@Johnny573159 No, it's not that simple. For songs which are copyrighted (like this one), YouTube splits the ad money with the copyright holder, and I get nothing. Zero.

It's like the mafia : they get your money and they let you live (they don't take down your video). I wish YouTube would come up with a solution for content creators to make a little side money from this kind of work, because trust me it is. The only solution is non-copyrighted content.

@trudbol What about the Itunes sales of the song? Do you have to give up any of that money to the copyright holder? You do not have to answer if you do not want to do so.

@blender124 Yes, I have to pay copyright fees to be allowed to sell digital copies of my cover. The fees are around $35 for 200 digital copies sold. iTunes also charges a fee to let you use their site to sell your music (another $10 per year) and they take around 30% of the sale price. Not much left in the artist's pocket at the end of the day.
