go back to Froyo it won't work.
