True Fact of Meh=One time I went to the USS Hornet and we heard screams,I cired, other people screamed, and my dad yelled,"WHAT DA FUCK WAS THAT SHIT!?"
I had an experience down between the second deck and the first deck, on a stair case. I was walking up the stairs and the door above me suddenly closed, slammed hard. I grabbed my sons hand and ran up the stairs, trying to chase down whoever closed it. Nobody was around, and I walked for about 10 minutes to catch up to the group.
Ive Been to the U.S.S. Hornet Before ,With 8 Other's Ive Seen Ghosts Pass by Shaped like a Marine . Ive Heard Howitzer Firing Sounds everywhere but it actually didnt seem like it actually Shot . . Then I Heard Soilders Saying " We got 5 Zero's Up Ahead " I was Scared Shitless . . .But The Only Time I Laughed is when a Spirit SAYED " Fuck you Stupid Japs ! "
@evoldevildogs the fist carrier that had the name hoernet was sunk one year after it had carried the plains that hit tokio the nuc bombs came 2 years later this one was under constrution at the time the ather hornet was sunk this ship was named after the first hornet
i went to the hornet i went to the bathroom at 1 in the mornning and i had to bad so i just went with out any1 and out of no were i was pushed down and a door slammed shut so i ran back to the i came from and the doors right above it slammed shut ''so i went in and i yelled holy god damn shit what the fuck is going on.'' and every1 said im over reacting cuz i heard all the ghost storys and all this happend in 08 when i was 10 and i used to get scared really ez but i still want to go back.
i spent 2 nights on that ship with my boy scout troop im 12 years old i went there when i was 11 that room with chains they tell ghost storys there and i slept on one of those beds and i was thrown off couldent leave cuz the nnight shift guards and i was tripping the hell out cuz of that but i want to go back the uss hornet

i cant beleive that the first carrrier that lifted off a b-27 bomber to attack tokyo because of the revenge on attack on pearl harbor has became a ghost ship in california...
i've been there a couple times, every time i've been there i would walk past the medical room i would get this really eerie feeling like someone was watching me
None of these ghosts are malevolent. They are just those who supported our Nation in the time of need. They are glad that we kept this ship intact as we are glad that they gave their lives fighting in WW2. They are totally friendly
Ya I stayed overnight there, maybe two nights, and didn't see anything weird. I give it creepiness but idk about haunted. Sleeping there was creepy but everything you would expect in an aircraft carrier. Maybe it was because I was there on a church trip?
I went hear on an overnight in May...O.O unforgettable! I went into the sickbay and immediatly got chills. Also i got a picture with me standing next to a alledgedly haunted helicopter and there was an "orb" on one of the steps. Then when we went to go to sleep we heard A LOT of footsteps! I even caught an apparition on my cell camera! I SUPER HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS!
I think that the US government keep it because it can be deployedas last resource for possible war. Now, it is nuseum. However, if war break out, it will deployed for stand by position.
By the way, it is a good research place for military university.
I just took the tour of it yesterday and I didnt see a thing and I was the only person on the ship besides about ten workers and like 3 other guests. Saw nothing weird but did hear some weird shit when I went off by myself to explore the self guided areas. Cool place though, but I assure you the people who work on it are not crazy nor dead, most of them are veterans who served on the ship at some point.
the manikins move. I went there about 2 weeks ago. And I passed them about 5 times and every single time i passed at least one thing was different about them. And if you go to that room it sound like breathing. Not even joking.
In 1994 I was one of about 10 sailors who landed on her deck in a helo to pull her out of mothballs in SF where she had been since decom in 1970. A few of us went below decks and explored all through the ship with nothing but pen lights and zippos! What a thrill. Dust and old stuff everywhere. We pulled her out of mothballs that day and moved her to her current home in Alameda before she was turned into a museum. She's also in the movie Dirty Harry when she was moored in SF in 1971. BOOooOOH!!
When you say the Hornet was in a Dirty Harry movie, do you mean Magnum Force with the rouge cops? If so, neither of those caries was the Hornet. They were both "baby" carriers, CVE's. A lot smaller than the essex class Hornet! maybe you're talking about the interior scenes? In that case, you may be right.
Haunted, my a**. With 11 years on the ship, everywhere, with no one around, the ship is fun to explore. Now if you want scary then maybe I should take you to one of the oilers or sub tenders in the Suisun Reserve Fleet. No power, just flashlights and take you down to the bottom decks and then turn the light out. Pitch black and would that be scary? I guarantee you would never find the top deck without help.
Its not abandon, they have a huge museum in side of it, and an overnight program for boy scouts and cub scouts. Oh and the foot steps at :47 were only made by Neil Armstrong, not the "astronauts"
I try to open the door but it was kinda stuck. I swear I kept seeing navy crewmen standing there next to me when I was running out the door. I was probly seeing things by then but I ran in the room were everyone was sleeping and I was yelling, "HOLY JESUS CHRIST! I GOT FREAKING LOCKED IN THE FREAKING BATHROOM!" But all my friends that I was a complete RETARD! I probobly thought I got stuck. But how did the door slam

I was on the USS Hornet CVS12. 1966 to Dec1968 Talked to a shipmate tonight He visited the ship a few years back went to old V1 Bunk Compartment.
He told me he heard something there but there was no one anywhere.
I do not recall anything out of the norm when I was on board. We went through a thyphoon out of hong kong I flew off three days latter.
I did hear about the uss Evans cut in half in 1967 on operation SeaDog but read on line it was June of 1969. my friend RECALLED 1967 ....???

It doesn't always have to be war for this ship to be haunted. The ship is haunted also because some of them probably died an accidental death.
