i know the films are no comparison to the books but im watching this now after already having watched the bbc adaption of david copperfield, and i am so amazed and i will read the books now.. great stories
Frugality is cultivated i think, and as Pip was not brought up to know the worth of money, though he may have often felt the lack of it, and he had so yearned after the life of a gentleman, he found himself in a predicament that he did not know how to handle. There are many that know more than he about saving, and who work hard besides, who fall under similar predicament if not worse. This is not to justify him by any means to be sure.
I think few are the people today who would give a person the means of making their fortune with out having it ever to be know. We love acknowledgment so. This at least is very applaudable in Pip I think.
for people replying meaanly about my comment i did read the book. IM ONLY IN 7TH GRADE DUDES DONT EXPECT ME TO UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING. thank you for (hopefully) understanding. please do not cuss on the internet . if u do everyone will agree you are a idiot
2000 years ago Rabbi Akiva used to say:"All is given against a pledge, and the net is cast over all living, the shop stands open and the shopkeeper (G-D)gives credit & the account book lies open&the hand writes.Everyone who wishes to borrow let come&borrow but the collectors go their daily rounds&exact payment from man with or without his consent;for the collectors have on which to rely&the judgement is a judgement of truth&all is made ready for the feast.
@jamierourketen He lived 100 years later, both were Jewish & both killed by the Romans publicly for their faith.Rabbi Akiva had his skin scraped off to the bone by an iron comb for his following of Judaism. He taught : "What is hated by you do not do do to your other {person &/or G-D}"

The worse people to become rich and come good are those who originaly come from poor beginnings. That has always been the case.

Because the money has been given to him, he hasn't earned a penny of it- which is why he isn't working towards achieving anything.

"And if he wasn't born to know it, [to Pip] your father should have tutored him on it!"

He knows nothing of money management and he's in debt so the first thing that happens is...he gets a load of money. Boggles the mind.
