  • busta said still shinin and i looked to the rught and the song was there then i clicked it

  • this is so good

  • 4:55 to 7:11 are some of the best things I ever heard a Rapper/Dillahead say in my whole life - Especially how he had to adapt to how the drum pattern constant changed, kept rewinding, and dedicated a week to it.. =)

  • Yo what about PETE ROCK, if anything Dilla looked at his style

  • J DILLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

  • As soon as he heard the name "Dilla", Bussa Buss dropped his phone, stopped everything, and gave his full attention. He could've answered questions with his phone in his hand, but he knows: when Dilla is mentioned, you are talking about the God of hip hop.

  • wht i don't understand is how people who never knew him, never worked with him say he wasn't that great while people like Busta Rhymes, Erykah Badu, Common, ?uestlove, Q-tip and so many others say he was arguably on of the best producers they ever worked with...i know who i vote for....i love the man's music and they just confirm wghy i love him....let all the haters say whay they wanna say....his music is will still be great

  • Dilla most overrated producer ever

  • Comment removed

  • @mauiportal25 j dilla is the king. his beats were sometimes simple, but i have yet to hear a producer that has matched his sound.

  • @mauiportal25 failed to troll bitch

  • @mauiportal25 thank you man. I have respect for him but he has the same effect that "tupac and bigge" have they were great but they died at an early age so ppl OVER praise them. He's a great producer but if he was alive everybody wouldn't be riding him. He would just be a great producer. but everybody on YOUTUBE kissin his ass

  • @soulsampling when donuts came out people had already been calling him the best. he is the best. u got nothin. go fuck yourself.

  • @nikezooms go fuck myself? hahahaha stop with the youtube shit talking. Lame

  • @soulsampling You're right about pac and biggie but dead wrong about Dilla. Dilla literally created a SOUND, arguably THE sound of the entire genre of hip-hop. But while he created that Sound, no one could imitate or match him. There's no one even close to him in hip-hop- arguably Timbaland, maybe Neptunes, not Premier, not Jus Blaze....Dilla was on a completely different level. But don't listen to me. Busta Rhymes just said the same thing. You can't OVER PRAISE genius.

  • @cavaleer ok

  • @mauiportal25 you got no groove motherfucker

  • @mauiportal25 mauiportal25 most overrated human being ever

  • @mauiportal25 coz u dont understand it

  • Dilla best ever

  • Original! Respected! That's where we need to stay! Be an artist! not a plagiarist. "Hands Down"

  • 100% real talk. I never realized how intricate "Still Shinin'" was until he explained it and then I thought about that beat...it DOES change up the entire time. I thought Pete Rock was the first to do that with "The Game" from Soul Survivor but Dilla beat him to it. Imagine a beat battle up in heaven between Dilla and Paul C., who some would say was the Dilla of the late '80's on the low. My favorite producer is still Premier to this day but Dilla was/is undeniable. RIP.

  • dilla was the greastest!!!! he from my city and i wish i woulda got the chance 2 meet the him!!! when legends is talkin bout u....thats when u sayin somethin!!

  • Busta cant say that about wanyes beats, on the real

  • the slut in the back looks like the bitch we see in the club...stupid and ignorant ! how black peeps can be respected if the youth don't give a fuck 'bout hip hop history ..bus talks 'bout dilla n' once again the influence Qtip got on his career ...;))

  • Busta Rhymes- Still Shining...... Look that up youngsters. CLASSIC!!!

  • @FRESHCOOLAIDE Word up!! I got that cd in my truck rite now. "I see my influence still shinin'"

  • My bad android mess

  • J.dilla was so vurss

  • J-Dilla was a blue collar producer. He loved to grind for the people!

  • God knows I love this man! J-Dilla we love you!

  • "Every four beats.......... of the beat" damn dilla is amazing

  • i love this vid i just really hate that bored black chick in the back...fuck a true genius like busta is talkin bout the GOAT and all u can do is making that fuckin bored face?

go fuck urself lucky ignorant bitch i would pay anything to be in a radio studio with busta talkin bout dilla

  • @fabiopercy is that necessary man?

  • @IamNiiTeiko

    Totally

  • why busta sound like such a dumbass when he talk about music production and dilla etc?

  • Fantastic interview, especially the last couple of minutes talking about "Still Shining".

  • look at that fucking watch

  • @SensenFukokuProjects

    Yeah man.

Listening to Can't Hold a Torch, and then hearing Arab Money or any of those other tracks...makes me question his beliefs

  • @SensenFukokuProjects It's business. Simple as that. That green monster has killed so much of our music and will continue to do so.

  • @TrakwUrKz you cant tell them to go back otherwise it would bore the listeners.

  • @SensenFukokuProjects Same thing i was saying recently. All these silly remixes he doing with certain 'DJ's and 'MC's

  • @SensenFukokuProjects Ehhh Busta is fine now, he goes on wack Mc's tracks but he still does his own thing. I can't disrespect busta

  • any friend of J. Dilla is a friend of mine!!!

  • Don't sleep on Nottz & Mr Porter

  • I like how he put twitter down when talking about Dilla.

  • It seems all great producers are reclusive:

J Dilla, Nujabes, Madlib, Aesop Rock, El-P, DOOM, Daedelus. There must be something to staying to yourself.

  • @ArbyWanKenobi yes, there is. you can't allow outside interferences and potential haters/biters see your moves, bro! =)

  • still shining craziest busta rhymes songs EVER

Dilla put the drums just of beat and its still ill

    crazy SON!

  • Still Shining is and probably always will be the sickest track from Busta

  • Comment removed

  • notice how when he says "It aint like now" his watch shines..

  • wow, I thought Dilla jus went back after Busta laid his verse down and re-programmed the drums....thats crazy. Shout out to Bus, shout out to my fellow D-Towner J Dilla(RIP)

  • Anyone that has heard the "Still Shinning" track know exactly what busta is talking about. Till this day one of the sickest beats I've ever heard. And i love how busta growls on the hook lol.

  • busta's really intelligent.

  • Am i the only one that found it funny when he mentioned j-live? homie said j live as in live life too the fullest.

  • @lbmetalfacedooom I think he mentioned jay-lib, or jay dee and madlib

  • 1 of 1

  • I was a Fan since 94' 95' ..when i heard that beat on "Front Street" by Phat Kat, that Jaydee did I was sold, Props to up there Homie ...One Luv

  • Yo Busta is sooo right, everyone was original and had their own style back then.

  • this is a ILL ass interview....

i wish catz would be as clear an outspoken as busta.....

much respect to my mans dilla an busta two catz i consider my teachers for my ears

  • Talk about ART!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Keep it low music.

  • "It was like a Puzzle!"haha

  • Word!!! I bought the album and still haven't listened to it! It was clearly a rushed effort because the original "Blessed" album got leaked to the internet. "Back on My BS" definitely disappointed me.

  • yea. I kept seeing jay dee name whenever a bought a cd. Nagchampa did put it over the top as a big fan of common & j dilla. turn me up song is the best busta/ dilla song. dilla lives on

  • Nag Champa has to be my fav song cos not only did he produce the song but he was singing on it. I used to listen to it when I was 10-11

  • 2:24 to 2:28 is nice

    5/5

  • It's interesting that Still Shining stands out to him. All my musician friends and myself alike who grew up on dilla (highschool years) say that beat was one of his illest. That drum pattern! He had to free hand that joint straight through. When I first heard it I was shaking my head like who does that! He did that beat like he was sitting at a school desk with a pencil using the metal rim for the high hat. Had no clue i would sweat that dude for the next 15 years ('95-'10)

  • I notice all of the free thinking emcees and "real" artists end up getting their number pulled. Dilla is a legend forever in the industry. R.I.P. Dilla I'm sparking one now for you big dawg.

  • all the greats die young rip jdilla hiphop loves you

  • Mad love Busta Bust!!! Dilla my manz since '78 I wish I still had the tape he gave me when we were about 8-9 yrs old, str8 wicked. This cat did a mix with an old nursery rhyme 45 lp he had with some Run DMC songs and it was so DOPE!!! I was just in awe like... you too fresh for your own self. 1 love Conant Gardens James D. 4 life

  • well no wonder once he got a hold of a drum machine he was already good lol

  • still shining...man i so thinking that son g before he said it...I love that song 4real.......Qtip knew real soul....J Dilla was really ahead of his time...well said Bust!

  • R.I.P. J Dilla

  • I love truth and he embodies that jdilla ! I miss that brother!

  • who produced the bonus track on the japanese version of ELE?

  • so amazing what he says at approximately 5.30 , like it shows how much works Busta puts on his tracks it's really thoroughly designed piece after piece ..Busta songs are really a work of art .

and i really appreciate his art :)

  • "I wouldn't complete an album without Dilla"....idiot, his latest lp aint got no productions!

  • now that dilla is dead i guess it's more complicated ... why do you think Dillagence was free on the internet ?

  • and that also mean he would'nt complete an album without dilla , as long as dilla was alive maybe ..

  • maybe he meant before he was dead?

  • Well i aint gonna read between lines that aint there....on the big bang lp there was at least 1 dilla joint tho...

  • sorry i meant 2 give thumbs up! cuz i most certainly agree with u i feel Busta sold out 4 his last lp tryna come out as some psuedo gangster dude...HE WAS WINNING WITH THE HYPE SHIT!! the REcords he was yellin' all over & things in my opinion HIS BEST JOINTS!!!! But now, can't find myself listening 2 that guy @ all!

  • "mf doom and dem cats too."

    "yeah no question."

  • busta should write a book, every interview I've seen is incredibly inciteful.

  • every1 including busta always forget that dilla wasnt on extinction level event

  • truth! I still bump that joint till this day!

  • wow , thats a great quote, coltrane is ill, check out my music-LB3

  • Busta is down keeps it real

  • good vid. too bad bust looks like a cyborg lol

  • lol that is a great comparison!

  • So Hardcore is my fave with those two. The joints from the Coming were great but that Hardcore was the best look with them.

  • u can't hold a torch,the best tune!!!!

  • "i gotta talk to you about your relationship with dilla"

    "absolutely"

    "wow"

    .....silence......

  • PATTERN!!!!!lol nah dilla was a legend man

  • sickest busta rhymes dilla production is "still shining" hands down my fave

  • Oooh....hmmmm...what about "Other Side Of The Road" tho???

    THAT SHIT IS DARK TOO!!

  • That's what I'm sayin man. People slept on that joint on the Dillagence Mixtape. Man I looked for the song on youtube. The song only had like 200 views.

  • wut about "You Can't Hold The Torch"

  • yeah that song is hot too...thats one of the best beats too

  • damn theres no dilla beat on his latest album wonder why..

  • everybody hoggin dilla beats. so they told bust "fuck off you allready had yours" theres a limit. just an assumption.

  • after listening to still shinnin again...that track has hella changes in the beat pattern....i really cant see no other mc rippin that track apart like busta...i like to see someone try but it would do dilla's beat no justice......busta that was well said how you describe the efforts put behind that song.....thats why this track is in rotation to this day...10 plus years and still bangs....thank u J DILLA

  • The D misses dilla and big proof! r.i.p

  • I give props to busta for being one of the first people in music to work with Dilla.

  • Sickest Dilla/Busta combo has got to be Turn Me Up Some!!!!

  • there will NEVER be another DILLA,& there will NEVER be another BUSTA RHYMES.......

  • If that's not the truth, then I don't know WHAT is! A lot of rappers/ MCs should really take note to what Busta is saying & the "One of One" part should definitely hit home b/c even when an artist is given the "average beat", the song should still challenge them and bring the best out in them - not become another MC's remake. I hope to see some new artists "get blessed" by a Dilla beat because his talent is king, his legend shoud forever be recognized and taken seriously! R.I.P. Dilla

  • F-ing J DILLA.... Hope he is stil bangin em out in the big studio in the sky!

  • @mike3086 word he need to drop some beats from the sky ASAP!

  • YESir!

  • dilla best producer ever!keep the torch high busta

  • Yeah..Still Shining...

  • Well said Busta, ahead of his time, still today!

  • Refusal to be Hollywood is what made Dilla....the man AND the music. Stand up!!

  • R.I.P. J Dilla. We miss you! I think every year we should have a Hip Hop International J Dilla Day!

He was the best to do it.

Thank you for uploading this! Much love and respect to ezstreetshow. This is the first in depth interview I have seen on Busta talking about Dilla.

  • Dilla Day? February is Dilla Month. Born in February and passed in February. You'd be surprised how many people recognize this. Personally, like Peanut Butter Wolf said, everyday is a Dilla Day to me.

Dope interview by the way ezstreetshow, one of the best I've seen.

  • man this is a deep video thanks for putting this up rest in peace to j dilla

  • man... i'm hurting... i feel so fuckin disrespectful... i live in a small ass town trapped around mesas... n the only way i can get underground ish is to either drive 200 miles or bootleg... hurtin for cash i've bootlegged alot of jay dee's ish =( negaproppin myself!! haha

  • still shinin is still my favorite busta track of all time

  • OH HELL NO.......I WILL NEVER EVER DOWNLOAD DILLA!....anyone who tries cake off him illegally will be cursed, GOD gave him a special talent thats....if you disrepect his music....you disrepecting the man upstairs!

  • Actually a lot of dilla success in the industry and the world comes from the illegal trading and dubbing of tapes, dilla and madlib did it themselves!

Besides, its a known fact the the record label that gets the money from his records is NOT supporting his mother or his estate, and is holding his work hostage only from artists that he was scheduled to do.

Don't use the man's death as an excuse to overlook the limitations of record labels and copyrights.

  • im hearing that busta calls dilla's moms all the time to check on her.. i totally respect this dude for that.. please don't ever download illegally from this man..you'd be disrespecting a very respectable person

  • Actually a lot of dilla success in the industry and the world comes from the illegal trading and dubbing of tapes, dilla and madlib did it themselves! Personally, I never would have found out about most of his work if it weren't for the internet.

Besides, its a known fact the the record label that gets the money from his records is NOT supporting his mother or his estate, and is holding his work hostage only from artists that he was scheduled to do.

    Money doesn't equal respect.

  • mad nice

  • great stuff man!

  • RIP to one of the best ever

  • i always wondered how tf still shining was done. beat first or rhymes first

  • Beautiful. This is so necessary.

  • wow.

  • what busta just said is what makes dilla one of the best, his a genius.

to me, words really can't fully describe dilla as a producer

    nice interview btw

  • This is ill! thanks for posting this.

  • Great interview!

  • He made so many beats, for Tribe, Busta, de la soul, and so many people. he was the shiznit.
