today people just want to shack up...have babies...throw them in a dumpster...laugh at those who believe in God...and pretend that we should all just get along. It sounds harsh...but it is what it is!
This is romance as it was depicted in the past. It is far superior to the blatant lack of taste in films currently. Their singing is also far above those who claim to be operatic professionals today
This song just drips of romantisim. It is such a powerful statement expressed by two people with beautiful voices: like Marlowe, it will live through the poetry of time.
What a range that incredibly beautiful voice of Jeanette MacDonald had.!The clarity and control is perfection itself.Besides this, her physical beauty and sweet mannerisms make her a singing angel. There shall never be another Jeanette MacDonald.May she sing with the angels.!
I saw this movie only once on TV when I was a low teenager decades ago. However, since then Indian love call and Rose-Marie became two of my favorite songs.
I have concerts and films of Nelson Eddy, Jeanette MacDonald, throws jhonfpalacio, Mario Del Monaco, Franco Corelli, Caruso, Alfredo Kraus, tagliavinni, Gigli, Luis Mariano, and many others, interested write to me
Eddy Nelson and Jeanette McDonald were in their souls actually literal TWIN FLAMES in love; that's why their singing of love rang SO true and deep with their fans. We all have a twin flame or other half; when God created us as balls of living fire, He split us into both male & female halves; since then, we have tragically, as the Famed Love Birds' movies goes, in the matter universe, we lost touch with our other self. In this New Age, we are meant to reunite once again as ONE and find TRUE love.
My Twin sister and I also saw these 2 when we were small girls and are also old women now. What you said about them was beautiful and gave me chills. No nothing will ever come close and Thank God for these two incredible people.
Although we all thought MacDonald and Eddy were lovers/married, because of their screen magic, they were in fact married to other people. There was never a romantic connection, as far as the literature, gossip goes.
Yes, I understand that they were married and not to each other but my understanding is that they carried on a lifetime love affair: or maybe it is just romantic to think so. Thanks for your comment.
One of the great love affairs both on and off screen. It is opera at its highest. Thanks for the posting. What person could not be a romantic after listening to it.
Jeannette Macdonald en Nelson Eddy are realy wonderfull. Although i'm only 40 years old, i love this music. Incredible music. Thanks for posting this clip

Of course the great thing about this movie is the incredible miscasting of a very young Jimmy Stewart as the criminal

I saw this movie in 1948 and was so impressed that I decided to emigrate to Canada. I did, in 1950 and never returned to England.
They were a wonderful Duo and the movies were wonderful unlike the crap Hollywood produces today.
