4:55 to 7:11 are some of the best things I ever heard a Rapper/Dillahead say in my whole life - Especially how he had to adapt to how the drum pattern constant changed, kept rewinding, and dedicated a week to it.. =)
As soon as he heard the name "Dilla", Bussa Buss dropped his phone, stopped everything, and gave his full attention. He could've answered questions with his phone in his hand, but he knows: when Dilla is mentioned, you are talking about the God of hip hop.
wht i don't understand is how people who never knew him, never worked with him say he wasn't that great while people like Busta Rhymes, Erykah Badu, Common, ?uestlove, Q-tip and so many others say he was arguably on of the best producers they ever worked with...i know who i vote for....i love the man's music and they just confirm wghy i love him....let all the haters say whay they wanna say....his music is will still be great
long live J Dilla! i'm working on a project consisting of all Dilla beats (released or un-released) & if anyone can get in touch with the Yancey Estate please inbox me. i want them to see how Dilla's work inspired me. i already uploaded a few on my channel anything with a picture of Dilla feel free to check it out & give your input i want to make sure i'm doing his work justice. peace & blessings!
@mauiportal25 thank you man. I have respect for him but he has the same effect that "tupac and bigge" have they were great but they died at an early age so ppl OVER praise them. He's a great producer but if he was alive everybody wouldn't be riding him. He would just be a great producer. but everybody on YOUTUBE kissin his ass
@soulsampling You're right about pac and biggie but dead wrong about Dilla. Dilla literally created a SOUND, arguably THE sound of the entire genre of hip-hop. But while he created that Sound, no one could imitate or match him. There's no one even close to him in hip-hop- arguably Timbaland, maybe Neptunes, not Premier, not Jus Blaze....Dilla was on a completely different level. But don't listen to me. Busta Rhymes just said the same thing. You can't OVER PRAISE genius.
100% real talk. I never realized how intricate "Still Shinin'" was until he explained it and then I thought about that beat...it DOES change up the entire time. I thought Pete Rock was the first to do that with "The Game" from Soul Survivor but Dilla beat him to it. Imagine a beat battle up in heaven between Dilla and Paul C., who some would say was the Dilla of the late '80's on the low. My favorite producer is still Premier to this day but Dilla was/is undeniable. RIP.
dilla was the greastest!!!! he from my city and i wish i woulda got the chance 2 meet him!!! when legends is talkin bout u....thats when u sayin somethin!!

go fuck urself lucky ignorant bitch i would pay anything to be in a radio studio with busta talkin bout dilla
i love busta's early works, and as he sits there talking bout Dilla makes me think.
If you respect the dude so much and respect the hiphop from "the golden years" so fukkin much
why do you jump on the bandwagon with the rest of these clown MC's talking bout bullshit?...busta can do way WAY better then what he's dropping right now
Go back to those days Busta!! bring hiphop back!!!
R.I.P. J Dilla and R.I.P. a little of Busta's originality
wow, I thought Dilla jus went back after Busta laid his verse down and re-programmed the drums....thats crazy. Shout out to Bus, shout out to my fellow D-Towner J Dilla(RIP)
Anyone that has heard the "Still Shinning" track know exactly what busta is talking about. Till this day one of the sickest beats I've ever heard. And i love how busta growls on the hook lol.
Word!!! I bought the album and still haven't listened to it! It was clearly a rushed effort because the original "Blessed" album got leaked to the internet. "Back on My BS" definitely disappointed me.
yea. I kept seeing jay dee name whenever a bought a cd. Nagchampa did put it over the top as a big fan of common & j dilla. turn me up song is the best busta/ dilla song. dilla lives on
It's interesting that Still Shining stands out to him. All my musician friends and myself alike who grew up on dilla (highschool years) say that beat was one of his illest. That drum pattern! He had to free hand that joint straight through. When I first heard it I was shaking my head like who does that! He did that beat like he was sitting at a school desk with a pencil using the metal rim for the high hat. Had no clue i would sweat that dude for the next 15 years ('95-'10)
I notice all of the free thinking emcees and "real" artists end up getting their number pulled. Dilla is a legend forever in the industry. R.I.P. Dilla I'm sparking one now for you big dawg.
Mad love Busta Bust!!! Dilla my manz since '78 I wish I still had the tape he gave me when we were about 8-9 yrs old, str8 wicked. This cat did a mix with an old nursery rhyme 45 lp he had with some Run DMC songs and it was so DOPE!!! I was just in awe like... you too fresh for your own self. 1 love Conant Gardens James D. 4 life
still shining...man i so thinking that son g before he said it...I love that song 4real.......Qtip knew real soul....J Dilla was really ahead of his time...well said Bust!

sorry i meant 2 give thumbs up! cuz i most certainly agree with u i feel Busta sold out 4 his last lp tryna come out as some psuedo gangster dude...HE WAS WINNING WITH THE HYPE SHIT!! the REcords he was yellin' all over & things in my opinion HIS BEST JOINTS!!!! But now, can't find myself listening 2 that guy @ all!
That's what I'm sayin man. People slept on that joint on the Dillagence Mixtape. Man I looked for the song on youtube. The song only had like 200 views.
after listening to still shinnin again...that track has hella changes in the beat pattern....i really cant see no other mc rippin that track apart like busta...i like to see someone try but it would do dilla's beat no justice......busta that was well said how you describe the efforts put behind that song.....thats why this track is in rotation to this day...10 plus years and still bangs....thank u J DILLA
If that's not the truth, then I don't know WHAT is! A lot of rappers/ MCs should really take note to what Busta is saying & the "One of One" part should definitely hit home b/c even when an artist is given the "average beat", the song should still challenge them and bring the best out in them - not become another MC's remake. I hope to see some new artists "get blessed" by a Dilla beat because his talent is king, his legend shoud forever be recognized and taken seriously! R.I.P. Dilla
