Why in the beginning, Hikori talks like he had never succeed his promised to Sayuri and like he never rescued her? He sound like she was died or something... But, in the end of the movie, he tells her that they will rebuild their relationship of love to make it deeper again. I seriously don't understand the beginning ! Can someone explain it to me please ? Thanks :D ( Oh! And sorry for my english, I'm french. I'm not use to write in this language.)
Watched this last night, funny thing is i have had the DVD for about a year now, i regret not watching it earlier xD this anime is just beautiful and the soundtrack is the same, i couldnt fully understand why she was connected to this tower though
in my opinion write before the movie ended it should of been sayuri saying i love you to hiroki then the movie ends :) would of been a epic end tho thats just my opinion ;)
@easythuglife I think instead, she should have Awoken and said right away "I Love You..." Remember, u remember ur dreams when u wake up, so she had a minute or so to say it, big shame the author decide to leave the love as a dream and begin it anew.
k well heres the ending. hiroki plans to fly sayuri to the tower to fulfill their promise in hope of waking sayuri up, but if she wakes up the tower will suck the world into a pararell world. in the movie sayuri always said "i feel like im losing something" and wen hiroki reached the tower, she found out that she will lose her memory if she wakes up. so she prays to god to let her have a few minutes of memory to tell hiroki that she loves him.
but when she awoke she tried to tell him but it was alrdy too late, she lost her memory. but hiroki tells her thats its alright and told her that they will begin their lives now and start their relationship anew and make new memories. so he flies away and shoots the missile to destroy the tower b4 it sucks the world into the parrarel world. its a sad but somehow happy ending wich made me feel an emotion so different from the others
u should check this movie's script writer's other work , 5 centimeters per second . It's also a romance anime movie and u'll find the ending the direct opposite of this .

it's a movie about an alternative universe where japan is divded between two factions. it's about a couple of kids with a dream to go to a tower they always watch at in the horizon, i'm not really good at explaining this. But it's one of the best anime movies i've seen. And the first movie i saw from Makoto Shinkai, after this he became my favourite artist.

in my opinion write before the movie ended it should of been sayuri saying i love you to hiroki then the movie ends :) would of been a epic end tho thats just my opinion ;)
