hey very helpful video!! thanx, but I have one question does any kind of all-purpose clear silicon works? I'm from venezuela so there are just two or three silicon brands I can get.
If I bought the Honcho TR, and then later on decided to upgrade the esc to the Rooster, is there any soldering involved, or connection changes? Thanks! Love your vids!
medic all im going to say is one day i hope to be able to run with u cause my crawler is nothin compared to urs i mean ya mines cheap but thats how u sometimes have to start but hey man any little help will work if u have ideas of things i could do or can do to mine i have vids up of it while im workin on it and a session of using it and me askin for help if u could do that for me thanks and remember KEEP ON CRAWLIN BROTHER
Which one should I get? Kyosho Rock Force or this kit? I'm thinking about getting into crawlers and these 2 are on the top of my list. Can you please tell me what pros and cons between the 2 models. Thanks in advance
@UmyNEPHEW my friend.. i would like to direct you to another video I produced over almost 2 years ago.. called "Water Proofing an Electric RC Motor".. Water Break in.. your questions will certainly be answered better than this short posting :)
okay medic i made a great discovery i mounted my stock savage shocks on my scx 10 honcho in a droop set up (no springs) and they work awsome they give in so much travel its un real i can climb almost anything and they allow the scx 10 to really twist to the maxx .....try it out guys
Planning my build at the moment and like your battery choice. Looking at the MaxAmps site there are so many choices. What run time do you achive with your setup? Is it worth considering a smaller, say 860mah that will be much lighter to reduce CG? (eg an AX10 battery and possibly adding to the front axial) Thanks for your help.
alot of people have been telling me to use a 35t motor, but I bought a Novak 55t paired with a rooster crawler ESC with linelocs both ways. so far I've been able to drop it into the deepest pit I could find and with a little tweaking on the trim I have no problems pulling out of anything or climbing hills. The only problem im having now is steering with bpth my honcho and my scorpion. Any good suggestions for a high torque servo to improve? Love the videos and following you on RC Tech forums.
@somewhathigh Hello my friend, its completely personal choice of course :) If you have not been having problems with the speed of the rig, then no worries at all. Some folks like a bit more wheel speed (for example in my TTC videos you need some extra "umph") but 55 is also a great motor. I use a mix of servos - one of them being Traxxas 2075 waterproof - but also I use a Hitec 645MG, and waterproof it myself. Thanks for the support and the comment man! Good to know peeps are watching :)
great video your run through on the electronics really helped me out I am new to the electric rc stuff always been a nitro guy but scalers are the way to go now.
@dav1dh0ff Battery Eliminator Circuits are small devices that eliminate the need for a receiver and servo battery pack. They draw higher voltage from the motor batteries and drop it to a voltage level that is suitable for your receiver and servos. This is required in applications which draw high power for multiple servos or use more than 3S motor packs, as most ESCs with linear BECs are not designed for these applications.
Hey DJ you should try corrosion-X for your waterproofing it works great . it;s easy to use too. just dunk your esc in and let it dry. check it out here on you tube.
hey dude, nice build so far. I really want to build one this summer so I can have the whole summer of no school to play with it. One ? though. What kind of ring is that? It reminds me of my 300 ring from bowling a perfect game.
@RCWinnipeg no problem my fellow canadian friend... I only have one let down for... I dont thing the Max Amps batteries put out 1.21Gigga Watts needed to get up to 88mph... Maybe if I bought a few more of them...... ;)
@djmedic2008 lol again, you actualy reminded me in this video that I have a soldering tip for my butane torch. The whole time I have owned it I only used the torch for metals and never used it to solder electronics. I have been using a cheapo $20 iron and had the $120 torch sitting on my bench with an appropiate tip the whole time... I seen you pick yours up and thought "HEY! OH! I got one of those!" Now no more 10 minute jobs thats should take 30 seconds. Thanks!
@4mods I appreciate your comment 4Mods.. your awesome for the support. You for 1 certainly understand all the work that goes into these vids... we only make it look easy , don't we. Some folks dont reasize the amount of time, planning and efforts it takes to get these monster HD vids on Youtube.. lol - Cheers bud
@RCNEWStv Thanks Bill! Sorry I had to erase your last awesome comment in the other vid,,, but I had to re-upload it. I think its great you may be building one of these.. they are a ton of fun to mess around with!
@JOHNDEEBANK Thanks John,,, i make videos like this just for good folks like you. I hope this may inspire you to try building one of these kits... you can always take your time.. and build along with the vids Ive left for all to enjoy
where is that battery on maxamps i cant seem to find it?

Do you have to use a BEC with a 3s lipo? i read on a form somewhere that it was required?

What setting on the hotwire set up allows for a lower speed? Right now when i lightly touch my throttle it goes fairly fast.
