  • Never thought I would say this, but atm my Evo is my favorite mod...working great with the 3.5ml slimtanks and the cover fits right over it, great to carry with ya imo

  • @MatrixTechSolutions Yeah dude, I've been using mine a LOT lately

  • @Grimmgreen "it's just a chinese made mod, kinda like the lavatube..." Careful now, thems fightin' words.

  • Geesh, you are funny (in a good way)! Great review as usual!

  • hey Grimm, so these batteries have no PCB protection, I have been trying to find out if PCB protected batteries 16340's will fit and if they do, will they hurt the performance of the device? There seems to be very little info out there on this, any chance you can test it out or point me in the right direction? No one on ECF has been able to clear this up either...thanks

  • @xtherealcmacx No I was mistaken, the batteries ARE protected. The AW IMR batteries 16340 have also been working for some people.

  • @GrimmGreen Does PTC/CID Protected really count as protected though? Anyways i just want some bloody peace of mind that my EVO/SVR isnt goint to kill me LOL, just tell me it will be ok....ok? lmao Thanks :)

  • Buy a provari its all you need.

  • Pretty sure the sleeve is for putting over your tanks. That way you can use glass drip tips and glass carto-tanks without worrying about dropping and smashing them while out and about? Idk.

  • @DontLeaveMeLucile Yeah the problem is the sleeve isn't wide or long enough to fit over any of the tanks I have

  • I'm looking at the Evo VV 3 Stage mod kit at thehouseofvapor, and I was wondering if these are the same, or similar devices?

  • i like how when you had the volt meter on it you caught your self like reading what was on the display 4 times in a row and got mad at yourself. haha. your a character

  • Personally I thought the length was perfect, i'm fairly new to vaping started off with a 510-t and now have a Ego-t with dc carts. This mod looks nice, and my local supplier (vaperite) should be carrying these soon.

  • pretty cool idea. I was thinking about making a PWM mod for myself. Glad some people are experimenting. The reason why you cant get an accurate voltage reading is probably due to the sawtooth waveform being outputted, so there is no constant voltage. It goes up and down instead, which minimized the power draw while giving similar effect. So when ur voltmeter measures, it either catches it when the wave is low, or it integrates the voltage over time summing (-V1)+0+V1=0 V1 is battery voltage

  • yeah. don't worry about the lenght, your videos are great i had to subscribe. and believe me i only have 4 subscriptions so you must be doing something right.

  • same with the cirrus 3 and 3x those are chinese made good as they are hahahaha

  • I do like the technology behind the wave pulse. Just don't think the SVR uses it to its full potential.

  • Don't worry about the length of your vid's. We enjoy 'em! As long as your not repeating the same thing over & over then keep it going.I think you covered the SVR well. Here's what it is, buy it if you want, you may like it. I especially like the scoop about who actually makes 'em. I can't stand companies that purposely use parts that you have to buy from them, & they only work on that particular device. Or companies that use smoke & mirrors.

  • If the bottom is water proof than when you screw the "tube" on the top over the atti then my guess is you have a complete water proof device. Ie no water will get in atti!

  • oh ps, my wife wants to get a good battery mod like my V3 but wants to be able to use her cone style ego tank atties. My question is where can I find a 510 to 510 adapter to use as an extender for the recessed atty contained in the ego T cones?

  • I imagine that baton feature that covers the atty is designed to keep the atty from being displaced in one's pocket, or from dropping it. I have a Prodigy V3.1 that I absolutely love but the one thing I dislike is the atties tend to unscrew in my pocket for whatever reason. I dropped it once on an unpadded carpet and it actually bent the atty and subsequently aided in shorting it out faster than typical. Just my opinion on the possible use for that baton.

  • awesome vids man. I've been looking into vaping but have no clue what to get. I want something kind of cheap that will last a while. What do you recommend?

  • @kbradyyy14 the EGO or something similar is a good place to start

  • @kbradyyy14 the "something similar" is the Kgo from hoosierecigsupply very affordable, super big battery. Amazing construction quality.

  • another informative review..how does this SVR compare to the Pro-Vari do you reckon?

  • Nice review Nick. I believe they went with the Pop off bottom cap instead of a vent hole so that the device would remain water resistant. Using PWM it actually turns the power on and off 20,000 times a second and that is what messes up a conventional meter. Over all though I think your review is spot on in that this is nothing earth shattering in the way of performance or design. I do wonder if atty's and Carto's last longer since PWM is suppose to control heat temp of the coil.

  • lol everytime I watch ur vids they make me wanna vape..keep it up bro

  • I don't see why you feel the need to keep these short lol, Unless it's your personal preference, or segments for something else, don't really get your fixation on keeping it short. I like the long, informative, broken down to every possible pro and con, "drawn out" videos.

  • Did I hear a "beat it" cover in the end credits? lol

  • First I'm seeing this thing. But I recently helped a vendor with a similar product, was sent to me to review but upon taking it completely apart, I found one of those small batteries in it, looks identical to what you are showing. China said it was a 16340, but in my measurements it was slightly smaller and looked unprotected to me. These batteries and the bogus overuse of PWMs in these mods looks like a new chinese fad. Maybe I should do a vid to explain why I think this is happening, hum....

  • The look on your face says it all Nick... vapes ok.. but nothing special.

Glad someone else out there has non-working attys lying around too... I thought it was just me!

  • Somehow you just made a 14 minute video feel like about 5 mins. I still enjoy my omega tho. Have you ever tried smoov brand e cigs? Juicy vapor sells them.

  • Hmmm.... I was under the impression this mod was made in the USA from scratch too. Don't appreciate being deceived.

Seems/sounds to me this mod is nothing to write home about.... Definitely off my list.

  • Grimm you have the coolest sceensavers ever. my favorite was the grimm army flag. thanks for the review

  • @mandycat1234 yea deep sea vaping. evidently the bottom is designed to pop off in the event of a battery failure, not sure if this is %100 accurate

  • Question: Noticed Grimm threw what looked like a smoketech dct on the svr and wondered if the outer tube is big enough to fit over that tank or other tanks on the market today?

  • @jrpharr the "baton tube" is large enough to fit over the narrower smoktech tanks, but not anything above like a 3ml tank, most tanks are too wide

  • For venting, just drill a small hole in battery tube. I did this with my BB so I can safely stack unprotected CR2s. Love the BB. :) Oh, and don't worry about length of vid. I would rather see all the options and thoughts on devices.

  • @Terranscapes Evidently the bottom is designed to "pop out" in the case that the batteries vent, seems like a hole would have been a better, and more obvious solution

  • Loongtotem, nice, haha. Been awhile since I even thought of those little things!

  • I think you nailed it right on the head when you said the words "Glorified eGo". Thank you for making it clear i'm not the only one who thinks that lol.

  • lol. P Busardo is the MAN! Good job Grim, love ya bro! We all owe a debt to you great guys reviewers. Muchos Gracias.

  • SVR: Slippery vaginal retainer. hehehe

  • @GhostObsessed HA HA HA HA HA good one

  • 2. The unprotected batteries don't scare me, but the AIR TIGHT system however DOES... be safe brother. PLEASE!! It is a cool lil devise, but not worth blowing half your teeth out just to get a vape. I need to make you a damn mod BTW, cuz you need one for being so badass and shhhtufff. Thanks for the long ass and in depth review. VAPE HARD homie! VAPE HARD!

  • @ShanBurkholder SHAN!!! evidently the bottom is designed to "pop off" in the event of a battery failure, seems like a simple hole in the bottom would have been a more obvious and more simple solution

  • I think the bottom of the battery tube is designed to blow off in case of battery venting. Just hearsay dont know if it's fact

  • @ArenzanaBuhl I keep hearing the same thing, I think a simple hole in the bottom might have been an more obvious solution

  • SVR is a "switching voltage regulator", which I'm not sure is what this stands for, but you would need an SVR to pull off pulsing current. Meter - It will show all over the place because of the pulsing current... using anything pulse technology, similar to the eGo, you won't get a proper readout on any meter, unless it's precise .05ms - multimeters that grab that fast are 80.00 and upward ;) I was going o.O YEAAAH, til you said China, and became o_O NOO! - and... LMFAO @ "hold it like a baton"

  • classic....always informative and makes me laugh

  • SVR stands for Super Vaping Rig!! DUH? lol

  • @putodedago lol , obviously

  • good vid as always nick, your honest opinion is much appreciated. Seems there are better VV solutions that dont require stacking unprotected batteries.

  • @synchroV4P3 turns out the batteries are protected, I can't see how they are, but a few people have told me I was wrong about that, so there ya go

  • interesting video... Those batteries aren't protected? that's odd... cause they are white top... usually white top batteries are protected. Maybe they are "Safe" chemistry? haha..

Well anyway thanks for the video man! Seems like a PV that is just more of the same... with an awesome carto apparently.. haha

  • @Zeybrin Yeah i'm not sure dude, some people are telling me they are, some people are telling me they are not.

  • thankyou nick!... cleared up alot of my questions!

  • Why didn't they just go with the slightly larger tube with the vent hole as the battery tube???

  • @thefinder808 I was thinking the same thing, but there is no spring in the bigger tube :(

  • @GrimmGreen Is the spring in the little tube removable or it is glued down thar? I guess it probably wouldn't change the performance anyway...

  • What in tarnation is that screen saver you got goin on? It's hypnotic

  • @thefinder808 ha ha , it's a clock.... I don't remember where I got it

  • vv is the future of vaping.

  • Make your vids as long as you want Nick! Great review, as always

  • pssssst, Grimm.....its "Hughes"....not "Huges" ;)

check the title spelling of your vid mate, lol

    cheers

    scott

  • @igetcha69 It's fun to see the only other vaper I'm subscribed to chatting with the other vaper I'm subscribed to. :)

  • @dbutman331

lol, well I'm a Grimm fan too! :D

    (and thanks for subscribing!)

  • @igetcha69 psssst, hey Scott......haha like your comment real discrete.

    like your reviews.

    peace bro

    putodedago

  • @putodedago

    cheers mate! :D

  • @igetcha69 DOH!! Thanks Scott.... I fixed it , cheers mate

  • Not sure if anyone has said it yet, but if you look in the bottom of the batt tube it's a ridged press fit cap that will peel open if a battery vents, I also read that somewhere else but can't find the post again. And I'm using protected 16340 UltraFires in mine right now, they fit just fine.

As always, thanks for the review ;-)

  • @PitVaper thanks for the info buddy, I was completely un aware as It didn't say anything in the big manual that came with it. It' strange that none of my other batteries fit in it. I have the blue and grey trutfires, and the red AW IMR batteries and none of them would fit inside

  • @GrimmGreen About the batts, I ordered 4 of these 16340 UltraFires from ebay. I did notice that two of them seemed like they didn't want to go in very well, turns out the plastic covering on the batt is like a shrink wrap that helps contain the protection circuit hardware and wasn't completely flat, so I rolled it around on the table to flatten out any little ridges in the shrink wrap and they slid right in.

  • Comment removed

  • I dont see them at innovapor...

  • Running long? You could make 2 hour videos Grimm and they would still be enjoyable to watch lol. The unit's cone IS totally pointless with no main off setting, as if one would pocket a potential bomb near his crotch. BTW, is it possible to use the cone/sleeve to house a slightly bigger battery instead of the inner tube? (if that makes any sense O_o)

  • I also believe the batteries are the safer chemistry so don't require the protection circuits or vent holes.

  • @zainwolf Thanks Zain, some people are telling me they are protected, some are saying they aren't. Evidently the white top means that they are, so Ive put up an annotation on the video.

  • I do believe it seemed the same on different settings because it was LR carto. The device won't let you break ohm's law. Stick a higher resisted atty on there 2.5+ and you'd notice the difference I would betcha.

  • Typo on the title: TACKLING THE AKSTON HUGES SVR...should be TACKLING THE AKSTON HUGHES SVR.............anyway..Happy Vaping

  • Been following the multi-voltage SVR for awhile now, decided to wait until the full-market version before I pick one up. Great Vid Grimm..

  • basically if this thing went off it would be the equivalent of a pipe bomb in your face...with shrapnel and projectiles...

  • wow i really think this is a complete fail sorry to say it but it just takes one time for those unprotected batteries to explode and cause serious injury or death. I think it should be mandatory for protected batteries..this is not a safe product, for me logically i cant see how anyone would put this out there, anyone who was thinking things through. IMO...

  • @realmofoz evidently the batteries are protected , just want to clear that up

  • This carto works at between 4.2 or 4.5 volts - but beware of overheating. This kills it immediately.

  • @RocksSpock like a rocket

  • @RocksSpock Yeah... not to mention the strange symbols that were showing up, same thing happens with other PWM mods

  • First he wanted to sell it for $140 - no joke ;-)) then I'd posted a link of the other vendor product and just asked why. After that the huge discussion began. :-)) oops

  • Nick - I like your poster on the wall - fits exactly to this whole story. ;-) Hard to believe. Storytelling.

  • @GrimmGreen me to but i just dident wanna say it aahahahhahaaa

  • @MrJocchino no mark did have a hand in the design .. well not actuall design but he changed a few things from the evo and put his name to it so he is due a little credit ...oh and i no my spellin sux bawwwwlz im drunk lol

  • @jsouthern666 I would like to know what those "changes" were, as from what I have seen there is no difference between the SVR and the others

  • For my opinion it's not really necessary to test vape with volts - volts are all the same - SVR, LT, ProVari - you name it. Vaoing with 4.2 Volts has always the same results if you take always the same juice and a new equal carto.

The carto of the SVR is simply an Echo E - horizontal dual coil tank carto - they choose the chrome one. Of course customized for the SVR.

It's kind of stupid to underestimate the Google search - I've found the same device really cheap on spaincigar com

  • @marloons4you Yup, it's $10 cheaper on that site, There are also a multitude of China sites selling it for even cheaper. I'm not sure why he tried to pass this off as his own design

  • im get this because im not an scared dummy that will blow my face off

  • @VaporChase mk II ie Hangsen Duel coil Cartomizer for 510 & 901 battery google them if need be

  • If I don't hear GrimmGreen use the words "performing very well" in his reviews, I pretty much know to pass on a product.

  • @MajorRocker74 ha ha , yeah unfortunately this one was very average IMO

  • that looks just like a vv ego bat, but in a mod version.

And the no vent hole makes it a nono for me.

    But nice review!!

  • @jovanake1 thanks!! and why? you don't like vaping a portable pipe bomb?

  • My MK cartos from Askton Hughes fit just fine on my eGo. No problems and BTW Nick, did you spell HUGES wrong on purpose?

  • @vapingrealtor nope i'm just a dumbass like that ha ha , I'll fix it. maybe my Ego batteries are older, but out of the 7 or so that I have, these cartoz would not fit on any of them. Both Joyetech and non Joyetech

  • So an $89 potential pipe bomb I put next to my face....

Nope Ill skip this one :-)

  • @cavibird2005 I don't blame you for not wanting a portable pipe bomb

  • I've had a vent happen to me back when I first started. It was a homemade tub mod, vent hole on the bottom. It put a 3rd degree burn on my thigh and shot out of my hand. The mod didn't short, but the batteries were kinda old. To this day, I'll only use mega 510's.

If it happened with a device like this. It will expand the threading shooting upwards straight into your face. I don't think anything like this should be sold to the public being it doesn't take safety standards into consideration.

  • @DeviantDigi Yup, I had an "almost vent" happen to me while using CR2 batteries in my BB with an adapter.

  • Unprotected batteries, no vent holes and stacking batteries......PIPEBOMB in your face!!!!

  • @hbomb2005 ha ha , yep

  • GG the atomizers do work on an ego and vice versa all ego stuff will fit and look nice on the svr and give tanks a little extra kick.

  • @vtox101 I got the ego stuff... like the Ego-T attys to work on the SVR, maybe my ego batteries are old or something, but out of the 7 or so that I have, this carto did'nt fit on any of them :(

  • Hey Nick. Ask Daniel, but I'm pretty sure the bottom of the tube is made to pop off if the batteries fail. Also, on the John Gawlt show last night, he said he looked into those batteries and they are protected. No clue on that one. Oh, and my 16340s from my SP3 fit in there :o )

  • @justwaaaa really? hmmm... i'll have to get with JG and see what he knows, thanks sister :)

  • Your review is on the spot! I received an EVO for review, which I believe is exactly the same as the SVR..but everything you said, from the no vents in the battery (but vents on the outer tube..lol) to the "baton" mode which is useless if the button still fires...but this device, or the EVO I received, is $69.99 at 310vapers[]com and $59.99 at the HouseofVapor[]com. Plus the charger that it comes with is cheap, batts tend to pop out. But great review Nick!! On the dot.

  • @vapingmonkey exactly the same, thanks for stopping by CJ , the baton mode is starting to grow on me ... ha ha ha

  • Nearly impossible name to live up to.

    google Hugh Akston

  • @russwishtart ha ha ha ha , wow... I had no idea, goes to show how much I read. Thanks for stopping by Russ

  • When you put the bottom case on the top it looked like a toilet paper holder. Maybe that's what they had in mind for it. LMFAO!!!

  • @DirtyfuckinHippy yup, or a toothbrush holder

  • if any one wants the cartios theyve been around for a long time there called echomisers made by hangsen

  • @jsouthern666 Echomizers are single horizontal bottom coil like pretty well all 808s. (That includes the Echo-E 510 cartos) The ones with the SVR are dual horizontal coil.

  • @jsouthern666 So basically everything akston hughes say they "designed" is just rebranded. Tells a lot about a company (dull)

  • @jsouthern666 good to know, thanks

  • man i was waiting for you to do this.

  • @FSUwestSOfresh glad I could deliver then

  • @GrimmGreen ill be purchasing the lavatube instead of this. i was looking forward to the SVR but after this ill just hold off. id love a provari but its way out of my price range. thanks for the insight.

  • As always good stuff. Glad I love my kgos. :-D

  • @caseyjp1 HAH!!! you're to predictable Casey :)

  • THE METER WAS READING "ALL YOUR VAPE ARE BELONG TO US!"

Seriously though, great video Grimm! Thank you!

  • @Jaemanu12 ha ha ha ha ha , awesome

  • man i could here that lr510 crackle and pop on the red setting lol

  • @HanzoTh3Razor Right? I have some dual coils that sound like a campfire when I hit them

  • @GrimmGreen hahahahaha

  • Being an electronics nutball i gotta get one since it supposedly uses PWM. Gonna have to run it through the gambit and see what it can do. Thanks for the info as always GG :)

  • @TheNerofiend my pleasure, let me know how you like it

  • ah another cool vid , thanks for sharing man :D

  • @HanzoTh3Razor glad to friend
