  • super douches

  • watch?v=ySj3D7Nlw7E

  • That is soooo true about the media.

  • Am I one of the only one's that watches TV They're building a lawsuit against Yaz,Yasmine,NuvaRing ,OrthoEvra. Which one doesn't have a lawsuit against in now for causing stokes and general death in 20 year olds now?

It just seems like more risk then gain, even if it's not religous. I mean look at what happened with hormone replacement therapy and that was supposidly this big panacea.

  • @lizziebreath9 Keep in mind that people will sue over the smallest things if they see it as being profitable. But some of these formulations have resulted in death etc. However a few bad formulations do should not represent the whole. Some cars have exploded, yet I'm sure you still drive. It is well know that if you smoke while taking birth control pills you are more apt to stroke or heart problems...

  • ... Moreover if you have a history of clotting issues then you should've talked about the risks with your doctor (usually they will advise against it). Risk also increases with age.

But some formulations and newer generation hormones can be dangerous. Frankly I hear more bad things than good about yaz; however I know several people that have used other pill types and had no qualms with it. Hormone therapy is also different from contraception...

  • ... Especially as we progress and learn more. New things like SERMs like Femarelle and Raloxifene can be used as hormone replacement therapy (HRT) even though they affect how hormones work instead of adding hormones.

Keep in mind that there are several types of birth control pills and types of formulations (ex. mini pill vs. combined oral contraceptive pill, drosperinone vs levonorgestrel vs. norgestimate etc etc etc).

fyi Yaz and Yasmine are the same pill (drosperinone & ethinyl estradiol).

  • @skamic88 Heart problems yes liver disease no. They do hurt some women not just with things like blood clots but unexplained anovulation even months or years off the pill or severe depression or sometimes migraines or seizures to the point where women cannot function. I just think that needs to be recognized and to stop giving them to women like they're candy. P.S. Off subject, No I don't drive but it has nothing to do with exploding cars but nice example.

  • hahaha.. shows a real outlook of society and media

  • Kant spoke of two relationships, one which is with love and the other opposite:

    I- It relationship

    and the I- Thou relationship

It seems to me NFP is more in line with the second.

  • Good point! NFP definitely requires the people who use it to communicate and care about each other. Which raises the question--Should people who don't communicate or care about each other be engaging in an activity that has the potential for creating a new life? Hmmm, something to ponder.

  • I'm loving these videos. xD

Though reading the comments are quite less fun. I wish I had a giant book of "TOTALLY TRUE STATISTICS" that could clear up all of the contradicting evidence everyone gives. It's easy to throw stats around, since no one can really spend the time to find out whether or not those facts are accurate.. I know I can't. >_>

  • these are quite well done.

  • Great video, keep them coming!

  • Oh boo-hoo. The media doesn't listen to us. These are people with very mixed up and selfish priorities. They don't help to make the world a better place at all. They beat issues into the ground that don't need beating. Take away abortion, take away gay marriage, take away a person's right to use oral contraceptives... will that feed even 1 more hungry child? I only see an ancient, irrelevent war and hollow agendas. No one who needs gets what they need, and they die because we act like this.

  • NFP is a way to plan families without the woman ingesting unhealthy artificial hormones. NFP strengthens the loving cooperative bond between spouses. NFP encourages spouses to respect one another and look upon children as a gift from God rather than an affliction. So ... we need to get more CATHOLICS using NFP! If most Catholics used NFP, that would go a long way toward getting the word out about NFP through word of mouth. Viva pro-Life priests!

  • I hope you realize there are other forms of birth control that do not involve hormones. Further, they are not 'artificial' anyone who has set foot in a boi 101 class can tell you what a sterol/steroid/hormone is. Hormones are everywhere in your body! You and I (even those silly people in this video) are big bags of chemicals. Many of those chemicals are hormones. Thats why you grew (and still grow), can move, breath, think, and reproduce. everything has to do with HORMONES.

  • Hormones are so vital to living. If they were so artificial then why dose your body crank them out? You have special organs just to make and send out hormones! They are the chemical messengers. Some examples of the famous hormones are insulin, cholesterol, histamine and Serotonin. There are many different types like sterol, peptide, eicosanoid etc.

We need to more people to look upon children as a gift, and cherish it (don't be so eager to make another gift!)

  • but those are natural hormones and as urbanh clearly staited we [catholics] are against women injesting !artificial! hormones

  • Real ¡artificial! hormones?

Last time I checked synthetic hormones were still hormones. Why is it the you have a problem against "artificial" hormones in the from of contraceptives but when it comes to insulin, cortisone injections or corticosteroid inhalers you would have no problem. I smell hypocrisy!

Now I will ask my age old question (maybe I'll finally get an answer), aside from humana vitae, where (in the bible) dose it say birth control is wrong? As a catholic, maybe you can tell me!

  • With almost 7 billion people on Earth, we should love the gifts we got. If you don't have kids yet, don't be greedy. The earth can only take so much...

what we need instead of getting the word out, we need more people reading basic biology. That way they wont sound so stupid when they talk to someone who actually knows what a hormone is and what it dose.

If you wanna know more about hormones like, what they are made of, what they do, or about their ring shape etc etc... i'll be happy yo help:)

  • Well, I'm not taking the bait, so I will wait patiently for any other questions/objections to nfp.

  • Now who is out of amo?

  • "My basic assumption is that since Pologameboy can dish it out, he can also take it..."

"...but frankly Pologameboy's thoughts are not worth it..."

I'll drop it when you step up and show a scrap of remorse and apologize for your fault. Is it so hard to do? Any new points for me to argue against and knock down?

  • It would be the christian thing to do!

  • You seem to be under the misapprehension that lover your enemies means being a milquetoast version of nice. T'ain't so. If you want to keep harping on it long after everyone else has moved, fine. But it kinda suggests you are running out of ideas.

  • Milquetoast - One who has a meek, timid, unassertive nature.

Its a noun by the way.

    Matthew 5:5

"Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth"

    Luke 6:37

"Do not judge and you will not be judged, Do not condem and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven"

I want you to send a message to Pologameboy and say you are sorry for talking behind his back when he is not here to defend himself.

  • Both the pill and condoms operate differently. I don't know anyone who has said differently. But they are both contraception. I don't see the controversy. As far as your quotes of Scripture, thanks. When it actually applies, I'll take it to heart.

  • WHEN IT APPLIES!

Here you are trying to rip Pologameboy a new one, and you don't think it applies?

Are you free of sin, don't act high and mighty. There is only one who can judge!

    cast your stones aside.

  • My basic assumption is that since Pologameboy can dish it out, he can also take it. Since he his gone, perhaps we can move on to other things, eh?

  • Listening to Pologameboy repeat the colossal stupidity that NFP is withdrawal is like being looked in a closet with recording of a bad joke set on infinite repeat.

  • When you criticize and chastise Pologameboy do you think it vindicates you?

Do you think you get a prize if you cut him down to size?

  • and yet the assumption the all forms of contraception are the same is being made on the other side.

he assumed that 'nfp' is withdrawal, while others for nfp assume that contraception is only the pill. yet you only chastise him. who is more wrong?

"He that is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone at her."

And my stance can be summed up by John "Neither do I condemn thee: go and sin no more." I say to him and I say it to you too.

  • "he wanted me to"

    xDD

  • As before, as a simple bald fact, yes a virus will not pass through properly functioning latex. But as usual, the pro-condom people gloss over lots of reality. When the human factor is added, it's a loser.

  • And it is much ado about nothing. Mainly, obey Church teaching and the virus does not pass through=no AIDS transmitted. Obey Church teaching and it does=no AIDS transmitted.

  • I'll just consolidate my points here. The first answering the argument that this is about NFP and contraception and not African AIDS. Sorry, but someone chose to fire the genocide salvo, which is dirty pool, so it will be answered. Second, the immorality of telling people to use condons does not stand or fall on the virus passing through microscopic holes which I concede does not pass through except in the case of improper use or breaking. So everyone including the Church should get right facts.

  • I don't care about married people using NFP over contraception--that's their own business.

My problem is when people spread misinformation ABOUT condom usage, such as the quote form the Vatican I gave below.

  • Just quickly, when people get married, they participate in the marital embrace. WHen they do have sex, they are revealing themselves TOTALLY to eachother. The man saying this is my body, and the woman as well, given totally to you. With contraception it is, "I give you everything, but not my sexuality". I am sorry for even starting this because I can not make a reasonable argument over this. If you would like to continue contact, you can email me.

  • OK, to give the Church's teaching on contraception over a youtube message board would be impossible. If you want to know the Church's teaching and for the reasons behind it, it would be a good idea to read Theology of the Body. IT is a collection of homilies and talks by Pope JOhn Paul II. Or you could read the original document, Humanae Vitae.

  • Also, I've been looking around can't seem to find anything about Pope Benedict recanting the Vatican's stance regarding the inability of condoms to help prevent aids. If that has happened, I would like to be aware of it.

  • "The Catholic Church is telling people in countries stricken by Aids not to use condoms because they have tiny holes in them through which HIV can pass - potentially exposing thousands of people to risk.

The church is making the claims across four continents despite a widespread scientific consensus that condoms are impermeable to HIV.

A senior Vatican spokesman backs the claims about permeable condoms, despite assurances by the World Health Organisation that they are untrue."

  • "The church's claims are revealed in a BBC1 Panorama programme, Sex and the Holy City, to be broadcast on Sunday. The president of the Vatican's Pontifical Council for the Family, Cardinal Alfonso Lopez Trujillo, told the programme: "The Aids virus is roughly 450 times smaller than the spermatozoon. The spermatozoon can easily pass through the 'net' that is formed by the condom."

  • If a couple is in such a "grave situation" such that a pregnancy would be "hazardous to the wife," perhaps they should use the more effective method of preventing pregnancy--contraception. Why would you choose a less effective method in a "grave situation" ?

And if the couple refuses any contraception--and a pregnancy would be HAZARDOUS to the wife--maybe they just shouldn't be having sex.

  • The majority of the people in abortion clinics are there because of failed contraceptives, period. And also, NFP, when it is taught, is not to be used to "choose" when WE want to have kids but we should prayerfully discern if God wants us to have a kid. and NFP is not antother contraceptive but is to be used in "grave situations".Such as when it would be hazardous for the wife to have kids. If you really want to bash NFP, get your facts right

  • Can't you "prayerfully discern" if god wants you to have a kid and then decide to take off your condom?

  • If a married couple is using contraceptives to prevent pregnancy and become pregnant anyways, why would they be any more inclined to get an abortion than those doing NFP trying to NOT get pregnant? In both cases, the couple does not--at that time--want to get pregnant

  • How exactly does contraception lead to abortion? Can you explain that one?

Contraception prevents pregnancy--MUCH more successfully than NFP I might add.

The direction of causality in these arguments is flawed. If ONLY married couples practice NFP, then OF COURSE abortion is lower with NFP then the general public--married people tend not to get abortions.

  • Just to let you guys know, the statistics of NFP are absolutely crazy. One of the biggest problems of our society has been contraception. Argue all you want but it leads to abortion and the objectification of women. Pope Paul VI was prophetic when he wrote his encyclical Humanae Vitae mentioning these two results. Oh and with our 50% divorce rate in a culture consumed with contraception, only 3% of married couples who use NFP get divorced, now try and tell me it doesnt bring couples together

  • "rock on!! spread Aids all over africa because some catholics said you couldn't use a condom!! Hide behind a catchy slogan while simultaneously sponsoring self-inflicted genocide! I wish there was a hell for you people to go to!"

Precisely. These videos are ridiculous. Buy a condom people. And for the love of God, stop telling African nations that condoms don't guard against aids.

  • Nice job!!! NFP rocks. Everyone who views this should search condoms on youtube and make a post to come here to contraception vs nfp!!!

  • rock on!! spread Aids all over africa because some catholics said you couldn't use a condom!! Hide behind a catchy slogan while simultaneously sponsoring self-inflicted genocide! I wish there was a hell for you people to go to!

  • Perhaps you would be kind enough to explain how disobeying the Church with regards to chastity makes it their fault when someone cathches a disease. Or as another pointed out: If your religion forbids skydiving and forbids using parachutes, if you jump out of a plane without a parachute, it's not the fault of your religion's teachings.

  • because some idiot will believe those teachings and still act on his/her instinct to have sex (the lesser of two evils). Whats so great about chastity? And why does the catholic church try to see science and medicine as works of the devil or playing god? People like to have sex.. why would you preach death over protection?

  • Ridiculous. If someone ignores the Church on chastity, why would they listen to anything they say one way or another regarding condoms? What's so great about chastity is that you are 100% guaranteed not to get AIDS from sex. Safe sex is illusion and it is the ones advocating condoms preaching death not protection.

  • To me, it's not about "obeying vs. not obeying." It's spreading misinformation like "condoms don't help protect against aids." (Pope, 2003)

  • This is not misinformation at all becauase the safe-sex trope is an illusion. Now, as a bald detail, condoms barring failure and other thights might reduce the chance of contracting it. BUT this is like telling someone to play russian-roulette with fewer bullets in the chamber. Yes, statistically it's less likely you will blow your brains out, but there is still the the truth that playing russian-roulette (or telling people to do so) is wildly immoral.

  • Oh yeah, and I'll ask for a more detailed citation on that quote than just "Pope, 2003"

  • I sent you the link, and posted pertinent quotes above. Try again.

And you shouldn't make any sort of "russian roulette" analogy when the main purpose of this video is "NFP vs. Contraception." NFP people probably don't wanna discuss things like "statistics" and "probabilities."

  • no they dont prevent aids, but "if used properly latex condoms are effective against pregnancy, AIDs and other STDs."

  • @NewYorkDoc79

Condoms protect against AIDS like pulling out prevents a pregnancy. Condoms were not meant to protect people from diseases- they were to prevent pregnancy. The fact that they offer LIMITED protection against STD's means that they are still NOT safe to use against AIDS.

Let's see...there's a 30% chance of pregnancy if a man pulls out, and about the same amount of chance someone will contract AIDS with a condom.

Why not do the sensible thing? Close the legs!

  • LOL Yeah, you can get pregnant during the part of your cycle when you are NOT fertile. Is this in the same category as women who spontaneously ovulate like rabbits whenever they have sex?

  • The menstrual cycle is not consistent, there is no way of knowing... It more refers to border times.

  • Yes, there most certainly are ways of knowing. Your menstrual cycles do not have to be consistent to know either. But clearly you don't actually know anything about NFP or much about a woman's cycles if you think there is no way of knowing.

  • fredm41l

Just out of curiosity, how is it possible for an embryo to form when the woman has not ovulated? It is certainly an interesting idea; where did you get the quote from?

  • There are plenty of contraceptives that don't involve the use of chemicals or any harmful materials. + Why couldn't a couple "family plan" via contraceptives?

  • regardless of whether chemicals are used, the sexual act is disordered if it does not contain both the unitive and procreative aspects. to separate the two is essentially to divorce the act with its natural outcome. so in addition to health benefits, there are moral reasons.

  • GOOD JOB!!!

  • These are awesome! Please keep them coming!

  • What utter infantile tripe.

  • i love it! keep making them!

  • haha...yep, another good one

  • Love it!

  • Thanks for this series. I really appreciate seeing them.

  • Another good 1.
