Stop being so mean, Bert. He's trying to plan so he won't disturb YOU. So just shut 'ya face and let him do his stuff. He's thinking of YOU, 'ya know....
If Frank didnt work well with other muppeters thats too bad, but at the same time it doesnt surprise me a whole lot. Im sure working with steve was a big switch for frank to do since he did so much with Jim. I would think the only muppeter frank worked well with would had to have been Jerry. Frank and him had almost as much time together as Jim so id be really shocked if they didnt work well. Now that i think about it, he must hav cause there were a whole lot of Frank/Jerry sketches in the '90s
This reminds of one of my house mates at Uni who could NEVER SHUT THE FUCK UP! , and how I suffered so much sleep deprivation because of him. He used to drop things on his laminate floor to disturb me the bastard! Poor Bert he should shoot Ernie lol
First off, do you really think that anyone would be aloud to own a gun living in Sesame? LOL Bert's too lame to take any kind of extreme action other than yelling. Well I guess that's not 100% true. In 1986, Ernie went to the Toy fix-it-shop with the Miami Mice (Kevin Clash and Marty Robinson) and he almost explained that Bert ripped out the squeaker on Rubber Duckie because Ernie was pestering him! FUNNY FUNNY STUFF! Sesame Workshop can learn a thing or too just for watching the Classic stuff.
Not bad for a post-Jim Henson Ernie and Bert clip. I say this because it is something that I can picture happening back in the day. Most of the bed time sketches featuring Steve are instantly forgettable ones (like Ernie obsessing over his toes) that Jim would never have stooped to. But this is one he would probably approve.
Why did Ernie turn the fan on right away without waiting to make sure it was too hot?
Oh yeah, I don't blame him. I blame political correctness. Plus, I sometimes feel sorry for Steve in that most of the characters he performs are ones he took over from Jim Henson or Richard Hunt. Off hand, the only characters that were his from the beginning I can think of are Rizzo the Rat, Wembley Fraggle, Sprocket the Dog, and Lips. Which is a shame because he definitely has talent.
I'm surprised Bert is so grouchy over this; if I were him, I'd be relieved that my sleep wouldn't be disturbed over Ernie being thirsty or bored... or so I thought, at least, until the very last 10 seconds. :Þ
I'm surprised that Ernie didn't bring a plate or box of cookies to bed with him because I know that he occasionally loves to munch on cookies ... Well, at least he did in the Jim Henson days. *Sigh*
Bert did say in one skit that he is going to move out. It was the skit where he was going to buy groceries for the apartment. The reason he said that he is going to move out was because, he was trying to talk to Ernie but, Ernie was not listening while Bert was standing outside the apartment room, then Ernie closed the door and Bert said out loud to himself "I'm going to move out."
Maybe in the past with the skit where Jim Henson performed Ernie and with Ernie eating cookies in bed was probably encouraging young kids to do that which is why Ernie didn't bring cookies to bed with him.
I remember that skit from the late sixties or early seventies. You have offered a very interesting idea about why they did not include that in this one! Very insiteful!
Thank you. I remember in that skit Bert told Ernie that if he eats cookies in bed there will be crumbs getting in his bed sheets and the crumbs will get in his pajamas which will make him itch and he won't be able to go to sleep. However, Bert should have also said that if there are crumbs in Ernie's bed and on him, it will make bugs come to crawl on his bed and on him. Maybe young kids in the past were eating cookies in bed because of Ernie, and the parents complained to PBS about it.
Thank you. I do remember when I was very young, before I went to bed, I decided to hold onto a bread stick while I slept in case I got hungry in the night. Unfortunately, the bread stick broke into a lot of crumbs and in the morning, there were a few ants and cockroaches in my bed. I guess that could have happened to Ernie too with cookie crumbs in his bed.
Yes it was scary to have some ants and cockroaches in my bed. I also hope Ernie didn't get any bugs in his bed. If he did, it would probably be only a little since because he only ate one cookie in bed before Bert told him not too but, Bert would have more bugs in his bed since Ernie climbed into Bert's bed to finish eating his cookies in Bert's bed where Bert's bed would have more crumbs than Ernie's bed.
Given how close together your posts are, I can imagine you having to type a lot of words in italics in order to submit them! Believe me, I know how much of a pain this can be!
No you did not do anything wrong. I was simply writing from my own experiences that, when you post a lot of messages close together, the system makes you write out combinations of letters that appear on the screen and that are written in italics. This is to keep any one person from monopolizing the board. Given how many messages you tend to post in short periods of time, I would imagine that you have had to go through this quite a bit!
I heard that Frank Oz didn't really like working with the other Muppeteers too much. Frank worked well with Jim. But ever since Jim's passing,Frank wanted to perform solo a lot. I heard that he really didn't like performing with Steve Whitmire. And once when Carol Spinney was Cookie Monsters' right hand and Frank was the head and left hand. Frank had Cookie's left hand hold his right hand down on the typical platform with a strong grip so Carol couldn't perform much. Frank quit around 1999ish.
I heard that Frank doesn't really like working with Steve Whitmire probably because he toke over Jim's characters and I don't think that Frank agrees 100% with Jim's wish for his creations to continue without him.
I'm not sure if Frank ever meet Eric Jacobson. Eric is okay, he can do most if not all of Franks characters pretty well. But Frank always had a deadpan sense of humor within his characters that seemed so real. Esspecially when he performed Cookie Monster in the 1980s.
Frank has met Eric once. There was a sketch where Ernie sings about breakfest to Bert(Frank Oz), and we see a bannana(David Rudman), some eggs and toast(Eric Jacobson), and oatmeal(unknown) singing.
Really. Well I bet that Frank didn't say much. I know that before Kevin Clash performed Animal for the Sandra Bullock episode of Muppets Tonight. Frank quickly said "Okay, I just want to tell you about Animal's character. Simply this. Sex, Food, Drums, Pain, and Sleep". LOL
Eric Jacobson is.........okay. Just okay. He doesn't have the deadpan sense of Humor that Frank has.
Eric Jacobson almost has it, but there's still something missing. You know. See the classic footage of Frank & Notice
If you want to see the sketch, you can see it on the Sesame Street Video Player. In the search box, type "lunch", click on Merphy Brownbag, and in the related videos, click "Breakfest is the Best Meal". After lisening to it, I know that Fran Brill preformed the oatmeal.
As for Frank not likeing the other preformers, that was just something you heard. He likes preforming with the others, and has recently taped sketches for season 40 of Sesame Street.
Yeah. Well, I didn't mean that he hated working with the other guys. They all get alone very well. The stories that I might have heard must of been in the early 1990s, after Jim's death. Jim meant a lot to all his employies. Esspecially Frank. Jim and Frank were like Best Friends and it was hard for Frank to get over his death so I think that he felt that he needed to take some time off around that time. Explains why he wasn't himself for a little bit. Totally understandable.
(deep breath; long sigh) no. Again, I don't want to argue with you! Like any death, it's hard to deal with and what I was saying was it was hard for Frank to move on and continue The Muppets without him. It was hard on everyone who worked with him.
Now again, I'm not trying to argue with you or sound rude. I'm sorry if I did to you. All I'm doing is posting my opinions and comments. That's all, not looking for a fight. That's all.
I am not argueing with you, but I think Frank has got used to Jim not being there. Think about it, he's sitll doing sketches for Sesame Street, and he's doing Bert alongsite Steve's Ernie.
Are you say that Frank Oz does not work with "Sesame Street" at all anymore? I read the most recent book about "Sesame Street" but I do not remember that being mentioned. If I do not get an answer from you, I will probably look it up on the Internet.
