Was a breeze of fresh air, especially as he's a History lecturer, and more importantly, a helluva Human being. Said that this part of Hick's stand up was that it's still relevant today despite being 20 years old or so.

Are you really trying to tell me that we haven't evolved past the point of needing to do so? Why does anyone need to impose their power or will on another person? We've been conditioned to believe that violence amongst ourselves is a necessary evil, when in reality it's the opposite. We're all a singular entity, we're all one. @himaru21 we can't evolve past the human condition. Sorry. Resources are scarce. I'm all for fairness, but there just isn't enough. The only way world peace could happen is if a regime took over. That peace would be a lie anyways because of inner turmoil. The ONLY way to have peace is to take it with power, and to preserve it with power. This "we are all one" theory is really weak. There isn't any evidence for that one. That argument is also the Buddhist argument, but they don't have evidence.

@TheDavid2222 You may be right about that, but there's no way of knowing if we don't at least try and better the human condition. Although I humbly disagree with your perceived lack of evidence that all living things are connected by a singular, spiritual energy. There is scientific evidence of life after death, although the only way to prove it to yourself is to experience it firsthand. You should read DMT: The Spirit Molecule. It may just change your mind.

@himaru21 sorry , but there is no evidence for any metaphysical being. I might end up as a philosophy major. I mention this because I study questions like this academically. The "experience it yourself"argument is defunct on logical grounds. You should look into philosophy. It WILL disappoint you though because a prominent philosopher hasn't believed in a "spiritual energy" for a couple hundred years now. Just because we are not "all one" doesn't mean we have to be enemies. Ignorance= suffering.

But there are some things logic and reasoning can't explain, life after death being one of them. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a theist in any kind of traditional judeo-christian sense, so I'm not trying to push my religious beliefs here. If you ever get a chance to try some DMT you'd understand, though. I agree with you on the last part though.

I am simply living up to the oath I took for this country both foreign and domestic.
