I installed an earlier model a year or so ago. I have cable broadband internet service in my home office. The cable modem ethernet output cable connects to a ten year old 4 port router. Two ports are connected to the ethernet port on a couple of desktops here in the office. A third port is connected to one of the adapters and plugged into a wall socket. Other adaptor is plugged in near the TV with the ethernet cable hooked to the Directv HD/DVR. Works great!!!
This video is trash. The signal isn't THAT secure, it propogates outside your house wiring, riddled with interference and is NOWHERE near wired ethernet speeds.
How far can one adapter be from another one? Does it have to be inside the house? I have a stable with the same electricity connection but its a good block away from the house.
impossible to say. depends greatly on how the wire is ran and what type of wire was used. you'd have to experiment. just be ready to return the hardware back to the store you got it from.
@arodgreen works with any device that communicates over ethernet. The Devices will have to be set with the appropriate frequency or channel on both ends so you will need a transmitter and receiver for each end.
wondering if all the units are the same unit ? or is it a 1 transmitter 1 reciever ? and can i use more then one reciver ? or will i need pairs only ? (1 transmitter and 1 reciever & 1 transmitter and 1 reciever ) little help thanks.
would this work with a belkin modem which is not a wireless router its a modem? i will show you a picture about it but i don't want to giv me email publicly so please inbox me in youtube. thanks :)
From what i understand you only need 1 Unit that plugs directly into the router and a single unit, per item plugged into other rooms for other devices, so for example if you had 3 things to connect in 3 different rooms you would need 4 devices in total, 1 connected to router and the other 3 devices in the other rooms, OR if you had 3 items in another room you would buy the 4 port option of these devices.
I hope i am making sense lol, this could potentially do away with wireless which i hate.
@charlizd If you have a bunch of devices in one room, you can use the XAVB1004 which is a Home Theater Swtich. This will give you four ports to plug in to. And yes, you can add more single port adapters in other rooms if you want to just connect one device. A great solution for dead spots in your home and expanding a high speed connection anywhere.
So, if I wanted to connect it through my house, would I just by 1 'sender' and say, 5 'receivers' in the rooms I want the internet in? Or would I need to buy a new pair everytime I wanted to add the internet into another room?
@nutwals you would buy 1 sender and 5 receivers as a standard Router that you usually get from your ISP (internet service provider) will only have 1 maybe 2 ports for which to attach your Netgear Sending device to.
@sugrue2010 Powerline gives you the same performance you would if you had your device connected directly into your router. So it gives you wired reliability without having to add new wires or drill holes in your walls.
@juggernaut12321 Not only does it work with any router, Powerline works with any networking manufacturer. You can also add single adapters later if you want to expand even more.
this is magic

@nutwals
Yes, this is a good question as the video seems to imply that only one connection, or 'pair', can be used on the power lines.
