  • What brand and color did you use and what else did you add to get your results

  • how long would you keep the henna in your hair for before you watch it out ?

  • Strange is GOOD!!! Thanks for sharing =) Excellent videos!

  • I got some BAQ henna too from the same site and really like the result. Much better than the one i got from Whole Food. It's a really helpful site as well. It's really hard to put henna on the back. It's easier if you ask someone to help you. I ended up having my boyfriend put it on for me

Thank you for doing these videos. It's really helpful to those who are new to henna.

  • what if u apply indigo too would it be brown?

  • Indigo + henna = brown. Henna only followed by indigo only = black. Mixing the two would be brown, though, yes. :)

  • Thank you for the answer & the useful video too, its a good source for who is looking for practical info.. I guess ur hair's been even longer & healthier by now

  • @bekajoi

I bought a dye labeled "Black" that contains both henna and indigo in one powder. So you think this won't work? I don't want to test it because I don't want to spend hours and get a brown result when I want black.

  • It might go brown and if you did an indigo over the top it would for sure go black. It would be a deep brown though, if indigo content is high. Can't hurt to try, just know you may need to go over the top with more indigo on its own.

  • Thanks!

Guess I'm going to test it but order some pure indigo aforehand, to be on the safe side. My first try with natural dyes. : )

  • ok thanks and veery veery good video

  • thank you

  • i was reading the website and i found the answer i was looking for... i was wondering if you used "easy auburn" or did you use another mix?

  • I just did the Yemen henna with lemon juice and things added for smell. :)

  • Hello,

Henna looks so interesting to do.. I have dark brown hair with a hint of red in the sun and its down to my butt.. i was wondering how much henna i should use to get you color?

  • The henna for hair website says 500 grams for waist length hair, so I would get at least that much! :)

  • Hello,

Thank you so much for your help. I will give it a try for sure.

    Best regards,

  • Hello,

What is the origin color of your hair? Is it dark brown? I used henna as you did it. I used the mixture of lemon juice, white vinegar, paprika but it did not give me deep red color. I am wondering if the henna was good or not. My hair color is dark brown but it did not become red at all.

    I appreciate your help.

  • My hair was a medium ash brown. How long did you allow the henna to sit before using it? How long did you leave it in? Where did you get the henna? All these things can have something to do with the result.

  • Hello,

At first, thank you so much for answering me.

Henna was sat for about 12 hours from 9 pm until 9am and I leave it in my hair for four hours and I have been using henna for seven years and I had some henna from last year which is come from Iran. I was surprised when I saw your video because during these years my henna never gave me that red colour. I have some shadow of red colour in my hair. Do you think type of my henna is not good?

    Best regards,

  • It sounds like it was compound henna. Henna with extra things mixed in. This can have a different result than 100% henna can. Body art quality is what you are wanting, to achieve the color I got.

mehandi is where I got mine from. Look up henna for hair, the website, and you can follow the link through there.

    Best of luck!

  • @chataraincanada Me too! Please, help :)

  • Thank you. Your are so lovely of posting this up.^_^

  • Any tips on getting a nice dark rich brown color? I have medium brown hair, and it always gets this red orangy hue to it, I noticed you mentioned in previous videos, adding certain teas to help the color become richer, not sure if it was for the smell though. Any advice? Looks awesome! I have done it before, years ago, but never added any teas! Or lemon, cuz I thought it might lighten when I want to darken!

  • If you want BROWN rather than red, you may need to use amala as an additive to tame the red(can be purchased from mehandi . com along with the henna itself), and you may want to buy some indigo to add in. A little indigo goes a long way, though. Check out the pre-mixed pages where they have it all boxed up for you and you might see one you like there. :)

  • what would you recommend for black hair..i dyed my hair a blue black(which i love) and i want to try something healthier for my hair but keep with the color!

  • Do an application of henna first, then do an application of indigo OVER it. If you look at the hennaforhair site, they will show the difference when you are working with indigo alone and henna then indigo. You get a blue black color with the two, but the black fades faster without the henna under it as back up.

Read up there, they would know more on the indigo than I do. :)

  • ok thanks!

  • oh another tip....if u smear on vaseline all around the perimeter of ur hair....it woun't stain your skin....especially the ears....that was a problem spot for me...mom told me to use the vaseline...happy hair dyeing....

  • :) I did use vaseline, I just didn't use enough I guess. It's been YEARS since I'd colored my hair, LOL, so I'm a bit out of practice. ;)

  • do u do the rolling technique? i read about it somewhere and it really helped when i had hip length hair...u just put it on like u did...rub the henna in then u twist it and coil the hair princess lea style....u end up with lots of little coils...and the henna glues it together....less messy and less painful on the arms too...and ALSO LESS PAINFUL if ur gonna sleep on it...but i loved ur videos...

  • I'll have to try coiling it next time, I just piled it up there, lol. I bet that would make it seem less heavy on the head too. I just wonder how it would work, comparatively, as you wash it out. Hmmm...

  • it was easier to wash out actually, less dried tangles...good luck...

  • I can't make mine say those sounds.. :P

  • I've just applied henna to my hair and have plastic on my head right now. It is my first DIY, I used to go to the Indian salon for henna. My hair is shorter and I was wondering how to do it for longer hair. Now I know how, thanks for the video.

  • How long you leave it on depends on your starting hair color and desired shade. If you have light hair and don't want it REALLY red, don't leave on for too long (1-2 hours). If you have dark hair, leave on longer, even if you just want tint.

I left mine on for 8-9 hours, to go from medium brown to a deep auburn.
