Kenny made the best point about J's fundamentals. Normally the hyper athletic guys skimp on the basics. That's why he was able to dominate for so long and then still be effective into his late 30's once his physical advantages were no longer there.

You cant really trust stats prior to 1980 because of the way the game was played. I mean Kareem was averaging like 16/17 RPG and its well known Kareem was a weak rebounder. More shots back then = More rebounds. Look at wilts and russells RPG

Judging the center position is so hard. I have to eliminate Russell because he was simply defensive specialist. I have to eliminate Shaq because he never once played without a superstar perimeter player ( also not really defensive specialist). My top 3 have to be Wilt, Kareem and Hakeem. Wilt couldnt shoot FTs though (same as shaq) so defensive teams are always going to abuse those two. I think it really comes down to kareem and hakeems best years. With maybe 94 Robinson

It doesn't matter if you went to college or not. Look and see for yourself, there are great players who came out of high school. Kobe's heart was in the right place when he said that he wanted to go to the NBA. So he can play with the best of the best (Mike).

They are comparable because of the intensity they both have, the competitiveness, the unlikely hero aspect of them is very similar. Okay, so Kobe had a tough time with shot selection. He changed.

my opinion is that kobe's current athletic & playing ability can rival jordan's, his game has matured, hes no longer the green kid shooting airballs in the playoffs, however he will never be put on the same pedestal as MJ. The main point is impact and influence on the game.

Michael Jordan put up the most points in the NBA at a very high FG percentage, with rebounds and assists, and led the NBA in steals on a regular basis. Michael Jordan, during his prime, was by far the best player in the NBA.

Kobe Bryant has never been the best player in the NBA. It's been Shaq. It's been Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, and now Lebron James for the past 4 years (yes, Lebron should be the NBA's reigning 4-time MVP). Lebron does so much more for his team than Kobe Bryant. Sorry. Sorry dude. Magic had awesome court vision and knowlegde of the game and is one of the most electrifying passers to ever touch a basketball but his defense wasn't HOF material. MJ it considered the greatest by many HOFers coz he IS the complete player. If he doesn't drop 30, he'll grab 15 boards, or dish 12 assists, or make 9 steals. What ever it takes to win.
