Excellent review, I liked all the points you brought up and the review itself was very well "layed out" , great job man. I will pick this up for sure, it looks a good bit better than Persona 1 =)
@DansGameCorner Thanks, man, I'm really glad it turned out good! I was pretty confident when I uploaded it an watched it, and was happy with the editing, I always hate giving myself credit cause it always sounds like I'm bragging, lol.
And yeah, the game is way better than Persona 1, but Persona 1 on the PSP seems to have gotten more effort made into it, what with all the new anime cutscenes and whatnot, so don't expect that from this port. Other than that, really great game!
@RapturousxPoet Hmm, that's a tough one. The gameplay is basically the same, but I think that I like the story and the characters better in this game, so yeah, I guess you could say that I like this one a tad better, lol.
They never said it's a remake, I always heard that this is just a straight port, the fact that we are getting some extras is just a bonus, anyway great review..
The rumor system is interesting and is at least some kind of likeness to the social link system even thogh P2IS came first. It is a bit boring to walk around talk to NPC1 then NPC2 etc. At least you get a better connection with the real life world than Persona 1.
I like Persona 2 for now. I agree with remake of P1 being the better remake. P2 has the deeper gameplay. The story was more enjoyable in P1, at least so far. I liked the SEBEC/Maki storyline.
I like the "shorter" dungeons so far. Shorter areas without insanity grinding and hours without storyline. Seeing monsters in schools etc feels a bit weird though with NPCs just running around.
I really hope Eternal Punishment will get a remake but depending on how much I like P2IS when I finish it I might just cave and play the PS1 version on my PSP.
Loading even as a downloaded version is pretty bad, the graphics dont bother me coming from P1. It is a 10 year old game after all.
Started playing Persona 2 a few days ago. Currently about 8 hours, level 23 and just beat the Taurus boss. The game is very easy somehow, perhaps because I am becoming a SMT vet beating P1, DDS1/2 and playing through Nocturne the last few months.
Even on Hard, the turn order and fusion spells make it easy. My other complaint is the lack of characters, so far the same 5 have been used. The recurring characters from P1 is very interesting though!
@Shintai123 Haha, nah, Nocturne's an amazing game, I just meant that it felt like it didn't really give enough story, the cutscenes were very short. But anyway, thanks, glad you liked it. :)
@swordfish1390 I think that's part of what makes Nocturne unique, alot of rpgs give alot of time dedicated to the story, since Nocturne doesn't, alot of the story is shrouded in mystery and you need to put the pieces together yourself. Anyways, good review, I need to get a PSP tho, lol.
@Shintai123 About 15 hours into SMT III Nocturne. It is an interesting game for sure but I had to lay it down for a while. The insane dungeon crawling was a bit too much after beasting through DDS 1/2. The number of abilities and losing them sucks, especially if you come from DDS.
I liked the story though with main character being half-demon. I will continue on probably early next year after I finish Xenoblade and Skyward Sword.
