Personally, if it were me thinking, I wouldn't put Things you CRAVE as the top box---in my honest opinion---yeah it was a hard category, but NOT a $100,000 answer. CRACKLE is my honest opinion was the toughest one in this round.
This is why I hate this version of the pyramid. When you win you big u r suppose to let the contestant celebrate for a little while before you ask who they brought with them. That's why Dick Clark was always the best and ever will be on this show.
lol. exactly. He needs to just let the contestants have their chance to celebrate. If you beat Michael Jordan in an NBA final would you sit down and just smile. No. You would jump up and down and celebrate for a long while before anything else happened.
38 seconds!... I think Barry Jenner had two of the fastest $100 000 wins of all. I could be wrong, but didn't the subjects in the Davidson era endgame seems easier than the Clark era... I mean 'Things you crave" for the top, c'mon!
This win is tied for the second fastest tourney time in Pyramid history (David Garrison did 38 seconds in 1988.)
Personally, I think 'Things You Crave' was one of those pesky Pyramid subjects where there is one or two really obvious clues and almost nothing else. If Peggy didn't get it on those two, I can't think of any other legal clue Barry could have said that would have given it to her.
(I was thinking 'A pregnant woman's pickles/ice cream', but that might have gotten buzzed out.)
@bcollegestar I think "A pregnant woman's pickles" or ice cream would have worked because there were no prepositional phrases. The trick I liked was clue givers rearranging the words to take out the prepositional phrases, often with possessives (e.g., the "infamous" an old woman's breasts clue). I think you could have also said a variation here, like "Your favorite food", " Your comfort food", "Your favorite chips" , or "A good steak", with the appropriate facial expressions and tone of voice.
And PS...Thanks John Davidson. It's clear that Barry Jenner needs you to tell him how to play this game. You should probably get Shelley Smith on the line too in case she's never played.
I know it's given the 4th $100,000 tournament in the John Davidson era--it took 7 attempts.
How many tries did it take for the contestants to win the $100,000 in the first, second, and third tournaments in the John Davidson era? Does anybody know?
Goes to show you that John Davidson has no timing when it comes to WC Big Wins and shows here.
Besides him constantly saying "sit down!," the other thing was that as soon as the big win festivities began, Davidson ran up to the WC podium as soon as the celebration started as if he won the $100K. Whereas Dick Clark sat back and allowed enough time for celebration, Davidson runs up there the second the celebration starts.
Oh, no! I wasn't angry at all. Sorry if I ranted, I was just moved about how grateful she was when she won. Of course, I didn't really like how JD kinda steamrolled over her moment.
I don't think John ruined it that much. He should have waited a little to tell her to sit down. However, she seemed to largely ignore him. She hugged her relatives anyway. Also, the host must time everything to fit in before the commercial. Finally, if she was angry, why did she hug John?
Wasn't that Barry Jenner there? He helped MG McCormack win 100,000 in a record Breaking win in 1987. He helped 2 people win 100,000 on the Pyramid. That's Incredible (Wait, That's another John Davidson show).
Hey, isn't that John Davidson?

At least Dick Clark would have let her run laps around the audience when she won.

The lady who won (Peggy Bealski) was also on "Wheel of Fortune" in 1988, during it's first "Wipeout Week." ;-)
