I also had the display show: "No antenna detected." I use mine in a semi. Lots of jarring...and docking/un-docking. Now I know, what a piece of JUNK this really is. I have NOT called Sirius yet...I have heard BAD stories from their customer service. Oh well.... I wedged a paper-clip on the lower right side, between the dock, and player. It seems to help keep the signal...and better. I would NOT recommend this unit to ANYONE!
Your best having a hardwired auxiliary connection installed. A number of companies manufacture factory authorized auxiliary input modules for factory car stereos of many different brands and model numbers. Otherwise go for an aftermarket stereo with satellite radio functionality built in.
I have an xpress rci xm receiver. I was great for the first year and a half, then the screen went black and it died. Every xm reciever I have ever had lasted less than 2 years. And they are not cheap.
I have one of the old Sirius Streamers which I've had for about 7 years. At the time it was the only radio you could buy for Sirius. I've gone through a couple of antenna's but the radio always worked great up until the past couple of days. I think it's finally showing its age and starting to go. It may be bigger and bulkier but it was reliable for all of these years, kinda sad really. Anyways I think I'm going to have to get a new radio soon now but not sure which one to get.
Those built in FM microtransmitters are always crap. Not only are they cheaply built and underpowered, every time you go about 100 miles, a local radio station from the area you are in or near overpowers the built in microtransmitter. Whats worse, the now unused frequencies of 87.7 (was analog TV channel 6) and 87.9 MHz FM are off limits to those damn things! I prefer one of those cassette adapters due to their superior practicality and reliability with older car radios.
why are you using the FM radio? it just sounds lijke signal interference to me, what i would suggest is getting an aux-in kit, look for FRDR-aux kits, best things in the world/
pretty sad excuse for quality equipment my sportster is doing this as well ,phoned sirius they dont believe this is faulty equipment and want me to buy a new one for 100 dollars i guess the three hundred dollar subscription isnt enough cost for the year ,my unit is just over a year old ,what is another sat radio option i think its time to change ,when i jammed some paper under the knob side it seem to work for a little bit ,pretty expensive ureliable radio sirius u suck
its sounds like a dock issue buy a whole new car kit. one question there is a small plastic sleeve that was sapose to go on the back of that dock that had 2 small rails for the radio to slide onto did you put that on or throw it away like most ppl. also try cleaning or air dusting the bottom of the radio. dust can get in and on dock and cause connection issues hope this helps
Update, Sirius still wont do anything, i installed a new fm modulator and to solve the antenna problem I put a zip tie around the top of the receiver and around the base to keep it from rattling and losing its connection. Works like a charm and I don't have to buy a new receiver. FU Sirius I dont have to buy a new reciever and transfer everything. Looks like I'll get a few more years out of this one. Thanks for your bad customer service!
