  • oshadharon...ultimate performace...wow subhranil da awesome....wad a soothing performance!

  • guru shishya parampara s only way to learn indian music.not collage degree in music!

  • dueling banjo reincarnated?

  • This is amazing artistry! Kya Baat Hai!

  • Golden!

  • Ustad Shahid Parvez Kahn is my sitar teacher. I met him today at a lesson.

  • it will be good to see some slow phrases, and divisions with interest, not just a volley of concatenated notes

  • Shahid Parvez is a noble man. In this gharana , he is perhaps the only one who does not hesitate to teach students outside the family. Long live ustad ji and his music.

  • Subhranilda khub sundar follow kore Shahidjike. Ashadharon musician

  • WAAH WAAAH!

  • Wow. This record is out of the world. Is this the complete version OR is there more prior to this and after?

  • The difference Guru-Shishya Parampara makes!

  • awesome

  • woh....thatz awsome, shahid wins though

  • Subranil Sarkar is the name of the student and Anubrata Chatterjee [son of Pandit Anindo Chatterjee]is playing tabla. Such a wonderful Ustadji, see him for the first time. Wow this clip gave me many realizations, thanks for posting.

  • did he repeat that last one?

  • No he did not, I am hoping Shubranil Sarkar keeps up his riaz. His fingering and technique is immaculate. He has great potential provided he pays the dues.

  • That is great stuff. My instructor in Varanasi is Padmabhan Singh, a long time student of Ustad Shahid Parvez, and son to Dr. Rajbhan Singh, a gifted man as well, former dean of music at Benares Uni. I wish there was a YT clip of Shahid Parven performing Rag Jhinjohti, which I've been trying to master forever.

  • which raag is this?

  • The raga is shyam kalyan

  • I love how Shahid Parvez appears so light hearted and fun! I would if I could travel across the world to Kolkata, both to visit my dear friend Sameep Kulkarni (A wonderfull sitar student of his) and to study under this amazing man. If there's anyone on earth I have an eternal respect for is Shahid Parvez. I'd met other gurujis, and Shahid Parvez speaks something that resonates in the tarafs of my soul. Namaste!

  • Tablavadak is talking the truth, to see an ustads student play almost like for like with the ustad shows no holding back from the ustad and great practice from the student. Heavy performance!

To any sitar students this one recording you could expand your sitar knowledge tenfold. The guys showing Base patterns, then thier variations. A true piece of gold on YouTube.

Correction, this could benefit anyone who wants to learn sangeet, percusion to strings to blowing.

  • Concert or not, its definitely an intriguing look into a process that a lot of people don't get to see.

  • Gurubhai...I saw something similar...when I attended a concert Of Ustd. RaisKhanSaab with his son. Farhaan. Raag Charukeshi. I cried like a baby. NO WORDS.

  • hi. do u know who accompanying him on the tabla t this concert? i cant beleive i missed this concert.

  • I beleive it was Ustd Qureshi.

  • Ok. I don't know of Ust Qureshi. What was he like? was he good?

  • I dont have the capacity to talk about the Ustad's music. However, I thing is clear, unlike many other legendary musicians, Ustad Shahid Parvez teaches his students in the true way. I think students of sitar will definitely benifit from this Guru! :))

  • Also it makes it even more important for the concert since it's dedicated to Ustad Shahid Parvez's father and Guru late Ustad Aziz Khan. 3 gen. of Guru and shishyas at work. Nice :)

  • I think this is a portion of the Jod. It's Sawal-jawab going on. It makes quite some sense to ask the student to replicate those taankari of the highest quality in front of the knowledgeable audience, since it's 'Guru-Shishya Parampara'.

  • It is not really sawal-jawab actually. It is just sitar class. Sawal jawab needs 2 artists complimenting, not copying each other. Unfortunately it has become norm now that all the great artists Ravishankar ( with Anushka Shankar), Amjad Ali ( with his sons) have used the platform to teach their kids. Anyway I enjoy Shahid bhai's sitar.

  • cool

  • It is nice teching session if it is. But certainly not a good concert. BTW shishya is excellent
