Some people may wish to have the car running quite under spontaneous occasions, and their isnt anything else out there that can provide performance and quite.
@Mrthiennnn Problem is you CANT reliably TUNE a car with an open AND a closed muffler. You end up with a compromise on both OR a big risk on one or the other........
@Brettmiddleton Understood, but for someone who wishes to have a varex to keep the exhaust quite when needed but usually has it open, would it cause damage to the vehicle if it's set on CLOSED and driven around for 30minutes-1hr?
@Mrthiennnn it all depends on HOW its driven and HOW its tuned. I am yet to find an owner with a varex that drives it in a reliable way. Every one always risks damage at one time or another
Brett: hmm.."its a fantastic recipe for blowing up engines and melting exhaust valves"! im pretty sure i saw this car for sale on carsales.com.au and thats why i do my research before buying a performance car becasue more then likely it'll be cars like these owned by young idiots who've thrashed em!
thats what happens when you dont take your suby to MRT for all your mods and servicing. Brett you are a legend to all us real subaru enthusiasts! He's not gonna say it but i will, hey owner of the suby, yeah you, what were you thinking!? oh yeah thats right, you weren't! SUBARU4LIFE!!
wow I can say this but that car is prolly a nigmobile the chrome noooooo that = a total fail I own a wrx and all my black friends are like slap chrome all over that I tell "u guys don't know the first thing about jdm"
but in fairness, the last bit with the guy explaining why the exhaust is a "big no no" basically didnt have a clue what hes trying to say.
An exhaust that is straight through is good and allows the car to release gasses and pressure, but if it doesnt restrict enough you will also lose back pressure which is also bad.
@Katlunazul Yep. Chromies on a Sub are dead set wrong. Unless of course they are 20' spinnerz shod with extreme lo-pro rubber guaranteed to poke your spine through your head at the first bump...
@EthansOpinion92...., "who in thier right mind would -WHAT?!?!?!- out a subaru?!?!?! Two things for you...., actually, lets make that THREE things for you. 1) the word is "their". 2) I own a subaru that looks nothing like that. 3) I've been called a nigger by some of my closest friends and even I don't know what it is that you mean. Perhaps you should lay this special "NIGGER OPTION PACKAGE" out for me so that I may in the future meet your so high opinion of us.
@smokeewon wow over reaction to a typo and look at those rims... thats what i mean i was being ignorant a singling out a stereo type, what i mean by "nigger" is the fact that those are ghetto homeboy hood rat rims. you need to calm the hell down and not be such a bigot of your own terrible opinion!
@EthansOpinion92 I see. All the popular car mod tv shows here in the US are slapping on stupid big chrome wheels and those shows don't happen to be operated by or originate in the local of any of those groups you mentioned; nor are they selling them to those same peoples. I only see a small percentage of Chicago ghetto homeboys running those. As for me being a bigot..., lol. Look that one up again. I think anyone that puts those on a Subaru, aught to be sentenced to driving a Prius.
brett can i ask what is the best way to avoid hitting the rear drive shaft when fitting a exhaust im experiencing this problem at the moment with a 95 sti thanks
@hopson6 if your exhaust is hitting the rear driveshaft, sorry, thats a poor design and should NEVER happen. Take it back and ask for a refund or repair!
To be honest the car runs like a dream and i have had no problems with her. Passes wof everytime with no issues. I don't drive like an idiot either but I will hit 20 psi every now and again. txs russ
hi i own a 2000 (v6) sti type ra limited. My question is I am currently running 20psi boost with supporting mods. (no cat and FGK aftermarket exhaust system, link g3 ecu (specifically tuned to 98 ron) upgraded injectors, fuel pump, frount mount ic). I very rarily use the car (10000 km in 2.5 years). I have been told by many people that i will blow the engine running such high boost, do you think this also?
Hey brett do you think I could work with you because I would love to get a 2005 STI and and am going to need help tuning it because I would like it to run very very smooth and I know you know what you are talking about.
the title is HORRIBLY misleadiing. you make it sound like these are problems with the ACTUAL subaru impreza itself when almost EVERY single 'problem' you point out is in regards to the installation the guy did on his own mods, or the aftermarket mods itself. Please change the name.
great vid. shame the cars been a little bit mashed together. hope the owners sees what needs to be done. big lesson for people here is you cant cut corners when your modifying cars. i have plans for my 03wrx but i not going to jump into anything without research.
Very informative. This shows a great example of a car owner cutting corners. Maybe he did not have the time, or maybe he was impatient, maybe he did not oversee the wrench time... Either way, good information to know. When I start swapping my impreza, I will take as long as it needs to get it legit. Great videos!!
this is a great video!!! i'm glad i've never met a tard that's built a subee like that! oh man... it just reminds me of the previous owner of my subee. i got my car from the dealership with the axle back portion of an hks muffler welded directly to the stock piping (flange welded directly to the pipe... not bolted to another flange) i redid the entire system needless to say... but great vid, keep teaching
you can obviously see from the rims and parts that a stupid ricer riced this car out. i bet this car has neon lights on the inside and a hood scoop on the roof....with an even bigger wing and a sticker that says HKS exhaust when he obviously doesn't have that.
I bet you some lebo owns it, what a mess, that car is absolutely f**ked
