I love this song. I can remember dancing with different boyfriends when I was a young woman, I was a real flirt...so this brings back many happy memories. What a wonderful time we had in the 60's.......Beehive hairstyles, stiletto heels and short skirts, no drugs for me and my friend just a great time with friends
one of the best ever -all who love are blind -when your heart's on fire - laughing friends deride the tears I can't hide - smoke gets in your eyes - Thanks, Dj
Tony Williams and the Platters take me back in time to a simpler time. My sis and I used to dance to this album, then when we heard my mother's car coming up the drive way, we'd stop and start cleaning up the house.
i love this song eventhough im young...if im listening to this song, i feel sleepy and i dont wnt to wqke anymore...hahahahha i feel im in the sky.....
A favorite song of my mothers. I can still picture her setting down the iron to reach over & turn up the radio when this song came on. It's still a beautiful song & brings back lovely memories.
Wow listen to the lyrics that go with the music......I love when at around 1:15 it changes and the instruments reflect his response to those who are questioning him. He sounds defiant as does the music and then it changes yet again when he sings i'am without my love.....they don't make songs like this anymore.
Armee 5000 what it means is that sometimes your vision is clouded, not by smoke, but by expections of what you may or may not want. That is how I interpret it.
@Armee5000 "When your heart's on fire"......"smoke gets in your eyes"......then..."I am WITHOUT my love" ....."Tears I cannot hide"......So I smile and say, "when a lovely FLAME dies, SMOKE GETS IN MY EYES." Listen carefully to the words...I think you'll understand. It's a beautiful song with a lot of meaning. Good luck to you Armee5000! ;-)
@Grandrose3 How young are you? I am 58y/o w/m. The Platters engulfted my life and I am a skinny assed white bioy.. I want to find LPs made by them, I am old school.
@MrBobbyg01 Well, I'm 71 yrs. "young" and I gave all of my old LPs to my 48 and 51 year old sons. I have loved the Platters since l956! Hope you find the music you are looking for! God bless....
@sofrito34 I 'm a white skin person and I like them so much, their quality is huge and also their songs. It doesn't matter the color of the skin, what it matters is that they have talent and we have to cherish and recognize.I admire many other dark skin artists like Louis Armstrong,Marvin Gay,Ray Charles. I admire good artists and not color of the skin.
It almost makes a person sick to listen to something as beautiful and smooth as this, and then turn on a radio and hear Ke$ha slurring and yelling and auto tuning at you.
Tony Williams was a great singer...too bad that he didn't get the support from Buck Ram when he went solo. The Original Platters with Tony were nothing short of great!
Is it just me or does the singer Tony Williams seem like a former criminal?
