@taxiride1 No this is way beyond a fine matter, you need to really understand what jury duty is all about, it's bad enough that he lied to the court, but on top of it all, he went to see a bloody show! are you kidding me?

There were other jurors who probably didn't want to be there themselves, but its the bloody law! He got what he deserved you can't mess about with the judicial system, it is there for us all and we can't have nobheads treating it like its a nothing its serious.

@MadameDeJaVu Prison sentences, in my opinion, should only ever be used to punish serious crimes, protect wider society, reform potential repeat offenders and as a way to satisfy a victim. In this case this was a lie to a judge and the ego of the machinery in the system he presides over, there is no risk to society (nobody dies if someone skips jury service), it's unlikely that this guy would miss jury service again, for obvious reasons and there is no victim.

@taxiride1 In the long run the victims would be us, if every Tom Dick and Harry thinks oh it's okay to shirk their responsibilities, because you will only get fined etc... he did it with intent and in his own words 'he thought he would just be fined'' so he did think about the consequences and just didn't give a damn, well he got what he deserved. Respect the Law plain and simple. He only done 4 days boo hoo!
