  • bonjour, hello

an other version of "my funny valentine"

  • One of my favorite singers. Her The Moon is a Harsh Mistress was voted as one of the best performances in the last 50 years! Eva Cassidy is another great...also died young. Pity she died young! Why do so many good artistes die young?

  • radka toneff is a singular voice, as can only be said of the finest. finest as in raw, pure, clever, complicated, natural. woman had soul to big to keep. i came to her late but catching up is my happiness.

  • So very glad to have learned of her and to hear this song/her music, so sad to know that she passed away-it would have been incredible to hear her now. Her voice would have been just a little bit mellower and perhaps lower, and even more beautiful if that were possible. I would have moved mountains to hear her performance now, and I am "just an American." Thank-you again for this...

  • Melt to your heart

    Sowo

  • This is so incredibly lovely.

  • i am a 16 year old girl, and im disappointed that music these days isnt like this anymore :(

we have britney spears and miley cyrus,

what happened to real artists ?

  • I love this NOT SLOW at all. Not as good as Chet, but different

  • best version of this song !

  • my favorite version <3

  • I heard about this song from a book called "Goldengrove" and i didnt know if this song was for real, but i guess it is. its beautiful and sad all at the same time.

  • im doing this song for a solo festival.. i love it.. :) get more of her songs... :)

  • Beautiful

  • Today my soul is so sad!

  • R.I.P

  • Thank you so much !...A gift from heaven.

  • wow it has been way to long since i sat down with this album!

    Thank you<3

  • Astonishing. So fresh it makes me feel I'm hearing this song for the first time.

  • One of the loveliest versions of this song I've heard - and I'm collecting them.

  • I strongly disagree. Her voice is way too "young", and it doesn't have all the emotions and sadness and soul that Radka's voice has.

  • That's ok, you're entitled to your opinion. And I understand how this version can seem "boring" to some, especially those who don't really listen to a lot of jazz/alternative music, or to young people :) Radka's listeners are usually a bit older than 18 (or 21, as I am).

  • @Lotielin Here, here! 22. Only those who understand real sadness understand Radka! Than again only those who understand real sadness can comprehend absolute happiness...Thank you Radka! I hope you left this world with more peace than you lived in it.

  • @Lotielin I'm 22 years old, and this is probably the best version of "My funny valentine" I've ever heard(not counting Chet Baker, of course). But as you point out, I'm also an avid jazz- fan, so I might have different musical preferences than your average twenty year old.

  • @Lotielin I fell in love w/ this version years ago and still am I. I'm 21 now; is that weird? ^_^

  • @fatherofthepride1 only in your dreams...

  • crystaline, spare and beautifully sad. thank you.

  • It is released on the album "Fairytales" (1986), Norway's best selling jazz album to this day, and Steve Dobrogosz plays piano beautifully on all 10 tracks.

  • Anyone know who play the piano on this one?

  • Steve Dobrogosz plays the piano

  • Thx - I guess that is one of his peaks

  • This is extraordinarily good !!! I've never heard of Radka. She has a way with the words in this song like I have never heard before. Great performance. Thank you for sharing the video Lotielin.

  • i freaking love this this ! :)

  • oh no I have been listening to her covers including Jimmy Webb's The Moon is a Harsh Mistress and did not know he passed away so VERY VERY sad

  • Estraçalha, simplesmente estraçalha. Demais!

  • We Americans are so blindly provincial, even when it comes to music.. Ms Toneff, who I've never heard of, proves that artistry defies national origin. Could this be regarded more highly if she were American?

  • @rvcrvc2 very possibly ;-) But she's Norwegian, so in the average americans eyes, she's probably just a farm girl? :-P

  • Yes, she is amazing alright! Thank you for sharing this!

  • Im in love in this recording.

  • I know, isn't it amazing? Her voice is perfect for this song.

  • ...Her voice was perfect for every song...
