  • The environments and color palette are very similar to Dead Space, and it was set in space too.

This could have been a very unique and atmospheric sci-fi stealth action game, which we didn't see very often back then, but instead... Digital Extremes fucked it up extremely well.

  • Someone needs to make this game. If not Digital Extremes, then someone else. The gameplay could be more like Deus Ex: Human Revolution's augmentations crossed with Arkham Asylum style predatory stealth.

  • I remember when I first saw this trailer during that E3 many many moons ago...it looked promising...although looking at it now...the animation seems a bit dated and clunky...it still holds up...with PC power nowadays...developers should keep an idea on this game's original design for a future AAA release...

  • This looks amazing!

  • is this version avalable to buy or somthin. i haave the new one but i want the older one so i can understand more on what actually happend..... did this one even become available.or was this just a sneek peek and it just turned toa next gen game?

  • This could have been the perfect blend between deadspace, MGS and splinter cell. x50. Damn you!!!

  • In some alternate universe this game was released instead of the shitty gears of war clone that it turned out to be. Gaming is probably in some sort of creative intellectual renaissance because of this messianic game.

All we got was some stupid fucking piece of shit gimmick called a glaive

  • What Dark Sector SHOULD have been. Why did they go around and change it like that? What was their logic behind it? Did they even use logic?

  • Old version was cool mix of Metal Gear Solid and Splinter Cell meets Doom. It really pissed me off to see what they did to make the game more "relevant" to today's gamer.

  • Game looked interested back when i first saw the release during E3. Tried to keep up with it for a while but updates were so slow I stopped visiting the website. Jump ahead a couple years and I see a new trailer, visit the website and boy am i freaking confused. They dropped everything but the graphics engine. The story looks like it would have been great. Totally disappointed in them.

  • why...

  • I remembered when i first saw this trailer in 2005. I was so hyped about this game. Final product turned out to be b.s. compared to this.

  • this trailer looks really bad compared to games nowadays, i remember when I was impressed by this trailer....anyway I guess the changes were for the best, but it would've been cooler if they kept the flexibility of the character, and maybe make a bit more fast paced, it's a decent game but it could've been better

  • @rob6van1dam9 The actual design and style of the game I think is much more interesting than what it turned out to be. While yes, the graphics, were pretty much pre-current gen like the original FEAR, I think it would've made for a much more interesting game than a Gears of War clone.

  • I remember when i used to watch this trailer over and over cuz it was the first "next gen" game trailer released back in the day. Now its a pretty weak trailer. kinda glad they never made this. But still would have been interested to see how it would have turned out. I think they wanted to do too much from concept and when it came to actually doing it they realized they couldnt put everything they wanted into the game so thats why it ended up getting changed.

  • I HAVE A POLL AT THE DARKSECTOR WEBSITE. VOTE YES IF YOU WANTED TO SEE THIS GAME MADE.

it takes a bit of searchin, but its there. go and vote, let them hear your voice. Tell them how badly they need to make this game.

  • It's amazing to me that this looks better than the final product in every conceivable way. Even the *dude* is handsomer than the protagonist from the finished game.

  • In a very strange way... I am still waiting for Dark Sector 2k5 to be released... even though i know it's impossible...

  • @urbn1nja Same... I was so let down when the final product released and I never got past the first level. By choice. It would of been so much better if they kept the original concept and ideas... Why did they change it?

  • @PiousSlayer ... They changed it because a lot of time passed and many games had come out by then that made competition difficult (such as Resident Evil 4) for the game's chances of selling well... or so the designers would like to believe. They changed the whole damn game in an attempt to capitalize on the shoot 'em-up, slice-and-dice game play over stealth and heavy sci fi because it was making more money. Unfortunate garbage eh?

  • I talked to them at D3. they said there was too much competition with "Dead space" and whatever "Halo "was out at that time, they said the "funding" told them to take the Bio-Infection route instead, but use just the graphics engine.

  • i talked to someone at D3,i asked them that same question, thay said MONEY will make 2k5 darksector a real game. thats it. they own the game and everything. but need funding to take it off the ground

  • the magnet would have been cool

  • It will be remembered as one of the most promising games of the decade. It should remember game makers (designers, publishers, etc.) that there is still so much untapped creative space within the current generation. P.S. there are a lot of people who really disliked the GOW games, even a lot who disliked the less pale Halo games (they at least had an interesting universe to offer). Stop always going for the LCD - think about Bioware games - huge successes even though not really main stream.

  • I'm really sad I'll never get to play this game. It looks like it would have been really good. I wonder what caused them to change it into something so generic.

  • My exact thoughts. It went from something that looked amazingly promising to something that looks like a pile of turd.

  • the people paying to have the game built. not D3. talked them about it on their web site. I HAVE A POLL THERE AT THE DARKSECTOR WEBSITE. VOTE YES IF YOU WANTED TO SEE THIS GAME MADE.

  • remember watchin this on g4

  • Its in 2008 dumbo

  • I totally agree. I can't help but wonder how this old version of the game would have played out if they had completed it. It looks amazing, and it features a few interesting takes on the space travel and technology that are worth exploring.

  • i like the 2005 version more than the 2007
