It's fine by me that he made his own solos and is covering a song doing that. But the fact that he replicated stevie's guitar too with the relicing, and stickers is just over the top. There's other videos of him dressing like stevie did with the guitar. At least now he isn't obsessed anymore (in his newer videos).
you have natural talent. so dont listen to those nasty comments from people who dont know you or even know how to play. you dont see their video on you tube. trey has earned everything he has and nothing has ever been just givin to him. you rock Trey and we're all so proud of you!!!!!
u have got scuttle buttin down to a fuckin tee my friend. Much love from London, England!!!! Long live the blues!!!!! Fuck the electronic pop bollocks of today. The recession is what we need, an economic volcano so we can all start from scratch, including music
Everybodies cappin on this kid saying he needs to find his own style and then they say he's playing this song wrong. If that's the way HE plays it how can it be wrong?? He's playing it as Trey Tosh plays it.
Not bad given your age, but do a search here on YouTube (or go to my page) and watch the clip: 'Scuttle Buttin' - The Brian Johnson Band'. That's how it's done!
people are right. he tries to immitate way too much. but nevertheless, even if he isn't playing it note for note, it is still worthy for playing live like that.
if i give any advice, i'd say move up to a thicker gauge of strings.
here is a fuckwit of a kid with a big ego.not scared of crowds obviously.daddy made him copy stevie in every way possible and beat him if he didnt. made him learn every lick that stevie has done. made him copy the facial expressions and the guitar.
attempted to make his son copy stevie's voice which he couldnt do.
now this kid is trying to talk to the crowd like he is stevie or hes some kind of blues legend when really hes just a poser.
Ya i totaly agree with you man. To me, this guy sucks. Not guitar playing wise but musician wise. Sure he can play everything SRV could, but then what? One day this poser is gonna fall on his ass and fail. That willbe the day.
Who cares if he is copying SRV, or trying to be like him, SRV was great yes, but this kid is too, and he's still really young, tons of time to write his own shit, im sure he will, but only when he wants to. Great job.
You try to sound and play like Stevie. Good job! I thought you rocked, no matter what. If thats what makes you happy while jamming, then keep it up, cause I thought it was cool...
Excellent... peoplew with talent at your age are normally sitting at home playing.. its good to get out gigging. Means you will be miles better than the people who just sit and shred at home. I have learnt so much certainly from gigging. More than you can learn from sweep picking exercises anyway!
To Shogun777: Sure, coming up with your own style is great, but, you have to, first, respect an artist and then be influenced by them. The nice thing about YouTube is that when you see someone playing Stevie's stuff, you become more confident that you can do it yourself and have fun at it while becoming a better guitarist! This posting helps keep Stevie's memory alive. Take your hate brigade somewhere else and keep your bitter comments to yourself.
I think you're very good tecnicly....but you are copying Srv's style...i am olso a big fan of him...but i am improvising...do that to...and i agree with bluesman4613
Good job with the song, but find your own voice. You can have a style like SRv but don't try and be him. Find your own guitar face, play with real emotion, and get your own image, no SRV's. When SRV was growing up he didn't pose as Albert King or Henry Collins. He learned their songs and improved off of them, along with jamming with other people. Remeber, just b/c you can play their songs doesn't mean your them, you need to write original material, not just SRV covers. RIP SRV.
i appreciate that he tries to emulate stevie, i do, and just about every other electric blues guitarist does. BUT, it always sort of annoys me to see people playing stevies songs like note for note. stevie had some big influences, but he didn't dedicate his musical life to straight up copying them. this kid's got some definite skill, and it'd be a shame for him to try to 'become' stevie
that sure as hell wasnt note for note, i think it was better. I agree you do get tired of hearing everyone playing the songs exactly the same way all the time, but if you listen... that definately had some nice impro in it
great job trey! love ya!!!

Trey was 13 or 14 in this video. As much as I loved SRV, Stevie was still wearing clothes that looked a lot like Jimi's into his late 20's.
