Happy New Year.If we can worship, we can also operate in the gifts of the Spirit. What motivates me to grow in the deeper levels of spiritual realm of the Power of the Holy Spirit, is the image of Jesus,my Lord,as He hung on the cross dying for me. God does not want us to be afraid of supernatural things or spiritual gifts. He bids us to walk with Him in the miraculous.Take a step of faith out of our comfort zones and dare to believe tht God can use us to demonstrate His power.
or you could just be a really nice, decent and informed individual who needs not live in fear of eternal damnation or any other scare-tactic fairy tales. Logic for the win !!!
Once again, a lesson on perspective- this one from the bible- "24 When the people saw him, they praised their god, saying, "Our god has delivered our enemy into our hands, the one who laid waste our land and multiplied our slain." The honorable deeds by Samson done for the Hebrews amount to a massacre of the philistines.
No eyes getting poked out? No breaking of the lions jaw? No running bulls with torches attached to their tails through the fields of the Philistines? I mean, you've shown the worse already with his murder suicide. I'm a fan of old tales, but lets get real, this Samson is a cruel man who died like a suicide bomber, hardly a good man.
@FirefollowedFear So, your saying that killing philistines isn't cruel? Of course it is! Samson- admittingly a mythical character- flew into a rage and killed innocent philistines to get the right number of cloaks to win a bet. Obviously in the myth the philistines are cruel, but so is Samson.
@FirefollowedFear His story is only in the bible, and it involves things that couldn't be possibly done. And yes, he is a hero, if you're a Hebrew, but if you're a Philistine he's a violent murderer. I was only trying to make you see from different perspectives.
I understand perspectives, but too every story there is a good and bad side. The philistines were bad and the Hebrews were good. The triumph of good over evil is not something to be frowned upon.
@FirefollowedFear I can say was is or isn't possible based on scientific data. Calling one side good and another bad is too simple. Why is one evil? Even if the philistines are cruel to the Hebrews, does that mean Samson is justified to kill temple goers? I think you're being too simple-minded.
@FirefollowedFear The world as it is now is representative of the past, science DOES apply to history "23 Now the rulers of the Philistines assembled to offer a great sacrifice to Dagon their god and to celebrate, saying, "Our god has delivered Samson, our enemy, into our hands."" The only wickedness of the temple goers is a religious ceremony celebrating the capture of a know murderer of their people. The only way this is wrong is if you don't believe in freedom of religion.
@Ebuverthebicepcurler first the scripture isnt a myth and second the phillistenes are idol worshipers the Liord gave sampson the strength to do what was right and he is NOT cruel
@MajinVageta1 cruel=hurting another person. Even justified punishment can be considered cruel. Cruel carries no judgment with it.
\ Oh, I see, they worship the wrong religion. So, does that mean I'd be justified in blowing up a Scientology church or a mosque? That seems to be where the logic is leading.
Yet she increased her prostitution, remembering the days of her youth when she engaged in prostitution in the land of Egypt. She lusted after their genitals as large as those of donkeys, and their seminal emission was as strong as that of stallions.
At the end of his life, blind and humbled, Samson finally realized his utter dependence upon God. Amazing grace! He once was blind, but now could see. No matter how far you've fallen away from God, no matter how big you've failed, it's never too late to humble yourself and turn over your dependence upon God. Ultimately, through his sacrificial death, Samson turned his miserable mistakes into victory. Let Samson's example persuade you—it's never too late.
@Entinlude I think hes saying if you get fucked by the enemy and youre about to die ask for strength from god to kill yourself and the enemy like if in pokemon if youre pokemon is about to die use explosion
they didn't make his hair long enough... I mean, Delilah was able to weave it in a loom in the Bible... I guess it would have been hard for them to draw him with hair down to his feet/tied around his waist... Delilah's hair is longer than his...
Also if you think what I am saying is absurd just remember that you can never say that an infinite amout of time has past so the universe had to begin some where. But as we know you cannot take nothing and turn it into something. You cannot creat matter out of absolut nothingness, energy can't appear out of the darkness. And even if there was matter or energy why the sudden explosion without cause. What I believe takes less faith than atheism.
Just as God could of "always existed" so couldeth the universe lol, just not in its current state. What i believe takes NO faith, i wouldnt even say I believe the big bang theory, I would just say its possible, and the evidence points towards it.
Bull You see tim could not have always been it had to start somewhere. You see can you ever say an infinite of time has past no you cannot. But let me ask you this can you say that a being outside of space and time could have created it yes you can. You see the universe could not have always been because it follows the rules of space and time and thus could not have always existed because an infinite amout of time will never pass. Thus I propose a being who doesn't follow those laws.
Science doesnt work like that bro, thats completly untestable and un-knowable, its the equivlent of saying "I dont know" except complely dishonest. Just because science may not have an answer for it now doesnt mean it wont. You cant fill in the gaps of science with "god". Imagine if we did that since the beggining of time, we would know nothing, we would of been stuck in the dark ages. 900 years ago, science couldnt explain rainbows your same arguement would work in that situation too.
Okay Okay I see your point about not filling in gaps with God. But that is not exactly what I am doing, You will not here me put god infront of any other gap in science except this, because well No matter how far we go back there will always be what happeed befor that, or what caused this. You see What if we discover what caused the big band and it wasn't god well what caused that, and what happened befor that. Science will never explain an infinite amout of time passing.
Well i'm not exactly convinced that the only altenative is a "being" that exist outside of time and space creating everything. To me it's a cop out, and since it's pretty much unknowable it's not worth looking into. I agree somethings in science we will never know, but we cant just make up stuff when we're stumped. Well anyways like you said, we will never agree,I look for solid evidence you live by faith.Only difference is you probably believe that I deserve to be tortured forever 4 my beliefs.
Well I agree to disagree we both have reasons why we believe what we believe, but I do not believe that you need to be tortured. I understand that you have reasons for believing what you believe and I think god will understand that. In my religion the only sin I believe is unforgivable is to believe god is real and exist but to choose not to follow you do not believe and that is different. Anyways I respect the fact that you tried to us facts unlike others who criticise me.
Well, yeah you have some pretty compassionate beliefs so they deserve respect, I dont see how anyone can believe that great people like Ghandi deserve eternal sufferage just because they were born into the wrong religion or whatever, but yeah stay up man, peace.
My friend once worked for a camp in the summer and the day befor it started about twenty people showed up to a sort of oritation event. The next day my friend was in charged of feeding the people he though that maybe since twenty showed up the day before that he would only have to feed about that many. Well Seventy people showed up. He didn't have enough corn dogs (thats what they were eating) so he sent the cooks to get more. He then brought in more cooks will the others where out.
Continuation of story. Well The cooks he had sent out'scar broke down but e didn't know that. So he wen back into the kitchen to check on the cooks (they where just teenages) and asked if the other cooks had returned with the corn dogs. The said what do you mean. He replied well we didn't have enough. Then the cooks responded Well everyone has already had 2. Only one box of sixteen xorndogs was open. That nigt the cooked almost 300 corndogs from one box. Many witness have attested this.
Final adition to story. Explan how 16 corndogs turned into around 300, that is a modern day experience of god that nothing you will say can disprove. Your science has nothing on that. My friends have had uncurable disease disappear completety due to prayer. My youth pastor was once on he ground convulsing eyes rolled back in his head and puking blood, and as soon as his friends finished prayig for him he came to. Will I cannot prove this to you it is why you will never convince me he isn't real.
Mike, your experiences arent "proof" of yahweah's existence if anything they would be evidence for it, But the thing is ALL religions have these stories and experiences. Ive seen foreign religions stab themselves in the stomach and pull the knife out without harm. Is that proof that their god is real? of course not, its just silly, If your god is out feeding campers corn dogs hes an idiot, tell him there is plenty of starving children around the world that he could be helping instead LMAO.
Look God works in mysterious ways, and helps those who believe you do not have to believe I won't hate you for it. I mean as a christian I would like you o believe but unlike others I won't try it force it upon you. I just want you to understand that the existance of God is fair more logical than Greek mythology. I mean in mythology around the world impossible things gappen but in christianity all things could happen (doesn't mean they did I believe they did though).
Exactly, you must of didnt read my inital comment, I never said believing in a God is as irrational as beliving in greek mythology, My whole arguement is beliving some stories of the bible like this one in particular is just as irrational as beliving in greek mythology. Both sound mythical, a man getting his strentgh from his hair (samson) vs. a man getting his stregth from the earth (Antaeus) whats the difference? both are completly silly, infact samsons story is even siller.
Also, you claim, god helps those who believe then why am I eating everynight while a christian kid starves? why is Bill Gates (who is athiest) one of the richest Americans, while plenty of christian kids starve? why does God help seem completly random and not favored to the christians?
Well if you recall the story of Jobe a rightious man who in the bible god took everythin from. Life contains many mysterys and I know it is hard for you to grasp but some people even have faith in hard times. He halps those who follow him but how he helps is not always visible. Thats why it is called faith if god whee to appear befor us and gives what we deserve, then would it really be faith or just believing in facts?
The story of Job is halrious and includes a very active god who litterally admitts that he destroyed Job for no reason. "you have incited Me against him to destroy him for no good reason". That story helped destory my faith in the God of the bible. What exactly does God want? didnt jesus die to save us? if thats the case then God should indeed appear to people so they can make a logical decsion of rather or not to accept jesus's gift, without the current doubt.
Are you really that ignorant. You can't compare this to Greek mythology. You can disprove Greek mythology with science but not Christianity, Judaism, or Muslim. You see Science matter can not be created or destroyed only changed, it also says that it is impossible for an infinite of time to have past. Tell me how both of those can exist at one time. Also Things do not just happen for no reason something had to start everything else that force is what I call god. Disprove that and I have more,
Both the stories of the bible and greek mythology are completly absurd and contradict science. Just take the genisis account which is in direct contradiction of the theory of evolution, which is essentially the backbone of Biology. Your last sentence is known as the God of the gaps fallacy, Its been refuted over and over so I wont address it here. Your ramblings about matter, all I have to say is e=Mc squared.
e=Mc squaredhas nohing to do with the fact that the univrse hdt stat some where but energy and cannot be created or destroyed only converted. Also the catholic curch saysthat they wll agree with evolution if science suports it they just believe it came from god. Science and godcan exist but science ad greek mythology can't. Gods gaps involves several things But what I stated is the only valid arguement for it.
The Theory of Evolution is in direct conflict with the genisis account, that was my entire point of my initial post. I said "I cant believe that people believe this stuff really happened" I never said anything about a belief in God. Sure God and Evolution can co-exist, but the litteral interpretation of the bible and evolution can not. However, the same can be said about zeus, "sure zeus and science can co-exist, you just cant take greek mythology litteral." "oh woppty doo"

Mike9042 2 years ago

Disprove that and I have more,
Mike9042 2 years ago
Both the stories of the bible and greek mythology are completly absurd and contradict science. Just take the genisis account which is in direct contradiction of the theory of evolution, which is essentially the backbone of Biology. Your last sentence is known as the God of the gaps fallacy, Its been refuted over and over so I wont address it here. Your ramblings about matter, all I have to say is e=Mc squared.
tghetto5 2 years ago
e=Mc squaredhas nohing to do with the fact that the univrse hdt stat some where but energy and cannot be created or destroyed only converted. Also the catholic curch saysthat they wll agree with evolution if science suports it they just believe it came from god. Science and godcan exist but science ad greek mythology can't. Gods gaps involves several things But what I stated is the only valid arguement for it.
Mike9042 2 years ago
The Theory of Evolution is in direct conflict with the genisis account, that was my entire point of my initial post. I said "I cant believe that people believe this stuff really happened" I never said anything about a belief in God. Sure God and Evolution can co-exist, but the litteral interpretation of the bible and evolution can not. However, the same can be said about zeus, "sure zeus and science can co-exist, you just cant take greek mythology litteral." "oh woppty doo"
