  • mmm tasty tasty deer.

  • Yo Rob, like the show man, keep it coming. New Jersey USA

  • I just thought I'd ask what your views on churnalism and the Isreali-Palestinian crisis? it reminds me of the south africa apartheid but it seems it gets little opinionated/journalistic press in this country.

  • So, 'snipers' are the ones shooting the deer...

The bloody lying Forestry Commission put up posters around here saying 'deer cull in progress' when they should be saying 'deer asassination today' or 'we're taking the bastards out today'.

  • mabey its starbug

  • you have something in your left nostril sir. Having siad that im a big fan :)

  • I'm not particularly fond of the media, so I don't often read, listen or watch the news. I can't say I really miss out on a lot though.

  • Snazzy glasses. Specsavers?

  • Excellent, thought provoking comments. Thanks, Bobby.

Even the 'Grauniad' is pretty poor these days. I believe there is still one print magazine that still does a good (though sometimes flawed) job. I subscribe to Private Eye, which breaks so many important stories that the rest of the mainstream press chooses to be blind to. Private Eye is, of course, also really funny. This is just as well, 'cos most of what it reports is really, really depressing.

  • Hello Robert.

First thing first, I watch Carpool on Dave and love the refreashing and revealing informality it brings to the chat show.

Second, I have never been all that much of a political soul, but these days the ConDems have got me red faced and ranting like my ultra left wing brother Jack. Embarassing when my sons catch me yelling at the TV.

Third and last. I gave up reading newspapers a long time ago. Media courses do help reveal the tricks of the trade, everyone should go on one. : )

  • The stories the papers consider to have have 'legs' are so annoying, they repeat the same information over and over with one tiny snippet of new stuff.. copy and paste.. type a bit of new.. copy and paste.. it drives me bonkers...

Hope you enjoyed your holiday in OZ btw.. I was so jealous.

  • Thank you for putting this on you tube, I think I will start checking blogs rather than the news. You get more info in papers too but I don't think you get the right info. I am in Canada and don't know of any blogs, do you know any Canadian blogs I should check out? BTW, I love Red Dwarf and Car Pool. :-)

  • Irrelevant comment= image stabilisation is weird

  • Excellently said about journalism ..

  • Le because he failed to adequately cut and paste his client

  • So you have also met Gillian mc Keith ,her brother dr Conrad is also in troub

  • it's so true Robert, we really dont get the time or resources to do investigative journalism anymore. It seems the trade secret is rewrite the top line of a press release and copy+paste the rest.Quick and easy way to churn out 5 articles a day.

Ha and people wonder why there is more money in PR!

I remember informing the editor of a paper that published articles on a 'Miracle' product by someone I knew falsely claiming to be a Doctor. The response was one of "lalala" fingers in ears...

  • Forget the deerhunter format what about deliverance where bob and his carpool mates are hunted in a dense wood by folks who have had their comments removed because they didn't fit his canoe

  • I don't know if you take 'requests' as such, but you know how recently Joanna Yeates from Bristol went missing? There's been loads of coverage on it, but my Dad says that a black girl went missing on the same day as her, but no-one knows about it. These cases aren't exactly common, but they're not uncommon. Do you think that's our society? There's no media coverage for a black girl but a white middle class woman goes missing and suddenly it swarms the papers?

    Kinda went ranty there, sorry!

  • Fantastic channel. I'll be a regular viewer.

I tend to watch cartoons & animations on TV. They speak far more truth to me but I agree these days YouTube is the best place to get the real truth.

Despite all the truthes people learn the goverment still control us. This country needs a true goverment who truely work. Racism is getting rediculous, poloticians are just out to line their pockets & hold the public to ransom for their mistakes. If only our country benefitted from the taxes we pay!

  • I must admit I find this a little bit boring. I have lots of thoughts but keep them in my head

Do you have a family Bobby? And what do they think of you making You Tube videos all the time?

Do you think the deer is ok?

    - 'spose I should have kept these thoughts inside my head.... Catching isn't it?

    I might try Twitter...

  • @bertiebasset123 Awww. Bobby is trying new ways to make videos and is letting us into his life in a wau most stars dont. I find his taking us out on a walk with his dog fascinating and much like car pool has just gone on to be a full sized TV show, maybe personality led, editoed and produced material which cuts out all the politics of middle men is the future... so give him slack or kill him (thats Church of the Subgenius rules BTW)

  • @truthseekers666 Im just waiting for the new series "Dogging Pool", where various stars take turns to dog whilst Bobby chats about treading the boards and the quality of cocaine they ship into the BBC. Hehe...

  • @truthseekers666 If you believe in that kinda stuff, you should search.." ALIEN STALKS MAN IN PARK - LONDON - UK"

  • @bertiebasset123 i just did. wow wish you had warned me, i need new underpants and swivel chair now ;-)

  • You like pilger + I like pilger = I like you ;o)

  • Once the technological foundations have been laid and the means to produce and distribute videos has been made easy, as they now have, I doubt the corporations will have as much of a stranglehold as they would like or as they ever did again. Even if sites such as YT go that way, others will pop up with a different, more user generated content friendly structure.

  • Perhaps it's time to stop scratching our heads and bitching about this, and consider a more insidious intent.BTW- For you English who want to watch a riveting, authentic, and accurate portrayal of America in the late 60's, please watch, "The Deer Hunter" w/ Robert Deniro.Pathos galore!

  • @stardead456 I hope he doesnt walk off a cliff whilst using his iphone-Phwoar trying to warn us about the perils of tv and cliiiiiiiiffffffs.

  • Speaking who has seen the worst sides of how TV is produced with bad research and biases I can agree that TV is not the great source of properly factual information people think it is. People should treat every word and image they see on TV like a man offering you a Red pill with a gun at your head! Thats why I got rid of my TV in 1998 and now I download everything. Media is only as reliable as the person who researches it, shoots it, edits it and then censors it. Usually thats not very reliable

  • Tony B was ok as PM. The current ones are ass****s.

So Rob. I know you get asked this like a million times. But just to confirm 'cause i heard rumors. Is they or not a new erpisode or series of Red Dwarf?

  • Oh dear started off quite well then lapsed into self promotion overdrive.Even daisy was looking out for an exit .!Still at least those with sleeping bags are safe now you are out of London .

  • Always a pleasure. I haven't taken much notice of main-stream news media for quite a few years now. I'd only look at a newspaper to check the date or do the cross-word puzzles.

  • I've taken to putting little typos and mistakes in some press releases just to see what happens. Sadly there are many newspaper articles out there with typos and mistakes in...

  • I don't take the popular press seriously. I find these turned over stories to be pure crap. Not only do they not check their facts, they don't even bother checking the spelling and grammar of their "work"! Hackney.

  • You'd be surprised, mate. Some of the top Youtubers in the States earn over six figures a year, just from views, and are able to give up their day jobs and just use their money from youtube to support their families, etc. Terribly interesting stuff!

  • Robert, when are you going to run for government? I'd certainly vote for you. Though perhaps you wouldn't for the same reason HRH Stephen Fry said in his episode of Carpool.

  • Robert's left-handed? The things you learn on the internet..

  • @AidanMatthewable I'm right handed, you see, you can't believe anything you see on the internet. It's to do with holding the iPhone and not covering the lens with your hands.

  • I love that the announcer voice was Kryten. :)

  • NE Derbyshire, deer have been spreading here like wildfire. Loads of deer signs on the roads are even being put up now.

  • what about news websites like bbc news and itn, are these realible, i've always assumed the bbc news site is very realible, they dnt report rumours they tend to report facts,

  • @niknarnevets I would like to believe that the BBC is reliable and honourable but sadly the facts point to the same thing, they churn out PR releases due to the fact that they are under such absurd time pressures to 'get the news out first. The book I was referring to 'Flat Earth News' saves particular criticism for the BBC news output, very depressing.

  • @bobbyllew so is there anywhere that you can get realible facts quickly if not newspapers or news sites, maybe Twitter? i've found blogs tend to refrence reports made by the bbc or newspapers, would you agree bbc news is more realible than sky news, ?

  • @bobbyllew A great book and you really are right in it being one hell of a downer, it took a couple of months for me to read it because I got so depressed about how often we're lied to and deceived by lazy or rushed journalists, when i finally finished it had to read some Carl Sagan to make me feel better about the world.

  • odd, last night i drempt that kryten from carpool died. good to see you didn't

  • Freedom shall prevail, unlike the physical world, the internet once unleashed can never be controlled. Governments can not enforce the internet because frankly hackers who know how important internet freedom is outnumber them a thousand to one and many Internet Service Providers are still helpless when hackers war it out and take control of everything. Both black and White hat hackers will unite once their playgrounds are threatened.

You have a very steady hand :)

    greetz

  • I'd rather watch 'bollocks' posted by 'mugs' any day. :)

  • journeyman pictures hosts real journalist stories. check them out, they got some very fascinating stuff on there. :) nice job rob!!

  • The newspapers are making huge profits? I thought the quality ones at least all ran at a loss, usually millions a year, and they fire loads of journalists to try to keep afloat (and plenty in america have folded because they couldn't manage it). The Independent for example would have gone under if it hadn't been bought by Lebedev for £1 as a vanity project.

  • @guyreeves

yes, the governments are making huge profits.

  • this has to be one of the few videos on you-tube without a single dislike. very pleasant :P

gonna go read have a look-see at that blog now,,,

  • you know what would be funny rob would be if you were dressed as Kryten walking your dog lol would be well funny! lol

  • love the vids, keep em coming! Also, where can i get audio books from?

  • @floppydodo I use audible.co.uk.

  • @bobbyllew thankyou, il check it out

  • You should include the link to your log in all your video descriptions. Especially as it makes it much easier to get to, without pausing the video and writing it down - come on this is the age of the electronic battery operated book after all.

  • Research about net neutrality if you want to know more about the corporations plans for internet providing :( a bleak and unwanted future. Obama said he would do everything in his power to keep it but ofcourse he let the FCC's half baked net neutrality plans through... And as always what happens in america trickles over the water to us in england.

  • Wow, they have all the best people on Celebrity Mastermind - even Mrs Rab C. Nesbitt! Good effort, Rob. And I read Flat Earth News - great book but as you say, a bit depressing.

  • Mr Llewellyn,

You're doing rather well on a subscriber count of more than 11k, and your videos normally get on average about 5k views. But I notice your previous video, posted on 23rd, has more than 69 thousand views. Why the sudden influx!?

I thought I had the solution, that being include the word "wet" in the title, but then I reaslised I was being a prat! Maybe it was "nethers" in the info bar?

Glad to see you still around, always watch etc :) Fanboy moment over. Have a good new year.

  • 2) Ps - You read *and* replied to the comment about you looking prettier as you get older, so if you don't read and reply to mine it means you're all vain and preening and I shall tell everyone you don't really care about your fans so there :D

Pps - Your videos is just PR from you because you want us to believe your propaganda etc !

Ppps - I jest! I shall read your recommendation and find the blog. Cheers.

  • @Widgetas It got featured if i recall correctly

  • @rookie4619 Ah I wondered.

  • @Widgetas so you found the great Bobbylew too Widgetas... good to see some familar faces

  • @steelhamster Damn right. Been stalking for a long time :D And leaving fan boy messages once in a while (I'm ashamed!)

  • I always trust a man that talks to his dog :D Its a sad affair the media, its become a circus. What do you think of the Wikileaks rob ???

  • We allready had paid for internet it was called dial up! those days are dead just like the interent will die if it becomes pay per MB! I dont think it will come to it the corps at the moment make so much money from the internet nowdays anyway, that making people pay for the priviledge of using there online shops will just start taking the piss i think. I say we need to scrap everything in this country and start again by going completly green, yes i mean vechiels, goverment etc its not working!

  • I actually didn't know you had a blog until now. I shall go off now to read it.

Could you put the link in the description? It just makes it easier for people to get to it. : )

  • Utuber AngryAussie uses a monopod when walking around so his arms don't get tired, you can always steal his idea.

  • @DottyDotDitto I was about to mention AA and you got in before me.

  • @Arthur40TwoDent Haha, I recognise your username, you're one of AA's regulars. It's a small internet after all! :P

  • I can't quite remember which comedian said it but it was mentioned that tabloid newspapers like ''The Sun'' and ''The News of The World'' are the only newspapers that you can wipe your arse on and more shit will will come off what is written inside.

  • Very well said. I'm getting more and more depressed with the way the media is throttling the facts. Read Blind Faith by Ben Elton for a horrific glimpse of things to come if we let it carry on.

Is there anywhere that aggregates proper journalistic blogs so we can get some proper news?

  • Paying by the megabyte will never be accepted. I know it's done with certain usb modems but if that becomes the norm, heads will roll.

  • Equally depressing Robert was the documentary on Channel 4 before Christmas, "The War You Won't See" which explained how all journalists tow the government line in order to gain exclusive access for interviews and junkets etc. Lazy journalism, in particular from the BBC, failed to show the ample proof of Iraq's lack of WOMDs, and hence convince Joe Public that we were justified in starting the pointless war(s) that have continued ever since. Great video by the way and Happy New Year.

  • This is kind of like spending time with my Dad. Whenever he gets on to topics like politics and corporations, there's a thin line between ranting and rationale, but he's very entertaining to watch either way.

  • Have you noticed they've started to use commas instead of, usually, the word 'and' in news headlines? It's really annoying.

  • Downloading this, becasue no doubt some nuffie will label it 'hate speech.'

  • @BinaryBunyip

I'm a little confused. What in this video could remotely been seen as hate speech?

  • @Textra1

Some say, there will be a time in which - even stating that a political item is corrupted, it will be called hate speech & banned. Apparently it's already happening.

  • You may be aware, that in the USA, they recently passed laws so that net neutrality is now a thing of the past. Internet providers can theoretically make the internet a two tier system, speeding up your connection to sites they 'approve of' and slowing down the ones they don't.

  • @steelhamster This is a sad thing indeed. It's the beginning of cable-tv like payment schemes from ISPs. For End-Users: $50 per Month - get sites a,b,c & d $75 per Month - get sites a,b,c,d,e,f & g $100 per Month - get sites a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i & j For Site Owners: $0 per Month - Minimum Priority Routing (Ever heard of dial-up?!) $1500 per Month - Medium Priority Routing $4500 per Month - High Priority Routing $6000 per Month - Premium Priority Routing
  • Thanks Robert.

Totally off topic - even though I am a hetro fellow, I think you are better looking now for your age then you were when you were younger (say during your Red Dwarf aged period). You were at least pleasant looking before (imo). But now (especially when you are shaven) I think you are a well above average looking man for your age.

No idea why I typed that - it just occured to me.

If you have been - thanks for reading.

    Chris

  • @McRocket Well, I can't help being mildly flattered, even as a hetero male, I accept your comments very kindly.

  • @bobbyllew awwww at the bromance thats developing ;)

  • @bobbyllew And thank you for correcting his misspelling, Robert. :)

  • @McRocket Admit it you want to bum him.

  • Great video as always Rob. There seems to be this thing where journalists know they're coming up with whatever stories they can muster (frozen Britain anyone) and the public knows to take most news with a pinch of salt. However, even though the journalists know it and we know it, we just let it carry on. The amount of people I know who say they'd like a more rounded news report is astounding! What do you think?

  • Saw you on Mastermind, Bobby!

I'm sure it was fixed for Buerk to win.. I'm damn sure of it.
