"Be true to the game because the game will be true to you if you try to shortcut the game then the game will short cut you. if you put forth the effort then good things will be bestowed upon you. thats truly about the game and about life too." MJ
god when he said the DREAM TEAM , i just about died. i loved watching the DREAM TEAM. both 1 and 2 were the greatest teams ever assembled. no other team could ever beat those two teams. and it was awsome to see them blow out all the other teams by like 40 plus pts. lmao...... good old memories
Kenny made the best point about J's fundamentals. Normally the hyper athletic guys skimp on the basics. That's why he was able to dominate for so long and then still be effective into his late 30's once his physical advantages were no longer there.
@Cllwy07 I disagree w ith this ... Where David Robinson. ANd SHaq wouldn't be so low. ANd Dennis Rodman. OR patrick Ewing Cylde drexler. DOnt forget these players
Dude that list is right on, if you factor everything in. Although personally dominating performances. (everyone in their primes)
PG: Magic (1987)
SG: Jordan (1989)
SF: Bird (1987)
PF: Barkley (1987)
C: Hakeem (1990)
You cant really trust stats prior to 1980 because of the way the game was played. I mean Kareem was averaging like 16/17 RPG and its well known Kareem was a weak rebounder. More shots back then = More rebounds. Look at wilts and russells RPG
Judging the center position is so hard. I have to eliminate Russell because he was simply defensive specialist. I have to eliminate Shaq because he never once played without a superstar perimeter player ( also not really defensive specialist). My top 3 have to be Wilt, Kareem and Hakeem. Wilt couldnt shoot FTs though (same as shaq) so defensive teams are always going to abuse those two. I think it really comes down to kareem and hakeems best years. With maybe 94 Robinson
Uhmm Kareem with an old Oscar Robertson and Wilt hardly anyone till at the end of his career. Hakeem with absolutely nobody up until 1995. Shaq played with All Star perimeter players in their prime. Hardaway, Kobe and Wade. Those are superstars
I must say tho, the Lakers 3 peat was all about Shaq's dominance. Kobe back then was only known to be a scorer not much else. I like the Kobe these past two years much much better.
personally I think Hakeem is the most skilled center of all time and Kareem second.
@piriciguatuba in this day and age where folks are getting famous for sleazy sex tapes and acting like baffoons on reality shows makes me appreciate one of the top 3 famous people on the planet even more, MJ had a talent and busted his ass every day to maximize that talent and then some, all of his success he deserves because he earned it, I never got to see Ruth at all, missed Ali prime but I did get to see their equal from start to finish
MJ is the best ever but Kobe has been the best player since Jordan's retirement that's been the last 6-7 years. Lebron is a great player but to be compared to MJ he needs to win championship rings.
(Comment 1 of 2) I believe Michael Jordan is the greatest athlete, to date, of all time. You've heard that before, I'm sure. LOL Here's my reason why, though:
Here's another perspective: think that we've actually seen 4 professional "Michael Jordans." Jordan #1 played with his athletic talent, and while teams were able to stop the Bulls, they couldn't stop HIM. Jordan #2 learned how to lead/involve the team while being great. Jordans #3 & 4 learned how to be "smarter" in his game.
watched just about every single Bulls game with MJ. Had season tix 96 thru 98 . saw every championship. Simply the best player on the court every night.
i had the privilege to watch michael jordan win the last 2 of his 6 championships. the rest of them i was to young to understand and let me just say i feel honored i was able to watch it in person. i also had the privilege to watch kobe work his way as a lil rookie to the man he is today breaking records left and right. and now i am able to watch the kid lebron and the skies the limit. we need to stop comparing and enjoy their greatness im jus bummed i never saw magic.

It doesn't matter if you went to college or not. Look and see for yourself, there are great players who came out of high school. Kobe's heart was in the right place when he said that he wanted to go to the NBA. So he can play with the best of the best (Mike).
They are comparable because of the intensity they both have, the competitiveness, the unlikely hero aspect of them is very similar. Okay, so Kobe had a tough time with shot selection. He changed.
Jordan is on a level of his own, we all know that.
Kobe is a great player but not nearly or probably never will be as good as Jordan. Jordan is just somebody/something that comes once in a lifetime. Nobody will ever fill his shoes.
my opinion is that kobe's current athletic & playing ability can rival jordan's, his game has matured, hes no longer the green kid shooting airballs in the playoffs, however he will never be put on the same pedestal as MJ. The main point is impact and influence on the game.

Respectfully, I must say: Kobe Bryant is athletically gifted and skillful. But as a player in the aggregate, Kobe Bryant is nowhere close to the player MIchael Jordan was. Michael Jordan put up the most points in the NBA at a very high FG percentage, with rebounds and assists, and led the NBA in steals on a regular basis. Michael Jordan, during his prime, was by far the best player in the NBA.
Kobe Bryant has never been the best player in the NBA. It's been Shaq. It's been Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, and now Lebron James for the past 4 years (yes, Lebron should be the NBA's reigning 4-time MVP). Lebron does so much more for his team than Kobe Bryant. Sorry. Kobe is a talented scorer, and if I were coaching, I'd want him on my team. But he's certainly not as great as Lebron James or Michael Jordan.
Kobe Bryant is better than Lebron James.....He's a more smart defender, he's a more ferocious competitor, he's got a more diverse combination of offensive moves (especially in the post). Lebron's team has sucked so of course he has to carry a larger part of the load but, I can't help but believe that if Kobe had been with the Cav's, they would be made it through the Magic. Kobe's clutch and he works so hard. He's no Michael Jordan but he's better than Lebron. Lebron's got potential to be better.
what crack are you smoking ? Yes Shaq is the reason kobe has 3 rings. But lebron hasnt won shit so for you to say he is better than kobe is just plain stupid. So dont say James or Jordan cuz James doesnt come close to jordan.. Look at stats u fool .. lebron isnt even avg jordans whole care ppg this year alone lol and he is in his prime .. IDIOT
@atp6pac listen: don't dare be disrespectful toward me. kobe actually has 4 rings. but robert horry has like 6 rings. similarly, PPG is not the most accurate measure of greatness. yes, jordan is the best. but lebron clearly does more for his team than kobe. and by the way, jordan didn't have any rings when he was lebron's age either.
Michael Jordan went to college duh. I know how many rings kobe has lol .. I told you shaq won him 3 and a super stacked team won him his 4th. Either way Lebron is the 2nd best right now because he needs to win a ring because thats what greats do. Lebron does a lot for his team but i do not see Jordan in him .. I see more jordan in kobe. Lebron is just a bull but in a league where we lack true bigmen like the ones from the 90's. Jordan had towers to drive through
Michael played the point in 1988-89. That was Doug Collins last season as a head coach. He ended the season with a string of tripledoubles and staged two upsets in the playoffs before bowing out to the Pistons.

like a soccer playa only can shoot with his left leg - thats bull shit i dont play with the pros proffesioanlly but still i use both my arms legs i might even operate on me a second penis for more lust and satisfaction!!!!
You have to be the greatest if your number (23) is retired and then taken out of retirement so that you can wear it again, and then re-retired. Michael Jordan is the best, the greatest of all time. All they naysayers are just HATERS!!!!
MJ is DA GOAT period! Even Magic and Charles say it themselves, so what should dat tell da fans who hate on da topic of MJ being da greatest?! Like if sum1 is great n another sport, they'll say he's da MJ of baseball or hockey etc...Anyways Jordan change da way b-ball is played 2day and 4 an example da way we look at kicks, I don't see or hear no 1 camping out for any other kicks besides Jordans!! No diss 2 any other H.O.F.'ers but it's 1. Michael Jordan then what ever u want after that... lol ;)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
a great one... magic was the best all around player tho.... hard to compare- one a scorer, other a team player who could dominate without scoring.. love em both
Sorry dude. Magic had awesome court vision and knowlegde of the game and is one of the most electrifying passers to ever touch a basketball but his defense wasn't HOF material. MJ it considered the greatest by many HOFers coz he IS the complete player. If he doesn't drop 30, he'll grab 15 boards, or dish 12 assists, or make 9 steals. What ever it takes to win.
when he retired, he was the all time leader in assists and top 5 in steals... he was a 6 9 player and played team defense, not a great one on one defender, but it didn't matter because that wasn't his role... magic could score 5 pts and dominate a game... or he could drop 40 at will (80 finals, 90 series vs phoenix- 44 pts) but when magic scored, team suffered
strive for excellence! kobe is too far behind michael jordan's back and we all got to admit it. MJ is right in his interview, that other players now in the nba have come to enjoy the things they dont deserve. The players of today just lack the spirit! the intensity, the love for the game, the competitive drive, the enthusiasm, the greatness, the grace, the spirit and the fullness of the soul that michael jordan has towards the game!jordan is the past, the present and the future of basketball!
this is a great vid, in these volatile times when all hope seem to have been lost under the shades of chaos, immorality, decadence and abasement, we all need to draw our strengths from the examples of other great people who have surpassed their own limitations and virtually achieved what most people consider as impossible, michael jordan's influence is tremendous considering the greatest human spirit ever, that he offered into the game of basketbal
Thank you very much for posting this. I am a huge fan of Jordan's, and I am always looking fo something new I haven't seen before. Obviously, I missed this back in the day because I had no idea this tribute even existed. Thanks again for posting it.
Thanks a lot for posting this. MJ is truly the absolute greatest. He's an inspiration not only to basketball players and athletes, but also to anyone that wants to achieve greatness in life.
Some people dream of being like MJ. Others work hard for hours and become like MJ.

All-Time Teams 1-5: Based On Winining, Overall Skills,& Ablilty At His Position
(This Is Very Important NBA History Lesson):
1st Team: Magic,Jordan,Bird,Duncan,Russell
2nd Team: Cousy,Kobe,Dr. J.,K. Malone,Wilt
3rd Team: West,Oscar,Havlicek,Barkley,Kareem
4th Team: Stockton,Baylor,Petit,Hayes,Hakeem

rommelojello 2 years ago
How is it ignorant to say so Rommel?
Come now, Kobe compared to Mike? You do know that Kobe is the worse NBA player for shot attempts to points ratio ever right?
Kobe's fundamental's pale in contrast to Mike, who actually went to college, and mastered the fundamentals.
There is no comparison at all, and to say I'm ignorant for saying no one touches him is hilarious.
TrueSephiros 2 years ago
It doesn't matter if you went to college or not. Look and see for yourself, there are great players who came out of high school. Kobe's heart was in the right place when he said that he wanted to go to the NBA. So he can play with the best of the best (Mike).

Larry, and Magic were not even on the same lvl as MJ, which both have stated MJ>>>Them.
Kobe at times, just simply fails to show up, you don't see MJ during a Finals scoring only 17 points, on the biggest stage do you?
College did matter, look at their fundamentals, MJ is vastly superior, and to think it doesn't factor in to why he dominated is ignorance.

Proof that deveraux32 doesn't know shit about basketball:
His first top 5 list in imdb: 1) Magic 2) Bird 3) Jordan 4) Shaq 5) Russell
A few months later: 1) Magic 2) Bird 3) Russell 4) Jordan 5) Hakeem
A few weeks later: 1) Magic 2) Isiah 3) Dr.J 4) Bird 5) Hakeem
Absolutely clueless!

You have to be the greatest if your number (23) is retired and then taken out of retirement so that you can wear it again, and then re-retired. Michael Jordan is the best, the greatest of all time. All they naysayers are just HATERS!!!!
kahdicha 3 years ago 5
I think the number 23 should be retired for everyone in the NBA everyone that wears it is just a Michael wanna-be

Michael Jordan then what ever u want after that... lol ;)

a great one... magic was the best all around player tho.... hard to compare- one a scorer, other a team player who could dominate without scoring.. love em both

What ever it takes to win.
pacmannz 3 years ago
when he retired, he was the all time leader in assists and top 5 in steals... he was a 6 9 player and played team defense, not a great one on one defender, but it didn't matter because that wasn't his role... magic could score 5 pts and dominate a game... or he could drop 40 at will (80 finals, 90 series vs phoenix- 44 pts) but when magic scored, team suffered

strive for excellence! kobe is too far behind michael jordan's back and we all got to admit it. MJ is right in his interview, that other players now in the nba have come to enjoy the things they dont deserve. The players of today just lack the spirit! the intensity, the love for the game, the competitive drive, the enthusiasm, the greatness, the grace, the spirit and the fullness of the soul that michael jordan has towards the game!jordan is the past, the present and the future of basketball!

thank you some people just dont understand . that mj and kobe are on two different levels

this is a great vid, in these volatile times when all hope seem to have been lost under the shades of chaos, immorality, decadence and abasement, we all need to draw our strengths from the examples of other great people who have surpassed their own limitations and virtually achieved what most people consider as impossible, michael jordan's influence is tremendous considering the greatest human spirit ever, that he offered into the game of basketbal
