  • @00wyk My TDI consistently gets upper 40, low 50s MPG and its brand new. I also don't have a huge battery pack to sit in a land fill for the next few million years. The diesel is also much more fun to drive compared to the weak hybrids and , IMHO, the jetta looks way better.

  • If jap cars are so good and jap engineering is so good then why isn't this system in a honda/toyota/nissan/mazda/subaru/ isuzu etc? HUH!

    Please clue me in!

  • Most people I talk to are completely oblivious to the amount of engineering marvels in this vehicle. VW pretty much engineered their way right around the US EPA before any other Auto Manufacturer in the world. Put that in your pipe and smoke it!

  • Awesome, but can anyone afford to buy one now? Yeah, Cindy and John will get one no doubt, and brag about how eco-friendly they are! Well, anyway, the Piezo-electric injection system allows for up the FIVE separate injections of fuel in a single cycle! Of course, "solid" injection systems can not do this. Cool? very! Now, if we can only get the banks to give us a loan! Thanks George and Co. for all that you have done to our economy in the last 8 years! Don't know where we'd be without you!DUH

  • yes W sucks, but this isn't exactly a $40K suv that no one seemed to have a problem leasing when times were good and gas was cheap, it's $25K which is the going rate for most cars now, even a honda fit will set you back at least $16K
