Please Excuse me.. I was never really born in the N64 era but more of the Gamecube era! But I do have the N64 its in my loft turning yellow for some reason... But I really like the moon part of rainbow road especially its really calm :) Try listing to it after a bath, it feels great. But I have to say N64, DS, MK7 have the best ending credits ever :')

What truly makes this song amazing is that, if you drive perfectly(as in, you don't get blasted away by any items) it hits its climax just as you begin to climb to the peak of this stage, rushing towards the shining star at the top.

I'm not sure if it was intentional or not, but the effect it gives gives me shivers every time, especially if you're in first place holy crap.

@John12346 When the final lap music kicks in and you enter that tube for the first time, it was pretty exhilarating.

It calms down just as you get to the extremely vertical u turn so you can focus on the weird dimesnions of it. I think that was intentional, game designers have really honed the ability to combine music, sound effects and aesthetics to make them as pleasing as possible over the last few years or so.

@RobSSBB What I mean is that, in the case that you've made a perfect run of Section 3, 0:26 happens while you're ascending the vertical U-turn, racing towards that star in the sky, before you head back down and the music winds down with you.

I think the developers intended for everyone to get through that phase of the stage uninterrupted, based on how there are no items present in Section 3 until you get to the base of the vertical U-turn.
