Or a system where citizens vote for each issue themselves is also democratic. The communal aspects of communism could even be maintained by a democratically elected hierarchy. Just as a side note we are not a true democracy. We are a republic. Look it up. The people do NOT elect the president. Don't you remember that from grade school? An electoral college elects the president. The popular vote really doesn't mean much. There was one past president (can't remember his name, but look it up it won't be hard to find) who lost the election but won the popular vote.

Or a system where citizens vote for each issue themselves is also democratic. The communal aspects of communism could even be maintained by a democratically elected hierarchy. The current American system was devised before the invention of the telephone or automobile. There are better ways.

This is yet another reason to use Linux. And for all of you SoftMonkeys out there, linux is really easy to use now and can be adapted to anything that it is needed. In windows/dos an executable can be infected with a virus and can then be used to harm or hamper anything going on. With Linux, anything that requires administrative rights need to have a password entered and any time one wants to mod it, they have do it as root (using a password). Windows can not do this.

THe only real problem ist to infect the machines, which would be done bei some supervisor who has accses to the machines (bribed, trickes into, or member of a party).
THe second problem, is that you must be clever when cheating, und count only every 3 vote wrong. Given that the result are close, the manipulation of a few devices can make a difference.

I disagree, I think its mostly the younger generation that seems to know whats going on. I'd say about 90% of the older generation conservatives in particular seem to think everything is alright. In the past it has always been the young generation to realize whats really going on and stand up against the status quo, Vietnam for example. How to vote:
Turn up at the polling station.
Get a ballot paper.
Put your cross on the ballot paper for your preferred candidate.
Put the completed paper in the box.
The votes get counted.
The candidate with the most votes wins.
At no point in this simple process is a computer of any kind required. 'They' will tel you it makes it quicker, that its safer, that it encourages 'the young folks' to vote. Its all a lie. They make money from it. They can distort elections. They want to control.

NH, in the dem primary, used resealable seals on the ballot boxes. The seal could be lifted and replaced at least 5 times without detection.

I think the reason FOX is showing this now is to plant the seeds of doubt and discontent because the agenda is to have people pissed off no matter who wins...this way they'll have civil disobedience to accelerate the police state agenda that we are so clearly in..if it's on FOX, like most mainstream news, it is to advance an agenda!!..not to be "fair and balanced"

i want obama to win i looked at his issues. everyone my age of 22 and over should vote. if mcain wins there is something wrong with the voting. i know that tons of people like obama he wants change. the way he talks is like martin luther king jr. the cia dont like him. i know one thing if obama wins he will help the poor. he might gradually pull out of iraq. i hope he taxes the rich to create programs for poor people. if mccain wins he will be another bush. mccain made a joke about nuking iran.

That's not the point, you should not be able to hack them, The design is flawed and the machines should not have been used in any election.
You can put the virus before the election day, or during the election day, as some of this voting places have covered booths.

Thanks Fox 8! It is these type of machines and the ability of them to be hacked that many don't believe their vote will count and therefore don't vote. I am one of them. We all need to send a letter, like I did, to our election officials to request something simpler and with as little risk as possible to fraud. Will you please help to bring truthful results back to the voting system by sending an e-mail today?

it is interesting to know that Dick Cheney is a stakeholder in a company( i forget) responsible for the electrical voting machines in America. In Venezuela voters submit both an electrical and paper ballot in order to account for all votes in which voters keep a reciept for their candidate of choice. why are votes anonymous?
sure people could feel pressured to vote differently if they are being recorded non-anonymously, but the anonimity of voting gives the ballot staff the power to give any result.

Votes are secret so Guido doesn't break you legs and rob your store the next day when you vote against his uncle. That said, the system needs to be improved, and there are cryptographic systems that can provide anonymity *and* auditability-- just don't hold your breath waiting for the democrats or republicans to endorse using such systems.

starken that's dumb. Secret and anonymous are completely different. Anonymous means a piece of paper that say "1 vote for guy1" without stating who made it. Paper votes are just that!. You don't need "cryptographic systems" etc, the one who make the tool can ALWAYS hack it. The problem is with every technology, paper count MADE PUBLICLY to rappresentants of all parties is the only safe and proven way. It's a shame America lost its democracy a few years ago.... I hope americans will realize soon.

That is what I call investigative reporting, Faux style. Bev Harris from Black Box Voting uncovered this years ago. Perhaps Diebold can similarly investigate Faux News for fraud. Clearly, Diebold systems have been proven repeatedly to be fraudulent as the company itself and should be thrown out anywhere they are in use. Vote absentee and refuse electronic voting altogether!
