the EP is called: Read the Books. this song sounds a lot like anything by The Books. so maybe instead of trying to figure its genre, you should listen to The Books.
This work of art here, falls into the category of IDM (Intelligent Dance Music), in which it can be a mix of many genres such as glitch, trip hop, and all sorts of other stuff.
Well I did find this looking up "Trip hop"... But I have yet to find anything under the "Trip hop" label that is remotely like this... Like I would call some of what RJD2 does "Trip hop".. not this, necessarily
@MrKittyfiddler I thought that too and that's when I realized that the note at the very beginning of the track is there so that the song will just continue when you loop it =P
I remember seeing "Prefuse 73" in 2004 with "Beans", and "Battles" at The Parish Room in Austin, Tx. Tyondai Braxton from "Battles" did the track "TY versus Detchibe." Scott Herren played the keys, drums, and samples while another drummer and D.J. played with him. The show was amazing and I could not have seen a better lineup that was packed with energy. PREFUSE 73!!!!!!!!!!!
@nikezooms Yeah if you listen to this type of music he is. Walk down the street and ask someone if they have heard of Prefuse. Oh and than try and explain what type of music he plays and than see what they say to you.
Some retard on another post asked if Prefuse was Trip Hop And then some cracker says dub step. WTF???? Cant' we just call it Hip Hop and call it a day. shit
I don't believe so. Dubstep is heavily influenced by the basslines of UKGrime and the drums of Jungle. Listen to soe more Grime and you will start to understand what Dubstep is more.
Let's call it drugs

I've always considered Prefuse 73 to be Electro-acoustic.

@madregoose acoustic entails the lack of electronics, you fool.

This track is great; the rest of the album doesn't quite measure up though.
Also try upping an HD version because the sound quality on SD YouTube videos is atrocious.
